i just wanted to get a feel for how many here have awakened to ttatt but are still carrying on some jw activities to pacify them and keep the peace.

also trying to hear from those who have left, but whose spouse has stayed in the wt and in the marriage.. for me it comes down to my own mental anguish.

i am mentally tortured by attending the meetings, yet i feel compelled to because my wife would kill me with her personality if i had her drag 2 small girls by herself there.

I'm still in due to my wife. However at this point (with all the changes) I would still go just to humerously see what they are really trying. I expect:

1. The Governing Body gets $$$

For those that have noticed I have seemed to neglect the Tribe of Judah until now.

I haven't.

In the Song of Deborah Judah (as well as Levi and Simeon) did not exist.

Levi was previously explained as joined priests of Egypt to the house of 'Aaron'.

Simeon will be dealt with in a later chapter on Hezekiah.

Judah of course deserves special treatment.

The two early texts that mention Judah are the Blessing of Moses (Dt. 33) and the Blessing of Jacob. (Gen. 49)
I believe the blessing of Moses was written in the early 700s BCE in Israel. The Blessing of Jacob was likely Judean written as a retraction to the former in the late 700s.

I will deal with both these texts when we come to them chronologically but for now lets see what they tell us about Judah.

Dt 33:
33:7This is for Judah. He said,
“Hear, Yahweh, the voice of Judah.
Bring him in to his people.
With his hands he contended for himself.
You shall be a help against his adversaries.”

Judah seems to be a nobody. Simply a helper.

Gen 49:
49:8“Judah, your brothers will praise you.
Your hand will be on the neck of your
enemies.Your father’s sons will bow down before
you.
49:9Judah is a lion’s cub.
From the prey,my son, you have gone up.
He stooped down, he crouched as a lion,
as a lioness.
Who will rouse him up?
49:10The scepter will not depart from Judah,
nor the ruler’s staff frombetween his feet,
until he comes to whom it belongs.
To him will the obedience of the peoples
be.
49:11Binding his foal to the vine,
his donkey’s colt to the choice vine;
he has washed his garments in wine,
his robes in the blood of grapes.
49:12His eyes will be red with wine,
his teeth white with milk.

This text is a retraction to the Blessing of Moses and potrays Judah as the best rularship ever. However a quick glance at Dt 33 again is SHOCKING!

33:22Of Dan he said,
“Dan is a lion’s cub
that leaps out of Bashan.”

A lion cub?

Why did the Judeans use a line ascribed to Dan?

The Judean text (Blessing of Jacob) says about Dan:

49:16“Dan will judge his people,
as one of the tribes of Israel.
49:17Dan will be a serpent in the way,
an adder in the path,
That bites the horse’s heels,
so that his rider falls backward.

We previously noted that the Danites were a sea people that landed in Israel. (Denyens)

Why is Judah getting the same blessing as Dan had previously and more important why is Dan portrayed as a highwaymen?

The answer might be in a boring list contained in the book of Joshua. According to Joshua the Danites lived by the sea. (Already established) and later moved out and conquered a city in the far north.

What is more curious though is that the location borders Judah to the west. A territory later ascribed to the Sea people (Philistines)
Putting this all together we see a slow picture:

1. Denyan(Danites) land on the coast of Israel in both the north and south.

2. In the North they will later conquer Laish and form the city of Dan.

3. In the South they will either become or more likely intigrate into Philistine tribes.

4. In the 1000-900 BCE period they move to the highlands. The form a new tribe. 'The Lauders' (Judah)under a rular named Asa

5. Local Cheiftians are established with the neighbouring Jebusites in Jerusalem and other smaller tribes by 870 BCE under a rular who was likely named Jehoshaphat in later years (assuming he shared Yahweh worship )

6. Ahab, while in war with the Syrians sees advantage in marrying his daughter to this Dynesty the son of Jehosaphat, Jehoram.

From this point on this provance of the Omrites would become known by a new name. 'House of the Beloved'.
The next chapter will deal with this marriage and origins of the so-called House of David.

Crazy Thanks. I think they actually did worship Yahweh for the reason of the names of Ahab's children:

Jehoram, Ahaziah, Ataliah . All those names contain Yahweh's name. However I think (given the Pslam and the connection of Jezebel to Baal) we can assume El and Baal were the primary gods of their house. Yahweh was a war god and only worshipped in battle is my idea.

Just my thoughts.

Ahab likely had many wives. However examining the Psalms we find a curious wedding hymn in Psalm 45.
Before dealing with the Psalm we need to know where it was written and who it was written for. Lets examine 1 Kings 16 first.

16:30Ahab the son of Omri did that
which was evil in the sight of Yahweh above all that were before him.
16:31It happened, as if it
had been a light thing for him to walk in the
sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat,

that he took

as wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of
the Sidonians, and went and served Baal, and
worshiped him. 16:32He reared up an altar for
Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built
in Samaria.

and
Ahab did yet more to provoke Yahweh, the God
of Israel, to anger than all the kings of Israel
who were before him.

