Jesus-------What were you thinking!
by pistolpete inmost of the sermon on the mount, matthew 5-7 - is bizarre, vague or barbaric.
it actually smacks stupidity and not wisdom..
if you lust after a woman, you’ve committed adultery (thought crime) .

looking for Jw infomation about the bible being changed etc?
by Aposta-Fish inin one of mike and kim's latest videos they claim that the borg wrote in the 1960's that the book of revelations wasn't even finished until a much later date.
they have also stated that apostate christians changed the bible> i've also read years ago they trashed the bible or at least the king james years ago after another one of their fail predictions and right before they made their own bible> .
i'm looking for these writings and any other that where the borg is criticizing the bible?.

Dou a valid point and the best answer I can give is that they used the ASV just prior to 1950 so that the switchover to the NWT was not much of a shock,

I know this is an old post but I'll bring it up. I do this every morning and evening the last few weeks and have found I feel far more relaxed, more happy, have quicker reactions and above all better balance.

To be honest the Awakes from the 50s 60s and 70s were full of practical info. But in the 80s they lost that slowly and now the magazines are a joke.

The three categories of reality
by HowTheBibleWasCreated inbefore i start out let me tell everyone i'm an atheist and have been since i first started seeing the bible was not the word of god.
if someone asked my religion today i would likely answer daoist which teaches balance and non-action of events or to put in modern language 'go with the flow man'.
that being said i have over the last decade started catering certain beliefs and facts into three sections.. 1. the known.

That being said I have over the last decade started catering certain beliefs and facts into three sections.
1. The Known. This basically we call science even if it sometimes makes no sense (Ex. Entanglement)
2. The False. Such as Creationism or Resurrections of the dead.
3. The Unknown. This is a careful section. If one was for instance to try to include and afterlife here I would counter by saying only IF that is not contradicted by science. What this means is Atlantis might or might not have existed or maybe their are aliens in this galaxy just as intelligent as us. Or maybe we live in a simulation. Note that every single one of these doesn't change your life or morals.
The ones that JWs believe in #2 do make the enslavement and blood transfusion and poor education a side effect. Category 1 does change your life too actually. But almost always in a good way. For instance If your smart enough not to be a flat-earther then you note going to imagine that the navigator in your car is of the devil.

My new definition of cult.
by Yomama inforcing someone to believe something that is untrure and shunning them if they do not believe it.

HowTheBibleWasCreated
I actually agree with Lloyd Evans when he says all organized religions are cults but there is a large scale between your community church and Scientology or between the Sikh Temple and the Mormon temple. Anytime someone has an idea that they they must be ruled by a deity a cult will form. It might be light or (For JWs) it might be heavy.

Anybody Here That Still Wouldn’t Take or Give Blood?

I would say it would be a last resort. I mean if it's life threatening. But if it is relatively safe I would prefer alternatives.

Aposta-Fish
They teach that Revelation was finished in 96CE. As other posters have stated above they claim so-called apostate Christians changed the bible removing YHWH, They never trashed the KJV you can downllowd it from their website or use JW Library and add it to the app under 'languages'.As for their placing Jehovah 237 times in the NT they are not the only ones to do so. It's a common theory among Me3ssiac Jewish Christian that the name of YHWH was removed from the new testament -

why crown of thorns
by peacefulpete inmost here know that story elements in the jesus story are drawn from the ot.
countless elements of gospels are cut straight from the descriptions of ot characters like moses, joshua, samuel et.al.
an interesting suggestion involves a passage that was the very last straw for me years ago.

The story in Judges is a Helenistic fable like aesop. As for Jesus crown of throns I doubt the gospel writers thought of Judges 9. Likely they refered to Genesis 22 with the lamb in the thicket. (A story pulled from Iphigenia's sacrifice.)

Each for his own sins
by peacefulpete inis not the notion of one person dying for the sins of another rejected in this famous passage?.
20 the one who sins is the one who will die.
the child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child.

The idea is expressed fully in 1 Kings 21 i think. Ahab repents and YHWH forgives him.. BUT the punishment falls on his children who all die horribly. (Well actually 2 Kings 9 is slightly historical)
