well.... I mean it's not as if there has ever been deaths in car accidents driven by drunks with passengers wearing no seat belts is there?
why people need to make it into a conspiracy astounds me....
what are your thoughts?
accident or assassination?.
i still get upset over this.

what is the society's current view on medical marijuana?
obviously smoking is a no-no, but what about edibles, or oils (think they're called tinctures)??.
.
the older I get the more I think that all drugs should be legalized. Take out the criminal element and the transgressive element, a lot of problems would be solved!!!

so we agreem that FGM is not intrinsc to Islam?
how does any if this reflect on someone bragging that he will not give work to anyone due to their religion?
as I said substitute another discriptive word in that comment and it doesn't sound half so good does it?
i don't want to be defending any religion, I personally believe that all the problems in the world is caused by my god is better than your god.
i just cannot sit silently by and say nothing.

female genital mutilation is a cultural thing. I agree it is to be abhored, but it is NOT an intrinsically Islamic practice. My Muslim friends have NOT been subjected to this, and are horrified by it.
Dont cite Pakistan or Saudi Arabia as examples of Islam in general, other Muslims do not support them..
Indonesia is one if the largest Muslim countries and with the exception of Aceh, which has always been regarded as an outpost of Saudia Arabia, these things do not happen.
AM i to believe that that the women I speak to almost daily are totally dominated and controlled. in that case I had better inform them. NONE of them wear the headscarf. several are independant business women.

heres an example. my family are uber dubs. they had a neighbour who was intellectually disabled, with very little money, who went out of their way to buy them a Christmas gift.
i happened to be there when these people drove over, using petrol they couldn't spare, to give my family this gift they really couldn't afford.
instead of accepting it gracefully they were good witnesses, and said you know we don't celebrate Christmas. the poor people just stood there, not knowing what to do,I was ashamed.....I may have been raised like that, but by god, I will be better than that.
Now, thats being a VERY good witness but on a scale of one ten just how rude do you think that was? how many times does something similar to that occur?
but we are incapable of accepting that others may not want to shake hands?
pot, meet kettle.

I agree, I'm a strong feminist, but Islam doesn't treat women as second class citizens. the women I work with and employ are not.
simon, I agree to disagree with you. please tell me how I have taken those quote out of context? they were simple one off statements. I did not selectively mine them, I simply repeated them.

and before people start jumping up and down and calling me Muslim apologist, I am not.
there are many things I don't like about Islam, just like christianity, and Hinduism.
but I can't stand hatred, and I thought as a group we could be better than this.
one thing our live experience should have given us is MORE tolerance for people who are not what we expect, not less.

2tired2care,
these quotes are neither racist, or hateful to you?
these are all from THIS thread.
disgraceful really......
send em back to Mecca
rubbish,
rubbish is right
filthy description
send them back to where they came from
so, which of these quotes do you consider NOT outrageous?
those that do not choose to stand up to that hatred are tacitly approving it.
guess that's all ok, until it's done to you, hay?
i work with and employ LOTS of Muslims. should I go and tell them that, how would it appear to them, oh, that's right, NOT hate speach!!!

Apogophos has it correct. remember expecting people to make allowances for you and your religion? being the only person who didn't celebrate birthdays, Christmas Easter, or be allowed to play sport or have a social life?
and not saluting the flag, etc etc.
How much allowance did we expect people to make for us?
Dont you think all of that is FAR ruder, and expected far more accomodation from other people than someone not wanting to touch the opposite sex?
and to those arguing it's not about religion, what's the heading of this thread?
