  Personally, I think that the method he used to reach a GB member would have been much more valuable in the hands of a journalist.  ABC (or was it NBC) recently got access to film the Candice Conti appeal, and I'm sure they would've jumped at the chance to get a quick sound bite from a GB member.  

  He could well have coached them on the lingo, and how to keep up the facade of being a member (if that would've been necessary) and a proper journalist with experience in asking tough questions from people in power would likely have made much more of the opportunity than to scold AMIII for his tight-pants rant.

  This was an opportunity squandered, and another thing for indoctrinated JWs to point at in order to reinforce the "bitter apostate" label.  Maybe it wouldn't have yielded any results in the hands of a journalist, but at least it would've had a chance.  As it is, this was worthless at best and damaging to the apostate cause at worst.

  the wbt$ video "become jehovahs friend"... is about caleb and his sparlock warrior wizard toy... the lesson is "magic is evil"... .

  in the wbt$ video 'if you could see what i see"... your taken though the day of a wbt$ literature "cart with a heart"... it has a home... it thinks..it can see..it hears..it sings..it can feel!!...

  Reminds me of a local needs a while back when twilight was all the rage.  While he didn't mention the movie by name, it was clear what he meant.  He even went so far as to say "some of the kids that want to see these movies have said things like 'but they're good vampires'... Are you hearing yourself???"

  If anyone happens to know of any quotes from the WT where they called talking inanimate objects demonic or satanic, I'd love to have that for reference.

  GB need to go back into hiding like they use to be.

  the broadcasting, annual meetings, wt articles, talks etc... that show these gb members upfront are killing them!

  they are not only making a complete fool of themselves but they expect us to sit and watch them, listen to them and then believe they are the direct communication with jehovah!?!.

  i can't tell you how many comments i've heard from "spiritual" people that i thought i'd never hear them say, not in a good way!

  Yeah, it's easy for you and I to say that it's a mistake, but it may well be great for them in the long run.  It will almost certainly push a few out, but people inevitably want someone to follow.  They want a figure head.  Just like the isrealites (supposedly) wanted a king instead of just following the instructions of the priests and judges, many JWs will likely lap it up because it's human nature to want to have someone to follow.

  Some will leave, but the ones that don't will be increasingly more zealous from it all.

  I just had a thought about the new KH design

  i've been trying to figure out the purpose of the new (bland, commercial style) building that the gb is pushing.

  it is not a design that attracts attention, nor does it offer a lot in future resale value.

  it will be more difficult to build than the wood residential style buildings, meaning they can't use their cheap unskilled labor force for a lot of the work.

   if the building has been dedicated to God, how could they turn around and sell it? 

  As dedicated witnesses of Jehovah, we still must "sell" our skills and labor to an employer to provide for everyday necessities.  Similarly, what a wonderful opportunity we have to support kingdom interests by renting out dedicated buildings in order to fund the preaching work!

  Doesn't take much to twist things in order to justify it.  The civil rights issues could probably be side-stepped in most cases too.  For one thing, I can't see any gays wanting to get married in a KH.  JWs only do it because they can't afford a nicer place due to the education ban or the fact that they mostly get married right out of highschool.  what in the world (other than having it out for the cult) would motivate some gays to want to get married there?  Even in that case, can't churches establish rules about who can get married there?  Things like pre-marital counseling, etc?  They could probably make it either prohibitively expensive for a non-JW to get married there, or set the rules so strict that no one would bother.  They could count all the meetings, etc that JWs do as time towards this requirement and therefore JWs could still use it to get married without the trouble.

  Anyway, I suspect they'd be able to come up with something.  If not, they can always quote a few scriptures out of context to silence any critics.

  I wonder if that explains why they're using mostly apple products for assembly halls and KH tech stuff.  The guy inside apple might be using his sway with JWs to help his career and his career to gain power with the JWs.

  1. the meeting notes (which seem to be genuine, several sources now) for the ldc roll out talk about the need for 500, yes, 500 new halls.. 2. they are not interested in what property is available, but instead what is 'optimal', and are training couples to search for 'optimal' property.. 3. if the buildings did not have a sign that said jw .org (i refuse to give them a free link) and kingdom hall of jehovah's witnesses, you could not tell it from a small bank or office building, just check the pictures.. .

  this makes me think that a) they either need to build and sell commercial property very quickly, or they just want to build and sell commercial property very quickly.. .

  think about this: to build a kingdom hall (church), you need a variance, whether commercial or residential.. i predict they will put these in primarily commercial locations, ie, 'optimal' locations.. .

  I wouldn't at all be surprised if immediately after having a new commercial building (Kingdom Hall) built with free labor that they sell it before a new congregation is even assigned there.  The JW's won't even care, they'll be happy that headquarters gets all that money, truly a sign from God!  Yuck!  
  

  It seems far-fetched at first, but when you really think about it, it wouldn't be that difficult to do, especially with the new LDC setup.  They'll bring in volunteers from another area, build a KH that no one locally knows about, then send the volunteers away and sell it.  The volunteers would never expect to see the KH again, and anyone local that heard about it would just assume that another congregation is using it.  The buildings are generic, so if someone drives by it in it's new use, they would just assume that they were mistaken and the KH was somewhere else.

  I wouldn't expect it to happen frequently, but it wouldn't surprise me if it happened occasionally to boost the bottom line.

  i just started to watch the february broadcast when i noticed a metallic rattle over the drone of sam's voice.

  (does that man speak with a mouth full of chowin' tobacco or is he choking on the rubbish he reads off the autocue?).

  Regardless of whether it's a rolex or a knock-off or some other big brand's version of a rolex,  weren't we always told as JWs that appearances matter?  You can't be alone with someone your dating, not because you'll definitely have sex, but because it might look like you could've had sex.  You don't wear flashy clothes to the KH even if they're cheap imitations because it looks like you're making a "showy display."  It doesn't matter what it really is, or how he got it.  What matters is that he's a televangelist wearing a gold watch that looks exactly like a $20k rolex, along with 2 gold rings.  

  I don't care if that watch came out of a box of cracker-jacks, his wearing it for a public appearance on the web is absolutely the height of hypocrisy.

  one cant help but notice all of the dramatic changes thathave been happening to the organization.

  this is not the religion that i grewup in.

  im not saying that the religion that i grew up in was better, justdifferent.

  Yeah, it's all a bit much.  I think they're just changing things just for the sake of change.  It's like they're trying to emulate the hit TV shows these days - always a new plot twist, and the protagonist's goal is always just out of reach.

  so, i have been badgered recently to do some kind of family study by my wife.

  thanks to tv.jw.org i now have a really easy tool to use that not only passes this time but actually makes them question the organisation.. our sessions skipping through the delights of the monthly broadcast have been very interesting.

  What a loving provision it is for these men to wear many rings.  Just like god allowed isrealites of little means to offer a dove as a sacrifice, so too does the GB allow us to kiss their rings instead of their asses.
