Ex Elder Friend Tells Me There Are Now Only 45 Persons That Attend
by minimus inwhen i left a couple of years ago, the average meeting attendance on a sunday was about 70. a couple of years before that it was about 90. now only 45 people attend the meetings.
he said the bookstudies average 9 per week at the kingdom hall (which used to be the biggest one)!!!
it's got to be extremely discouraging to see no one is left.

When I left getting on for 5 years ago. The average attendance for a Sunday Public Talk and Watchtower was 120-130. Thursday Service meetings was about 100. Average publishers 80-85
Recently heard from family who still attend. That the average for a Sunday is now 90-100.for Service meetings its 80-90. Average publishers 70-75.
Also two congregations share the same Kingdom Hall. Because approx 20 years ago the then one congregation was really growing. So it was decided we needed new place. We built a Kingdom Hall that could hold up to 300. Ready for the big increase. The congregation was split into two. So we had potential for two congregations of 300 each.
In the last 10 years especially since 1995, numbers have fallen. As shown above. At one time there was talk that the two congregations should again become one. I believe the CO put an end to that idea.
Those that have left have included, 4 Elders, 3 Min. Servants, plus others who had been JW's as long as I had been, 20-30 years.
Many children of JW families are just not following the Watchtower line, and refusing to be become JW's. The young generation of today has the tendancy to question. They are taught in schools to question no longer to just accept what they are taught. This is then carried over into their JW family life. They have access to computers and the internet, at home, school and many local places. They also come up against fellow students who will challenge them on what they believe. So now the doubts about the WT begin at an early age.
The WT organisation still is a strong force. But bit by bit its influence is waning. We hear of brothers asking questions they would never have dared years ago. Questions which can no longer be fobbed off with the "wait on Jehovah to answer it".
Time is the greatest enemy the Watchtower has. Soon it will be 2014, a hundred years, since Christ according to them set up His kingdom invisibly. How many JW's will there be at that time?

Jesus had a Twin Proof!!!
by skyman injudas thomas is known to the world as jesus brother.
most all bible scholars have no problem with this, what is of interest to me is a matter of controversy the translation of didymos used before his name in the greek manuscripts didymos literally translates into english as twin.
if you take the bible as the true gospel of gods hand then jesus had a twin brother.

New Testament links by Florian Cramer: The Gospel of Thomas is a collection of traditional sayings (logoi) of Jesus. It is attributed to Didymos Judas Thomas, the "Doubting Thomas" of the canonical Gospels, and according to many early traditions, the twin brother of Jesus (didymos means "twin" in Greek).
Seems funny that a "twin" would be the one who doubted that his brother would be alive. Yet everyone else didn't.
Aren't twins supposed to have some empathy with each other.
Maybe Mary had triplets? After all she got three gifts: Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh.

NEED HELP WITH INFO ON THE CROSS VS. TORTURE STAKE
by Mary ini was at some friends' house last night (ex dubs) and another friend, dan (another ex-dub) was there.
we got on the subject of the cross and surprisingly, dan still believes that jesus died on a "torture stake" instead of a cross.
i was surprised and told him that there is ample historical evidence that shows the romans used crosses for cruxifiction as it had been around long before jesus' time.

Well going back to the late 1970's when I got married. There was 5 other couples who got married in same year. Ages ranged from 18 to 35.
Over the years I learnt that they had all had sex before marriage, when they became engaged. Mainly because of the JW view that as in ancient Israel, once you where engaged, you were as good as married.
About 10 years ago we had weddings in KH. . Mind you two of the brides where already pregnant.
I remember an Elder saying to me a couple of year later about the two who had been pregnant. He said they were the unlucky ones, the others were just more careful. He said, we knew they were all having sex, we would have just jumped on them if the broke the engagement.
Incidently yes my wife and I did also. In fact she was the instigator. We were able to use her home, as her mother worked during day. Often we would go from field service to the bedroom.

Just listening to the radio and they said that the Jewish festival "Hannukah" starts today. Would JW's call it pagan because its celebrated on on 25th Dec. Is this not a reason for celebrating birth of Christ today. After all Jesus celebrated a festival around that time, called the " Feast of Dedication" (John 10:22) .
The annual feast celebrated eight days beginning in the 25th of Chislev (middle of our December), instituted by Judas Maccabaeus [164 BC] in memory of the cleansing of the temple from the pollution of Antiochus Epiphanes
Interestingly it wasn't a festival instituted by God, but by men. Yet it seems Jesus may have celebrated it.
The celebrating of it was not confined to Jerusalem, as that of the divine feasts was, but every one observed it in his own place, not as a holy time (it is only a divine institution that can sanctify a day), but as a good time.

Especially to those who haven't had a visit for years.
Is something going on?

WTS vs Quotes: Requiem for a Research Web Site
by Quotes inin compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".
the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).
my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.
