Joen I would like to see where the old testament prophecies of Jesus are fulfilled in John. See my hypothesis for the NT (which is months away in my book) is Marcionite priority. However I believe the Gospel of John is also Gnostic and predates the synoptics. I have noted reading John that although Jesus is defiantly the messiah to the Jews and was indeed prophesied in the Hebrew Bible I think his 'father' was not YHWH. I'm interested in hearing your comments.

More Mary Martha and Lazarus
by peacefulpete inin a previous thread discussing the rich man and lazarus parable in luke, the relationship of this parable to the lazarus resurrection story arose.
as i said in that thread i'm pretty convinced that the writer of john fleshed out this character in the rich man& lazarus parable into a narrative featuring a man named lazarus.
the reasons essentially are:.

Jehovah`s witnesses not the only religion GOD is using now ?
by smiddy3 inwhen confronted with angus stewart’s blunt question “do you see yourselves as jehovah god’s spokespeople on earth?” the answer that came from jackson’s lips was astounding.. “that i think would seem to be quite presumptuous to say that we are the only spokesperson that god is using.
the scriptures clearly show that someone can act in harmony with god’s spirit in giving comfort and help in the congregations, but if i could just clarify a little, going back to matthew 24, clearly, jesus said that in the last days ‐ and jehovah’s witnesses believe these are the last days ‐ there would be a slave, a group of persons who would have responsibility to care for the spiritual food.
so inthat respect, we view ourselves as trying to fulfill that role.”.

Did anyone notice that when Jackson was asked what Jesus would think about a certain verse he answered: "I hope to ask him someday".
Uh.... WTF.. This is a man that speaks with Jesus along with the other 7. What did he just do?. He reveled he can't speak to Jesus.

I disagree.. I believe John predates the synoptic gospels. The next gospel I believe was 'The Gospel of the Lord' a predecessor to Luke. In chapter 16 of Luke is the rich man and Lazarus. Note this post dates John. The author assumes Lazarus died and has the rich man beg for him to return. Also the mention of five brothers fits a verse in John 11 about men who wanted to kill Lazarus.

But now it's public record and if a JW who is PIMO is asked this question they can simply respond :"I agree with what GB member GJ said when he said^^^^"
Unless the elders want to accuse Jackson of perjury they would have to find the quote.

If you leave the WT and don’t get vaccinated, you will still have the virus and keep getting sick
by pistolpete inso the past couple of years, i’ve read several stories about jws who left the organization at an early age because they knew something wasn’t right------but they never bothered to research the religion.
there was this feeling that the watchtower was not god’s only channel.
so they left at an early age.

I disagree completely with the original post. All I needed was to see evolution was factual 100% and no more WT doctrine or bible. Done

Meetings
by pontoon inso remember how assembling together is a command and no man or government can stop us, even if it means going 'underground', even if means being arrested, jailed, beat....can't stop us from assembling together----until covid.
now it's "false regligion" fighting for their constitutional right to meet together while the jws seem to be perefectly happy zooming their lives away..

how do spouse's treat their partners if they leave the cult?
by mickbobcat inso i was fortunate enough to have a wife that listened and saw what i was saying was true and that the cult is bs.
but i wonder how bad it is in a relationship that one goes out of the cult and the other stays in.
i can see that being a real issue for a marriage.

My wife after my being inactive 3 years and irregular 7 has somewhat accepted my beliefs or lack of. When Im staying with her family in the philippines I will at times attend a meeting. But the good news is I see in the younger generation of my neices the streak of rebellion. If only someone would write a book for. Jws to show them the bible is not God's word.... Oh wait. That's what I'm doing 😂😜 for them
Ny wife and I have a good relationship outside jws. I told my wife I'm learning tai chi over Internet in morning and. She accepted it

What useful piece of literature have the JW produced?
by HowTheBibleWasCreated inseeing on another post here about former jws throwing away literature.
i am curious as to the various opinions on there value.. for me i have been inactive for 3 years almost 4. i still have alot of books and of course all their bibles ever produced (except a few from the 1800s.).
in my opinion i think there are four books the jws produced that are useful:.

Beth's list:
Proclaimers Book. Why? I have found so many holes in this book as for as witness history goes.
Live Forever Book - original printing. Yeah the pictures are funny. Especially the one with the French model and the demons. Not useful other then to show the idea of the generation ending in the 1980s..
Reasoning From the Scriptures. Yes this one is good for JW doctrine. I personally hated this book.
Revelation Climax - original printing.( but actually any copy will do) WTF... Nuff said
My Book of Bible Stories - original printing (again any copy will do) I learned to read from the audio of this played along to the book. But this book is a sad look at horror stories.

I have seen many movies or shows that make a passing reference to Jehovah's Witnesses but very few dwell on JWs. Some like a Deadly Devotion Episode I saw once tells a true story but the portal of JWs is all wrong. By movies I am not talking of documentaries. Those seem to abound today. I mean a story. As such I have seen four legitimate and very accurate portrayals of Jehovah's Witnesses with a couple of oddballs.
1. Confessions of a Teenage Jesus Jerk: This is 99% accurate. The only mistake is not a mistake but a copyright change from WT magazine to Truth magazine. Otherwise the portrayal of JWs is amazingly accurate and the book 'Crisis of Conscience makes an appearance halfway through the movie in the hands of an elder lol
2. Apostasy: Unlike the first I hate this movie. The coloring in the film is so bland and brown it's depressing. Otherwise the story is also 99% accurate and very sad.
3. Worlds Apart: 75% accurate. The story is a true story but the portrayal of certain witness activities is questionable. Such as sister preaching in pants in service. The elders with a beard is accurate for Denmark. The movie is a favorite of mine, The songs and books are changed for copyright otherwise I would lace this at 90%
4. Big Eyes: Okay this is not for Ex JWs I guess. It portrays JWS in a good light however since it is based on a true story and a well known one in JW land. (I remember the sister's biography in the magazines) The turht is good actors are in this movie that add some humor to it. In fact it's a good general movie. The Jehovah's Witnesses are portrayed 7-% accurate. Yes the truth book and NWT make an appearance. The only reason I rated it slightly low is the movies doesn't dwell that much on JWs,
Now for my hall of shame:
Witnesses of Jehovah
Witness at your Door
These are 100% accurate but rate very low by me. These two movies are from a woman that left one religion for an even worse religion. That being said they are very humorous.

Ok dropoff makes a point:
I have the KJV, ASV and Diaglott along with the Byington that JWs printed.
The All scripture book I don't find useful but the difference between the two versions is telling. The old book said in the section on Genesis that the universe was 49000 years old. The newer version of the All Scripture book changed this to 'In the Beginning'.
I also agree that the old Theocratic Ministry school book is useful for public speaking.
