Hey all! My brother will be playing with Gwen Stefani tonight on Saturday Night Live. I think he'll be drumming, but I'm not sure. If I understood my sisters email correctly, it will be him and the college band he teaches. He is a music professor at Citrus College, but spent his life before teaching as a back up drummer for just about everyone, and before that he had a band called the Unforgiven. Check them out at this website if you feel so inclined: www.roverpack.com Any-who, he'll also be on David Letterman on Monday, and Good Morning America (i think) on Tuesday morning. Cheers!

by jules99 ini am looking for some advice to hopefully prevent me going mad.

Dear Jules,
Many have given good advice here. My two cents: It appears that the controlling mind set of this religion has made itself evident by the way you've been treated, and the lack of respect for your wishes. My mother passed away when I was 15, and she was disfellowshipped at the time. Her family, who are not JW's, stepped up to give her a funeral. My father, who is still a JW, wouldn't even attend the funeral. The service was wonderful, and I was able to read her a poem which I put in her grave. There was no mention of the word Jehovah, but the word Love sure did come up a lot. To me, it is despicable that a person or persons could let a religion get in the way of honoring someone they supposedly loved dearly. The point I am trying to make (poorly), is this: If God is love, why would he want his people to act so unlovingly? How could doctrine be more important than family? I hope you don't fall into the JW trap, they will not be kind and loving to you. In fact, you may always be seen as bad association for the way your relationship began, rather than a wife who loves her husband very much. My sincerest condolences for your loss, I hope you can find some peace. As far as where Dan has gone, he is right there with you. I don't feel that my mother is cold and buried in the ground, she is here with me always, in my heart and mind, wether there is a heaven/paradise or not.

Well, I left work early today, and met my brother and sister at home (Guy had picked them up at the airport). We had lunch at Rory's Pub and Broiler, had a few bloody mary's, and walked along the shore and down on the fishing the pier. We saw the strangest sight! A Canadian goose, which we originally encountered on our approach to the beach, and who honked threateningly at us as we passed, had shacked up with four mallards, 2 male, 2 female, and we saw them all begging for food together on our way back. In the space of about 15 minutes he adopted this little flock, and was walking in line with them, behind the two males!!! They seemed to accept him completely, even laying down with him next to a park bench. When they all got up to return to the water, he got up and followed them in, paddling off together all in a row, the goose an oversized silhoutte sandwiched between two pairs of smaller silhouttes outlined by the afternoon sun.
We made our way to Guys fathers house, and had a great time talking while seated around his large oval dining room table, the shape of it drawing us all together in a ring of animated faces and lively dialogue. I was so proud to introduce them to my new father in law!! We talked and shared stories for about an hour, and then came back to our apartment. Guy played DJ, putting on different songs as my sister requested them, as she and I love to sing together. It's our way of bonding, I think. There is one song that touched Guy very deeply when he lost his mother, and he and I lost our mothers the same year. Months ago he had played it for me, and it really hit home. The thing is, it describes my mother to a tee. The song is called "Lila". My mothers name is Lila. It has a chorus at the end of "Turalura-lura-lura, Turalura-lie". That's what my mother used to sing us to sleep with. It has the singer (Don Henley, by the way) describing what he will miss without her in his life. Tonight, Guy played that for the first time for my sister and brother, and it was very poignant. My brother is very stoic, and he just left the room, but my sister teared up with me, and held me. She was in stunned amazement, and like me, couldn't believe what she was hearing. We talked for hours afterwards, with a depth of emotion that I feel we had been lacking for some time. We are family, but we have a hard time opening up to one another. It felt very therapeutic tonight.
Tomorrow, I am going to give them the tour of Seattle. I'm the only one still up right now, lol! Have a good night all, I'll get my sis on here in the morning!

Fire the smokers.... Looks like someone was inspired by the WTS....

company fires all employees who smoke.

Sorry, but not all smokers are lazy!! This is one of my biggest pet peeves, to hear that smokers waste so much time. BS!!! I smoke on my two breaks a day and at lunch, and take no more time than anyone else, who also get two 15 minute breaks and an hour lunch. It just rips me so bad that for some reason people associate being a smoker with being a slacker. While the company in the article were within their rights, it still irks me that they did this. Just because someone smokes doesn't mean that they are less than others, and I agree with whoever it was that said they should just add a rider to their policy stating that smoking related costs will not be covered. Sounds like someone just wanted to make an issue out of it, it's not really about the health care costs.

Aww, thanks sis!! I wish you could be there for it! I got a huge room, but it doesn't seem like anyone can make it :( I've had so many cancellations in the last few days, I'm starting to wonder why we're doing this again. We should have done the justice of the peace like we wanted to, lol!!! My list went from around 60 atendees to about 30 now, yeesh. Oh well, at least the most important guest will be there...the groom, lol!
