Biology professor speaks out about Watchtower misquoting him
by EndofMysteries inhttp://www.inquisitr.com/1766536/biology-professor-creationist-magazine/.
a biology professor is speaking out, demanding an apology and calling for an end to attempts to perpetuate lies against evolution after a statement from him was taken out of context in a creationist article in awake!, a jehovahs witness publication.
he says that a portion of his statement was picked from the whole, leaving a completely different impression from his actual statement.. .

That's awesome to hear SIAR! So she didn't see his mentions of exjws and immediately reject it? That's what's prevented me from showing my wife. Though I have shown her the misquotes and it didn't seem to phase her so this might not help either. Sounds like you played it well. -

The 'Message" is spread into 700 languages...SO WHAT??? Big Deal!
by stuckinarut2 inyou know how the org goes on and on about how the "preaching work" takes place in so many languages by the website?.
they also trumpet the fact that witnesses are in "sooooo many lands and nations"....... so what!.
just because the message is spread far and wide, does not mean the content of the message is correct or of value.. take the example of coca-cola or mcdonalds.... these products are in nearly every nation around the world....but does that mean they are beneficial or healthy?

Not to mention the fact that translating it into Hindi doesn't actually do anything significant to reach the billion or so in india that will never see it. -

WALKING DEAD fans - Was that a JW at the very end of the latest episode?
by Zoos indid you see the last episode?
that nicely dressed, freshly-shaven young man that came out from behind the trees at the very end and said:.

LOL!
God I hope if there's a zombie apocalypse whatever JWs survive will wake up and not keep knocking on doors.
Edit: In this thread I learned that Viviane is a Doctor Who fan.

Don't want to post my specific location, but I'm in the US.
Last assembly, just shy of 1200 people watched 3 born-ins get baptized. The age range was something like 10-15.

The Watchtower logically prefers everyone that knows TTATT to disfellowship themselves
by enigma1863 inevery active jw that stays in hiding their knowledge about ttatt is a hole in the watchtower wall.
i propose those who can stay in, should, especially if they have high positions.
how else can we know what they are up to?

While I get what you're driving at, I suspect that there will always be enough people that are in the process of waking up so that we'll always have leaks for the near future. I can't imagine encouraging someone to be so selfless that they stay in a cult merely to inform others of the goings-on if they aren't otherwise stuck in for the time being. Additionally, I would struggle with the moral implications of providing tacit endorsement to the cult by the prolonged presence inside the cult. You never know what other person in the cult might be looking up to you thinking "well if it makes enough sense to him that he's staying, I guess I'll stay too." -

I wish I knew what those were.
I was feeling generous so I did the legwork for ya
All quotes are from the JW abomination of a "bible"
Ephesians 6:2,3, in reference to the command found in Exodus 20:12 and Deuteronomy 5:16.
“Honor your father and your mother” is the first command with a promise: “That it may go well with you and you may remain a long time on the earth.”
Matthew 19:17-19
He said to him: “Why do you ask me about what is good? One there is who is good. If, though, you want to enter into life, observe the commandments continually.” 18 He said to him: “Which ones?” Jesus said: “You must not murder, you must not commit adultery, you must not steal, you must not bear false witness, 19 honor your father and your mother, and you must love your neighbor as yourself.”
If you show that one to him, you can give it a little extra power by suggesting that it's significant that showing honor to one's parents was mentioned in the same breath as murder (this is a line of reasoning that JWs often use to increase the importance of relatively minor commands)Romans 1:28-32
Just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them over to a disapproved mental state, to do the things not fitting. And they were filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, and badness, being full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice, being whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, schemers of what is harmful, disobedient to parents, without understanding, false to agreements, having no natural affection, and merciless. Although these know full well the righteous decree of God—that those practicing such things are deserving of death—they not only keep on doing them but also approve of those practicing them.
2 Timothy 3:1-7
But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.
Again, in these verses having no natural affection is grouped with some other pretty bad stuff. Of course JWs are trained to recognize these verses as applying only to "worldly" people, so it might be a little difficult to make your point with them.

"Whilst the bible is important, the Watchtower is God's main way of communicating with people today"
by stuckinarut2 inyes, i'm not kidding!.
this gem was stated today in the talk!
(shortly before i walked out).

Jesus. No wonder you walked out.
Almost makes me wonder if the elder giving the talk disagrees with that point if he felt the need to wash his hands of it by making it clear that it was verbatim in the outline.

Witness hypocrisy regarding politicians and their failed promises!
by stuckinarut2 inyou know it dawned on me that witnesses and indeed the gb love to highlight how political leaders and groups can never be trusted to keep their promises, and often change their ideas, policies and platforms as time goes on...once they have already gained the power from the people.. hmmm.....sound familiar???.
this is blatant hypocrisy!.
the org has gained "power and control", then countless times failed to keep its "policies or promises or platform teachings" as time moves on.

Politicians can be voted out but they will simply be replaced by others who will act the same. Those who seek power in any field are those you can least trust for any reason.
“The major problem—one of the major problems, for there are several—one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them. To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it. To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.” ― Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe
