Satan Using Google - What Next?
by berrygerry inin the apostasy trial - part 2, one of the illuminati elders states that "satan is using google.".
it would appear that the elder is correct.. "google (googl, tech30) once again revived its "person finder" tool this weekend.
the tool helps people search for and post information about missing friends and family in the disaster zone.

Of course he's using google. Who can find what they're after on bing? -

"Normal family affections and dealings" continue - If only?!?
by LHS123 ini am new to this forum - it is only a couple of weeks since i have allowed myself to acknowledge and research my doubts.
i am trying to be fair by reading both sides of the story and considering jw official explanation of confusing matters.
one of the issues i have been looking at is shunning - and i was shocked to see the misleading information about shunning on the jw.org website: .

OneEyedJoe
Yeah. They actually recently revised the faq on shunning. Previously it was much more misleading. It still is pretty misleading though. Another part that's clearly deceptive is that they say that people are only disfellowshipped for breaking the bible's moral code. But many here have experienced that you can easily be disfellowshipped for imitating the bereans that Paul gave such high praise to. Not to mention a whole host of other things not condemned by the bible (smoking, birthdays, associating with DF'd family, etc. etc.) -

Evidence based folks: what is your stance on GMO's and why?
by cappytan inso, the anti-gmo movement scored another victory today.
chipotle has opted to only use non-gmo food items.. hooray for them.
i'm pretty neutral on the subject, mostly because, other than questionable treatment of farmers, i have seen no evidence to avoid gmo's for health reasons.. basically, my neutrality boils down to the stance that i'll buy non-gmo, so long as the price is reasonable.

It depends on how they're modified. If they modify corn to store up a little more water in order to be more drought tolerant, I've seen no reason to believe that this would result in the corn being bad for our health (well no more than regular corn). If they modify it to produce toxic insecticides, then maybe we shouldn't be eating it.
This is the sort of problem that happens when you lump a broad group of things into one catchy label. We've been producing hybrid plants (for example, the tangelo) for a very long time, and in most cases GMOs are just more advanced versions of that. Most of the fear over GMOs, in my opinion, is based solely around it's novelty.
Since there's not much market for corn that kills people, I'm not too worried...

is this still a belief? no 'marraige' after being resurected?
by sowhatnow ini was having a discussion with my sister yesterday, and she said to me,'mom told me that if dad dies at armageddon, she cant get remarried in the new system' .
i told he i have never heard such a thing, but i do recall that it was believed that anyone who dies now, cannot be married in the 'new world' because they are to be as angels in heaven.. she said , so why be resurrected if yiu cant live your dream of having a loving mate and perfect children?
god is still dictating to you how you will live.

Wow joe, they finally corrected that teaching? Took long enough!
Yep...I only paid attention because our CO that gave the talk could barely get through it, having lost his wife (that he clearly loved immensely) about 4 years ago. Afterward I said to my wife "you know, they really could've saved a lot of people a huge amount of heartache if only they weren't so dogmatic about that." Her response was "oh...I guess that [the no marriage for resurrected ones doctrine] never really mattered to me." ugh.

That was, as far as I know, never a belief regarding living forever on the earth and only for the anointed.
No, this always applied to people who had the earthly hope, until a QFR article last year. They also covered it in the last talk of the assembly last year - that now this was apparently only talking about people in heaven, and we can't say for sure what people on earth will be allowed.

Wow. That could not be a more honest look for a GB member - wolf in sheep's clothing.
What is going in here?

"They 'thought' themselves out of the truth, and clearly they are living an unhappy life now!"
by stuckinarut2 inyep, these gems and comments were used in the talk today:.
speaking of ones who "failed to show appreciation for all the rich spiritual food we get from the f&ds", the speaker said this:.
"many have even failed to keep up with everything we are lovingly provided by christ's brothers, and rather than keeping their faith strong, they have become complacent and even critical ofjehovah's provisions!

And the main reason that ex-JWS are miserable (those who are) is because of the loss of their family!
This is the point the consistently forget. It's like saying, don't eat red meat, because if you do, I'll cut off your tongue. This is a protection for you, because everyone that's disobeyed me and ate red meat lost their ability to speak!
F*** this cult.

Wait, so that thread about child cannibalism that I've been avoiding was supposed to be about something else? -

Dangerous "Pent up" feelings inside of most witnesses?
by stuckinarut2 ini have often wondered if there is more harm done to people who are stifled or smothered from expressing their natural conduct, feelings or actions because of it being condemned by religious ideals?.
so if a person keeps suppressing their real personality and tries to mould themselves to the "perfect" or "ideal" version as expected from those controlling them, could they eventually "bust" so to speak?.
for instance, witnesses condemn many forms of entertainment.

Based on the rampant claims of things like chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalga, lower back problems, hives, chronic pain, etc, etc. I think there's got to be something tremendously unhealthy about the lifestyle. There seems to be a disproportionately great number of psychologically influenced conditions among JWs. At least in my area, but it seems that this isn't limited to one place based on what I've read on the forum.
Adding in things like excessive drinking, overeating, etc that people also do when dealing with mental stress and you start to see why so many JWs have things like gout, diabetes, and heart problems too. All likely caused by either the "can never do enough" lifestyle or repressing inner thoughts/doubts.

"I just don't like being lied to"
by stuckinarut2 inso i dropped this comment to someone from "my" congregation...... "i just don't like being lied to".... this was in response to their attempt to become my 'bff' (i'm sarcastically using the expression 'best friends forever' here).
i ran into them in the street.
they started chatting all about the cong gossip, teachings, upcoming witness events etc.... i was just quiet and not really contributing to the conversation.. when she asked "so what's new with you?
-
OneEyedJoe
Such a good line. I've used that with my wife (though that's gone a bit differently haha). It's great because it's expressing a feeling that no one can argue with and only indirectly makes an accusation. I'm sure you'll get some more conversations with your new BFFs though!
