Many who have been a JW since the 70- 80s remember the JW dramas coming out yearly.. today they are movies but to the topic.... Many of the voice actors are the same.
One however is plain odd.
Lets list his roles as I remember:
The Exodus drama: Janes
Gideon drama: an anger worshiper of Baal
Job Drama: I think Bidad
In the Elijah drama he is Jehosaphat
Now in the dramatic bible reading of Job 1,2 he is Satan
Now many would suggest this guy is dead by now but I don't think he is. See the RNWT audio book of Job has him as athe voice of Eliphaz.
IF anyone forgets his weird voice check out Job chapter 4 on the audio.
Now my question is ...
Whoever this guy is..lol... did he ever give a talk... and did anyone take it seriously.... I never heard this high up brother give a talk and if he had I would have remembered it as a joke!
Anyone have his name?
Any talks?
I give him credit for being creepy.

Lets answer two points that are wrong:
1. Have the OT manuscripts been changed.
Likely. One only needs to compare the LXX to the Masoretic text to see this. While in the past many held the MT to be older now that is slowly falling away. Indeed the Septuagint is shorter in many places and besides that>>>>
2. The Torah predates written Hebrew language...WRONG! The oldest texts in the bible are from Judges 5 and Exodus 15 and possibly Psalms 45. The former two are in very old Hebrew predating 800 BCE but not going before 1000 BCE. The majority of the books from Genesis-2 Kings shows major Hellenistic influence from the beginning to the end. (Even the creation story in Genesis 2-3 is pulled not from the Epic of Gilgamesh but from Berosses Histories (which uses the Epic))
I will also mention that the Dead Sea scrolls community were a cult even weirder then Jehovah's Witnesses and their changes to any texts were more messianic and Apocalyptic then anything. The books of Enoch and Daniel were likely from that community.
As for Hebrew being the original language that is kind of laughable since the older languages are well known.

Writing a story
by HowTheBibleWasCreated ini was listening to the audiobook of the silmarillion at work awhile ago and noted that the 'creation story' basically included, god, the devil, angels and even a special people (elves).
(btw gandalf is obviously a jesus-like figure).
i got to thinking that much of the prose of the bible could easily be reworded.. after all bibles like the world english bible are copyright free.

Yeah I forgot about Jefferson. The way he does it makes that book look like the Gospel of Thomas lol. As for living a good life I would think if you remove every reference of God from Ecclesiastes it would be good.

Calling Cofty and others regarding evolution
by dubstepped inso i have started down the path of trying to understand evolution, and to get the linear lies that the jws planted in my head out of it.
i bought an audiobook called "evolution: what the fossils say and why it matters" by donald prothero.
i heard it recommended on an atheist podcast that i listened to.

Eividence? Where. All matter, energy, forces are reduced to the biggest jumble of mess called the standard model. It is so bad that the only way it can be explained is using string theroy. So I ask you does God sit around plucking strings and creating a mess? Because that is what our universe (and likely all the multiverse) is a mess.
BTW this god created the 2nd law of thermodynamics so you CANT live forever lol

Generation Z is not going to go for JWs. The children may like the cartoons and at that stage like the idea of God etc but once they get a smartphone and look stuff up like everyone else in that generation its all over.

How Many People Here Still Believe In “God”?
by minimus inbecause of this site i realized that there were many people who were active jehovah’s witnesses really didn’t believe in god at all.
i’m curious how many people believe in god?
i’m not interested in debating why you shouldn’t have a belief in a god or should.

Not at all. I rank myself somewhere between Taoism and Gnosticism each without the mysticism associated with them. God is not a I word I even use. (Enstein seems to have had a problem with that)

I got to thinking that much of the prose of the bible could easily be reworded.. after all bibles like the World English Bible are copyright free. Thus using a simple wordpad program I grabbed Genesis-2 Kings and replaced about 100 words. The I did alot of cutting out of portions of books or whole books. (Like Genesis, Leviticus and Judges)
After this I went through the remaining text and made my own beginning and ending. I brought in crossovers with some of my favorite stories (Star Wars, LOTR, Earagon even The Ring (Samara is made into a devil)) I replaced God with the Gnostic idea of wisdom (Sofia) and changed the name of every location and person. Some are humorous (Absalom became BamBam, Saul becomes Skoal etc)
(Ex. "My son Bambam, My Son BamBam. Oh that I had died instead of you BamBam my son my son." lol)
Lastly to add humor I added many F-words etc and laced the conversations with sexual inuendo until Iit was probably at least PG-13 and mildly entertaining. I also of course got rid of horses and replaced them with starship and speeders. (For instance Dawid kills Gaganax with a blaster through the head)
Finally since the story ended in exile I decided to have and Joan or Arc like sence of The Sofia being killed by her people. As a result they are exiled in the ending.
Once this was done I ran the text through a text-speech program and gave to file to a workmate that likes fantasy books. To my surprise he came back laughing and said it was way more better written then the bible stories. he recognized the outline of the story as the bible but it took awhile.
(This only took about 2 hours on a sleepness night with nothing to do lol. if anyone is wondering)
So this got me thinking.. Besides the Atheist Book of Bible Stories has anyone else done this? (Don't say Joseph Smith lol)

What was your trigger to waking up ?
by CovertsadJW ingood afternoon , .
i wanted to ask everyone here , what was your trigger to waking up ?
i have been waking up for a long time , but in looking back it’s hard for me to look at one event and say “ ah ha “ , i think mine is like a slow leak - like a crack in a damn - and then hold on , because after that it’s just a flood of information.

HowTheBibleWasCreated
I read the bible and saw how it compared to other texts from the ancient world. I couldn't figure out what to do if Genesis was myth so I decided to check and see if there was actually 100% proof of evolution. Ervs and Chromosome 2 were all that was needed.

The JW Study Bible and The Audio RNWT
by HowTheBibleWasCreated ini am guessing but based on what i have noted over 2 years of low to inactivity.. everytime a new book is started on the clam a new video pops up giving info on the book (my area btw so i can say all of them are wrong).
a new audio version is put out of that book at the same time.
(this is ok. the newer audio version can't hold a candle to the other 4 readers for the 1984 version, but at least it's semi-dramatized).

My prediction based on them starting the New Testament this year is that with the 4 gospels on the new study bible being used (Every verse explained in a JW way) As ACt-Revelation come out not only will remain audio readers and intro videos come out BUT the study bible will be completed... counting the OT in the next 4 years.
The reason I note this is that in 2013 when they released the RNWT my first thought was..."Idiots! Why not a study bible so you can CONTROL them."
It looks like by the end of 2022 JW might just be DONE with 'new light'. My theory is as the so-called new light comes in to the members it will be released instantly on the study bible as they go through the CLAM meeting. By 2022 JW religion will be as fixed as Catholicism.