A quick examination of the name of Jezebel and that of her father Ethbaal reveals quickly which deity they worshipped. The text (although written hundreds of years later) likely perserves the truth in that Ahab, likely a Yahweh worshipper in battle, made a special altar and temple for Baal to please his wife and likely to gain favor from more then one deity.

Indeed El was still the head god for these people.

What does this have to do with Psalm 45?

Pslam 45 ONLY mentions Northern locations and more specifically areas on the Israel/Syria/Sidion border. Not only that, the description of the King given is that of a king geared for war.

Ahab fought many wars with Syria accorsding to archeology and biblical texts.

Lets examine the text of the hymn:

1My heart overflows with a noble theme.
I recite my verses for the king.
My tongue is like the pen of a skillful
writer.

This is a scribe or a hired musician.

2You are the most excellent of the sons of men.
Grace has anointed your lips,
therefore El has blessed you forever.

Introduction of the groom.

3Strap your sword on your thigh, mighty one:
your splendor and your majesty.
4In your majesty ride on victoriously on behalf
of truth, humility, and righteousness.
Let your right hand display awesome
deeds.
5Your arrows are sharp.
The nations fall under you, with arrows
in the heart of the king’s enemies.

A warrior king but a wise one.Indeed Ahab's rules was extremly prosperous.

6Your throne, El, is forever and ever.
A scepter of equity is the scepter of your
kingdom.

A praise for El.

7You have loved righteousness, and hated
wickedness.
Therefore El;, your God, has anointed
you with the oil of gladness above
your fellows.
8All your garments smell like myrrh, aloes, and
cassia.
Out of ivory palaces stringed instruments
have made you glad.

The description here matches the Omrite palace in Samaria according to archeology. Now for Jezebel-The Bride>>

9Kings’ daughters are among your honorable
women.
At your right hand the queen stands in
gold of Ophir.
10Listen, daughter, consider, and turn your ear.
Forget your own people, and also your
father’s house.
11So the king will desire your beauty,
honor him, for he is your lord.

12The daughter of Tyre comes with a gift.
The rich among the people entreat your
favor.
13The princess inside is all glorious.
Her clothing is interwoven with gold.
14She shall be led to the king in embroidered

They shall enter into the king’s palace.

The last lines are a blessing on children.

16Your sons will take the place of your fathers.
You shall make them princes in all the
earth.

The last lines are praising El.

17I will make your name to be remembered in
all generations.
Therefore the peoples shall give you
thanks forever and ever.

Jezebel and Ahab would have several sons and at least one daughter.

It is at this point we must consider a small but growing people to the south of Israel in a semi-arid highland. These were a curious people and their true origins have been debated. By Ahab's time these people have formed a stablized society, though not yet a kingdom.
Ahab's and Jezebel's daughter would form a marriage alliance with this house.

Before we deal with that marriage be must discuss the origins of these people. (It it rather shocking to some)
The Tribe of Judah will be the next topic.

A shaved Head

my wife complained along time that i let my hair grow to long (i don't belive in this anyway) but to make peach i asked her to buzz my hair 4 months ago.... shorter... shorter... let me shave the rest.. it' been shaved since then and i like the yul brynner look.. i feel like pharoah...j.k. at the kh few have questioned... i mean im hardly breaking 1 corinthians lol.

as for wordly styles this style is almost what a certian governing body member has.... and they know it... they hate sanderson!.

now i have since experiance the sun on my head in summer...feels good... my wife liking it now.... .

a big discussion driving back from the regional convention about what exactly was meant about pets.. the warning was obvious to me.

don't get pets, they cost time and money and you would do better to spend your time and money supporting the organization and going in field service.. as to the wine and beer, because the bro during his soliloquy admitted that the first thing he would like to do is relax after a hectic day at work with a glass of wine or beer, his conscience was traumatized.

however he came up with a perfect idea, he'd go tend the garden (obviously a solution for a married bro) or hit some golfballs at the driving range (maybe he's not married).. maybe jesus should have told the wine guzzlers at cana to sober up and go till the fields.. .

Life evolves by natural selection NOT BY CHANCE!

There is alot of life... BUT Most is Single celled... the rest is different for Earth...

On some Earth-like planet I suspect mnay forms of life will be found but the ones proposed here will be differnt for various reasons... BTW>>

Once found give a finger to the WBTS and walk away since they have preached solidly there is no life on other planets...F.. them

I'm not changing anytime soon.. There are 2 elder (out of 7) that want me to change... I told one.. Sanderson does it.. the other who pisses me off: "Am I in Nazi Germany or something?"... He backed off.

Many black brothers I note are bald to by choice.. it makes sense...someties their hair is harder to take care of.

As for me I find hair on the head and evolutionary-leftover and sexual mutation..(It probably is) It hinders me and I see no use for hair on the head and envy those that naturaly (bladness) lose it now.
