Hey joe. I've thought about approaching it with my dad as well. Is your dad a deep thinker? My dad is and I have hopes that he might eventually start questioning the Borg. But on the other hand he is in his mid sixties and is an elder. For him to wake up now would be incredibly difficult. -

Reliable source - new round of US Bethel layoffs coming soon
by sir82 inwas talking to an ex-bethelite who is still very well-connected to those in the ivory tower.. he says that there will soon be a(nother) large number of us bethelites who will be "reassigned to the field" as pioneers and special pioneers.. he did not give his source, but he is pretty reliable.
incidentally, he was "reassigned to the field" in the last big purge about 7 years ago.. i imagine those so reassigned would be pretty teed off.
let go just before the golden lakeshore palace was completed..

by sloppyjoe2 indid any of you have a family member or close friend become an apostate first and you shunned them for it only to eventually see the light?

My bro in law DA-ed a few years back. He did nothing to try to convince any of us. He just left. I think I was already waking up before that though. We were never close and live in different parts of the U.S. I haven't ever told him that I am awake. I want to but it's tricky. As far as he knows I still view him as a mentally diseased appostate. But in reality I owe at least a portion of my waking up to him. -

i have nothing against gay people and wish them only the best.. but of course i'm in a minority of one, the jw's around me are posting away on fb the most homophobic vitriol imaginable.

i have nothing against gay people and wish them only the best.. but of course i'm in a minority of one, the jw's around me are posting away on fb the most homophobic vitriol imaginable.

I haven't heard a whole lot yet. A dub posted a meme on Instagram about how the rainbow was gods promise regarding the flood but that was hijacked by people who do something God dislikes.
I am curious if more will say stuff about it. A lot of dubs in our area seem to be homophobes.

Has there been new counsel about Facebook recently?
by purrpurr ini've noticed increasing amounts of jw's are coming off fb and deactivating completely.
all with the same reason which they post about at lenght which is that they wwant to focus more on their spiritual life and not have the distraction of fb.. have i missed something or is this just a coincidence?.

Prob just coincidence. I haven't hear anything lately at our hall. If they go to the same hall it's possible that they had a local needs on the dangers of social media. -

Where are the Young Elders?

which was the norm back then.. now, i very rarely here of a young man becoming an elder.
in our town we have 2 english congregations.

Our hall. Around ten elders. 1 is mid 40s. The next youngest is 58 ish. The rest are old. The average age is 64. I did the math. -

Bethel Meeting at Regional Convention
by MrTheocratic ini decided to go to the bethel recruiting meeting yesterday to test out my theory that the organization is in decline.
i assumed that if there is a general feeling of apathy by many in the org, then certainly it would be shown up by the lack of enthusiasm or zeal by many to sign up for bethel service.
well let me say that based on what i observed, this organization is not going anywhere.

Magnum. You make great points. There are def issues in dub land. There is no good fresh blood coming in. But these ones that I see in my area who are all in (applying to bethel, etc... ) aren't rejects. They are normal successfull people. I really don't know what it will take to wake this group up. -

Thanks for the Intel. I agree that there are plenty of 20-30 year olds who are all in. This cult isn't going away for awhile.
