Striking Out On My Own
by Saethydd inthose of you who know my story are aware that i'm currently disfellowshipped and living with my parents.
up until now, my plan has been to be reinstated and then fade, but recently my plans have changed.
in a conversation with my mother a few days ago and she made it clear that she would not be okay with me getting reinstated with the purpose of going inactive.

Another "good" elder might be getting the axe....
by humblepotato inso our congregation is full of hardliner elders, 3 of them, who are not gentle, kind or loving.. people have either moved away or quit trying because one elder inparticular was going to drive them crazy with all his rules and nit picking and being righteous over much.
(and he is pissed that he hasn't been accepted to the school.
hmmm, i wonder why!).

I never understood this. JWs believe Satin is one of Jehovah's children and he never removed himself when Satin rebelled.
Oh well... guess that is part of why I don't want to be part of the Borg anymore.

Successes you enjoyed since leaving the Org
by Tallon inthought i would start a discussion, and hopefully a positive one, on what successes you’ve enjoyed since leaving the org.. each of us is different as people, in life experiences etc.
however we all share one common factor in that we have all experienced the negativity, to a greater or lesser degree, of being a jw and the org.. each success is worth celebrating so i invite you to share some of your achievements.
it does not matter how ‘big or small’ it is, share it with us.. my achievement means a great deal to me both personally and professionally.

Life is better than I would have ever thought. After over 45 years as a JW , being out is wonderful. New friends, no judgement, involved in helping others and truly happy.
So glad I didn't jump off a bridge during the couple of years it took to clear my mind.
I would like to tell any of you who are feeling down and all along after leaving..... It will pass, look ahead.....It is worth it!

What is the biggest hypocrisy you have seen as a witness?
by HereIgo ini have far too many to name, but ill start with obscene music, gambling and cussing like a sailor.
all the while preaching to "worldly people" about their impending death at armageddon.
thoughts?.

Me.
While directing DC Dramas, being MS Overseer, sitting on judicial committees I was having affairs.
When I was found out I thought my life was over.
Now I am no longer having an affair, no need to lie about anything and no longer believe in the JW bull.
Life has turned out great.

To all former Elders – what are your thoughts
by Tallon inif you were part of a judicial committee, and knowing what you know now, what was it like for you to sit on jc’s?
how did you feel if someone was reproved or df’d?
were you ever on a jc and you disagreed with someone being reproved or df’d and were overruled – how did you feel?

Yes. One time while serving on an appeal committee we discovered that the original committee DFed the husband based on what 2 sisters said they heard him say while on the stand in court.
The Brother tried to dispute what they were saying by asking the committee to read the court transcript. They refused and DFed him.
I must say... this guy was an ass. However, in this case he was right. We as a CO appointed appeal committee,
explained that the court record showed that the 2 sisters were wrong in what they recalled.
We overturned the decision and the Elders from the original committee were pissed.
Other times I have seen politics as well as family favors in committee meetings .
As Warren Zevon sang...and should be a Kingdom Song.. "MY shits fucked up"

Did you participate in a Drama?
by Hecce ini am bringing this up because even it was a lot of work, for the majority of the friends this was a rewarding experience.
camaraderie, joking, costumes, props and when the time came the celebrity status of being in the drama.. back in the 50s and 60s, conventions could be as long as 8 days and from about 1966 the dramas became an integral part of the program.
we had one per day and the brothers looked forward to their presentation.

Yes, I directed 4 dramas. They were very time consuming however I did enjoy the experience.
Thinking back though I will say it was more about my ego than anything else, as are many of the parts on a DC level.
Very happy to be done with all that.

Should I stay or should I go?
by olongapo joe inhello all, i love reading all of your experiences, and trials and tribulations ( isn't that very jw'ish)?
while most of my life experiences have almost nothing to do with jw's, as i was never baptized and never believed( in the bible) past the 5th grade, it makes me feel good to contribute a post or two here, i tend to go off on subjects that are probably not very jermaine to the main subject of this site.
i do really enjoy all of your comments and the time and effort simon and the other moderators spend to make this a truly inspiring site.

Midweek meeting
by loneranger inalmost two months into the change in format of the mid week meeting from the school and service meeting format to the christian life and ministry (clam) format.
in my congregation, seems attendance is down 10-15% over the normally low attendance for the mid week meeting before the change.
some indicate that the meeting under the clam format is very "intense"...you really need to study and research to be able to participate or get anything out of the meetings.

Can't say. Would rather snake a drain than go back to the KH. But hey.... enjoy!
