Pronomono - I think those have been available for a couple months for order. Quite a few of the older ones in my hall have 'em

Assembly News Photo
by snare&racket inthis photograph from a news site is a succinct summary of a life in wt's hands....... look at their faces, it says it all.. also, note the watchtower pr machine in action, explaining that it brings 4 million dollars to the location.
(10,000 x 400 dollars) clearly a watchtower statistic, where is the care and interest for members who are struggling so much, with new videos encouraging less career activity, less work commitments, at an all time economic low for our generation.. http://www.standard-freeholder.com/2014/06/15/thousands-attend-watchtower-convention-in-cornwall.
father: "i'm a wt 'yes' man and proud of it!

Take a moment and look at it an entirely different way . . .
by Terry ina transcendant being resides as a glob of cellular matter in a woman's body for nine months stitching together a human without the dna of a male human being.. the being is squeezed out of the vaginal canal of his host/mother and has to poop and piss on himself for a couple of years.
what is wrong with this picture?.
the consciousness of the fetus would be what, then?.

The way it was always explained to me was that Jesus was, essentially, a perfect human for the first 30 years of his life. Then, after baptism, when he went and fasted for 40 days, he sort of regained his memories of being in heaven and what not. Whether this is actually an accurate interpretation of scripture, I don't know, and I don't care because it's clearly all BS anyway.

Can you choose what you believe?
by noonehome ini hear it all the time.. people who decide it isn't the truth and leave are said to deep down know they're leaving the truth, choosing instead whatever ideology suits their imperfect desires.
in the new dvd the little kid asks why people believe in evolution and the dad basically says people believe whatever they want.
the actual issue is never actually addresed though: "did life evolve?

People choose to believe things that are demonstrably false all the time. The problem is that when the consequences of an idea (i.e. "this isn't the truth" to a JW) is too much to bear (it means they'll have to leave and be shunned, armageddon isn't comming, they're going to die in this system with no savings for retirement, etc, etc) it's a more pleasant thing to go on living in ignorance and push down the opposing evidence. At a certain point (the threshold is different for different folks) the evidence can force them to face facts and change belief. Unfortunately, the WT has done such a thorough job of controlling what information JWs are allowed to take in, the opposing facts don't get seen as much as they should and most keep going despite any doubts.

2029 - the year NOBODY from 1914 will still be alive.
by EndofMysteries ingoing by the oldest verified by birth cert living person is 115 years old, in 15 years not only will not "millions now living will never die(1914)" be untrue, but even 1 single person now living will never die will be out.
i wonder what the spin will be then w/ the wt.
it's just around the corner, don't go to school, give us all your money and assets, it's happening real soon now.

I should also add, that every change to the generation teaching (EXCEPT the overlap) had at least some kind of scriptural reasoning to back it up, as flimsy as it may have been. The single paragraph in the 2014 WT that explains the overlap has NO SCRIPTURE CITED. That's one of the things that really got me questioning it.
Edit:
Actually I take that back, It cited scriptures, but none were relevant to setting a precedent of an overlap.

Crazyguy - the 1995 change wasn't to overlapping generations, it was to "the generation that saw the signs but failed to change their ways" which was a way of saying the generation could last indefinitely until armageddon comes. Then in 2008, they changed it to be the annointed ones from Jesus' day till armageddon (still doesn't put a time limit, armageddon could be 200 years off) then in 2010, they intro'd the overlap BS. I must've missed it then, but I don't think i was alone. I hadn't heard it talked about much until they re-capped it this year, and now it's come up more frequently. I think it may take a while to sink in (especially with all the 100 years of kingdom rule hype) but I think people will start to wake up because of it once things settle down a bit and they realize that it's just another in a long line of moves to kick the can a little down the road.
It's funny how the end of the generation always seems to line up nicely with the expected lifetime of those in power.

No one talks about the "millions now living will never die" stuff. Most don't even know about it. There used to be a copy in a display case in the KH lobby, but it was removed several years ago.
Now everyone's focused on the new generation teaching, which was carefully formulated to put the end within the next 20 years at most, so surely it's right around the corner now.

one reason for the dumbing down of the org
by Magnum ina lot of us have said that theres been a dumbing down in jw land.
its just not like it used to be especially a few decades ago.
it seems to me that if jw are right and the end of the world is near, the spiritual food should get tastier and more nourishing as time goes on, but it's getting more and more bland and less nourishing.

Does that mean the current WT literature is the religious equivalent of Jerry Springer and Honey Boo-Boo?
I see it more as the religious equivalent of "Clifford the Big Red Dog"

Does No Solicitation equal Put on "Do not Call List"?
by ABibleStudent ini live in a townhome complex.
a few days ago i asked the property manager to ask the local kingdom hall to no longer place wtbts literature (propaganda) at the complex because the area is posted as no solicitation and because the literature is sometimes blown away from doors becoming litter.. today i received a response that the kingdom hall agreed to no longer place literature at the complex and to let him know if wtbts literature is placed at the complex.
i was shocked how easy it was for the kh representative to agree to no longer place literature at the complex.

Either what Jamie said, or you just got your complex put on a phone witnessing territory.

I remember when churches were regularly criticized for having ATMs in the lobby....now they've got credit card machines at the assemblies and conventions. When that first happened, it definitely "stumbled" me. Its like the average JW doesn't even have a memory beyond 2 years ago...
