Trying to find an opportunity to discuss the TTATT with my Father.

Just recently I've been thinking about trying to talk about TTATT to my father. I'm just trying to find an opportunity. I know he will never leave it - or I would be surprised if he did. But ì just want to give him a chance to know what is going on e.g molestation, property fire sales etc . I mentioned the other night (with the hope he would connect the dots) about how a bethel was sold for X million $$$$ and Brooklyn went for a billion, and yet nothing has been said of where it's gone or what it's been used for. Of course he was totally unaware of the sums involved and just replied it was been used for the preaching work. I replied by saying "well you would at least think that they would want to state that to avoid unwise speculation amongst the friends and all the rubbish the news media is printing". I have to be careful about what I reveal, as I'm inactive now. So I have to give the impression that I know only what he tells me. Other wise I would have to reveal my source of information. Any thoughts. -

The only way I have successfully introduced TTATT to anyone without raising suspicion and getting them to really think about it is to bring up the subject as if a coworker, schoolmate, or other non-JW posed the question to you. It still usually takes some personal experience, or so I'm told, but I think if you can keep dropping little things like this they eventually add up. -

Hey joe. I've thought about approaching it with my dad as well. Is your dad a deep thinker? My dad is and I have hopes that he might eventually start questioning the Borg. But on the other hand he is in his mid sixties and is an elder. For him to wake up now would be incredibly difficult. -

Ask questions. Most JWs will become defensive if confronted with anything not pro Watchtower, but if you are just asking questions it doesn't seem as confrontational and you may get your point across without getting called on it. It's hard to do and may depend on your father and your relationship with him and how well you can say things with a straight face.
You could say you don't understand the overlapping generation thing and ask him to explain it.
You could say you saw a news report about Candace Conti and wondered if he knows anything about it.

Maybe you could ask him, if this is God's organization why have they gotten nothing right in 140 years? -

In the book Combating Cult Mind Control Steve Hassan recommends not addressing a cult member's specific religion but discussing another cult that uses the same techniques. You could wait until there's something relevant in the news about a cult or church scandal and say something along the lines of "I read about that group do you know they justified this by doing that? What do you think?" and see if he starts to identify on his own the similarities between the WTO and whatever group is in the news.

Agree with Wendy.
Mind control is amazingly powerful.
Read Steven Hassan's book(s) FIRST.

Sorry I forgot to mention I do often refer to the Mormons, as I find the issues and problems they are facing are also the same as the JWs. -

It's also worth mentioning that in the first edition of Combating Mind Control Jehovah's Witnesses were not mentioned in the book at all so it was not banned by the Watchtower Society and Hassan notes (in the much more recent Kindle edition that I read) that many JWs ended up reading it and leaving because they recognized the signs. If you can find an old copy from the 80s without the references to JWs maybe pass it on to your dad to read for himself.

The Searcher
I sent an active J.W. relative the newspaper article of the Org's pending lawsuit against the chemical company who left Warwick polluted.
I also sent the photos of the lovely properties which the Org paid $57m for, at Fishkill. (as shown on the Beroean Pickets site) I "praised" the Org for providing such lovely accommodation for all the brothers who have dedicated their lives to the Org. (my sarcasm would go over their head!)
The email response I received pointedly rebuked me by asking how I came by all these negative bits of information. I was told that the Internet was a very dangerous place and that I was clearly spending too much time on it - I should just stop it. Also, Jehovah knows what's going on, and he'll deal with it. I was going to respond, but Mrs. Searcher felt that no response would have a better effect, by leaving them to ponder on what I'd sent them.
I suggested that since a picture paints a thousand words, maybe I should just send the photo above, - she said 'no'!
Let your dad either find out on his own, or just ask him very carefully worded questions.
