When a crime is commited?
by Drifting Away ini responded to someone on another thread, but would love to know this answer.. if a victim adult or child goes to elders and claims they were abused, don't they have to have clergy confidentiality?
so i was told that they encourage the victim to contact authorities , and they contact bethel, but arent there hands tied if the victim does not want to go to authorities?
an elder made the comment to me once.

... also the confidentiality is broken the minute they tell another elder or call the branch. They don't do it but the victim should always be encouraged to notify the proper authorities first. In California it is mandatory to report and has been for a long time. However the branch is always called first anyways. -

Resolutions at Kingdom Hall
by sieborg inanyhow i got to thinking today about my days in the borg and the resolutions that would intermittently be made in the announcements for co visit expenses, sending a donation to society www fund etc.
my point is that while i was in (almost thirty two years) i never once saw anyone put up their hand to vote against a resolution that the body of elders proposed.
on a couple of occasions i heard a few hushed murmurs but i never saw one person vote against.

One MS worked those evenings, and he seconded the motion.
Maybe he want it set up so he could miss meetings. -

After 50 years Zealous Service, My Elder Friends goes Inactive
by James Jack ini asked him what happened.
he said "him and his wife lived a full theocratic life for jehovah.
doing everything the organization and the traveling brothers told them to do, like work part time, regular pioneer, serve where the need is great.

I see this all the time... except they don't wake up. The local hall is full of them, depending on welfare, disability payments (for imaginary ailments) and any other hand out while spending all their time as aux piosneers etc. Their personal ministry is supported by "satan's system" lol.
@WTWizard
someone might have a few dozen rolls of silver quarters, dimes, and halves, a few tubs of rounds, a couple dozen silver bars...
not yet but working on it! -

NEW BLOOD CARD w/ FORCED COMPLIANCE also LEGALISM
by apocalypse ini have looked around and i don't see this covered, so i am starting a thread.. 1) the new "blood card" goes beyond being just a "blood card".. 2) a new edict concerning compliance.. pay attention to the changes.. first, the new card is termed "advance decision to refuse specified medical treatment".
the big change with the card itself is that it includes an 'override' of your "power of attorney".
this is huge.
-

The medical document has no power as long as you are conscious. You have to be unable to make medical decisions in order for the power of attorney to be implemented. I seen one jw tell the liaison committee to get lost and not to come back unless you hear I am unconscious. They can be a pain in the rear. There is always a large number of jws in each cong that don't get them filled out. Be one of those... there is only so much the elderdubs will do before they give up. -

"508 Million Year Old" Exceptionally Preserved Embryos Found
by Perry inactually, they we found over 100 years ago.
but because so many dinosaur bones have yielded soft tissue, blood cells, dna fragments etc.
, many have predicted (including myself) when all this really broke loose in 2005, that many more similar discoveries would be made simply by going back and cracking open old fossils and having a look inside.

Another generation....
by joey jojo init has been 21 years since the 1995 article that pretty much buried the idea of the '1914 generation'.. remember those guys?
the ones born in 1914 that would still be alive when the end of the system arrived.. i'm glad i'm old enough to remember going from door to door, preaching this belief.
the reason i say that is because i have a lot of 'still in' jw friends and family.

My mom died in 1994. I remember her thinking that she would not be dead for long because we were 80 years past 1914.
this just cracked me up... thanks for the laugh. -

Is it true: the memorial will stop after the last anointed have passed away?
by FinchAndWeston ini heard that the memorial will stop after the last anointed have passed away ... is this information true/false?
just curious.
it's secondhand.
-

The CO gave the memorial talk locally here.
He asked the question "how long will we continue to celebrate the memorial?"
He said "lets let the bible answer that for us."
He then read: For whenever you eat this loaf and drink this cup, you keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, until he comes. - 1 Cor 11:26.
He then said that after that when the 144k are all in heaven the memorial will no longer be observed.

Chitty
by StopTheTears ini've learned that many years ago, there was a man named brother chitty of some prominence in the jehovah's witnesses organization.
it fact, chitty was a member of the governing body.
chitty was asked to resign his position after serving for many years and nothing much was ever said about it to jehovahs witnesses.

@Fisherman - the bible tells why men who claimed gods backing in the past were removed or punished... Moses, David, Saul, Solomon, etc. There were many more. Not only that but it was made public at the time... most knew about it. Whether you believe the bible or not, the WTS claims to follow it so why not some transparency? Oh I know... there waiting on god to do it... silly me.

A poll of sorts: How long have you been a "fader" for?
by SecretSlaveClass ini'm curious about the following:.
1) how long have you been a fader for?.
2) how often do you still get pressure from congregation members and/or family to return as an active witness?.
-
RichardHaley
1) How long have you been a fader for?
7 years
2) How often do you still get pressure from congregation members and/or family to return as an active witness?
once or twice a year from members I run into aside from work (work with several dubs and no pressure there)
3) What is the longest period you have ever known anyone to successfully fade? A successful fade in my view, would be someone who has faded for a period of time but no longer receives any pressure to return to active service (completely left alone).
I know several over 20 years, this question should be reversed to "shortest successful fade?"
4) If you have been a fader for more than two years, do you fear you would eventually have to face DA or DF?
No... that is easily avoided
5) As faders, how many of you are being treated as if you were DF'd/DA'd?
Only being treated/avoided as a spiritually weak one.
6) Have you faded rather than DA'd due to the possible loss family or is it because you have no network of friends outside the Org?
For family only, I could care less about "jw friends"
7) If you consider yourself a fader how many meetings/assemblies/ field service groups do you still attend on average per month?
0.5
8) As a fader do you feel that the Org is completely powerless over your life?
They still have some power because if I speak my mind to family then I would lose them.

Question: refuse, or limit to collaborate with elder inquiry?
by prologos inshould a teen, a child of a believing mother, cooperate in the fact-gathering of the elders into the waywardness (not sex related, hopefully) of some local teenagers?
what scenarios can you see playing out?
all teens to clam up?

I wouldn't trust any of the Elders to take care of my goldfish
