Missing Meetings is OK??

talking with a friend, yesterday.. he said asked if the jws attitude had changed on attending meetings.. it seems that while browsing the internet on his phone.. he came across a website that said, "that missing meetings was not wrong , as jehovah knows whats in your heart.".

he couldn't remember the websites title, just that it had "watchtower" in the address.. has anyone else come across this?.

i find it odd that the watchtower would say such a thing, considering the way they are are the moment.. seemingly more strict on meeting attendance.. .

according to the latest statistics published by the ncc in its yearbook of american and canadian churches, the jehovah's witnesess had the highest growth rate, in 2010 growing 4.37%.

this is, i believe, is the 4th year in a row, that the witnesses had the highest growth rate.

roman catholics grew by less than 1%, as did most of the other churches listed.

In Britain it has been a 1% increase

2,611 baptised , but overall increase on 2009 was 795

They are missing 1,816 - where are they?

In your hall, how many converted to a JW from door to door in the last 10 years?

in mine that would be a big fat zero.. there have been a handful of teenage baptisms of jw children.. one that really was a foreign language group transfer.. but in the last ten years - there has not been one single convert from the d2d ministry.. btw - my congregation has had over 10 pioneers (real ones that actually do d2d, including elders) for the last decade.. not one.

10 x 70 hours a month x 120 months = 84,000 hours ... results = 0.. also most of our pioneers are pretty good at the door - some half way decent teachers.

one is sub co and another often is called to teach ... wait for it ... pioneer school!!!.

Never mind the last 10 years , in the 30 years I was a JW , I could probably count on one hand the number who became JWs,
in my congregation, after being called on in the field ministry.

All I ever saw where the children, husbands, wives, relatives of JWs being baptised.

WTBTS Elder & Ministerial Servant Problems

i attended a recent ministerial servant k m school on the east coast and the main school instructor mentioned among other things (part entitled: 'objective of the km school course') that the total number of ministerial servants is seriously less than it should be.

in times past the ratio of m ss to elders was much more than it is today.. in the u.s. apparently the total number of elders is 88,500+ as opposed to m ss 65,000. the numbers show & numbers don't lie: the society is running out of spiritual men.

the instructor stated that this is a new downward trend that has (in so many words) the society worried.. the next speaker (part entitled: 'why we must be spiritual men') added that in his years as a traveling servant the pool of m ss has always been much, much larger than it is today.

Putting the view from this area of Britain.

In my old congregation there were eight Elders when I left 9 years ago.
and six Min Servants.
Today there are five Elders and four MS.

The lower number of Elders has been due to Elders resigning.
A couple over the "two witness" policy on child abuse and cover-ups.
One because his son was disfellowshipped for smoking, but another Elders son was not.
Then in odd twist the Elder, whose son wasn't DF'd, he himself a couple months later resigned because he was caught smoking.
He recently I heard got into a fight with other Elders when they visited him on another matter.
I recall him as being a self-righteous bully.

From what I have heard , no other brother in the congregation wants to be either a MS or an Elder.
As one brother said "Who wants that job, if something goes wrong, you get blamed,
when you were only carrying out Watchtower instructions."

Why Is There NOTHING Written In The Bible About Jesus' Early Years?

why doesn't the nt have anything about jesus on record prior to his baptism?

after all, he was a perfect boy.

you would think that little jesus would've been talked about by everyone in the town,.

Maybe by the time the Gospels came to be written, those who knew him on his early years were all dead.

Besides would it make any difference to anyones views if we did know?

What makes you think only atheists are the only ones angry?

Plenty of us Christians are as well.

The trouble is that the UN assembly is dominated by countries,
who still hold certain religious views on homosexuality.

While the attention is focused on the Popes visit and protests about Catholic priests child abuse.

The JWs quietly in the background get away with it.

Blackness. If the JW religion is a majority black religion, is this a majority black board?

In the congregation I was in, for 30 years, here in the UK, never in that time had any black JWs, or any other ethnic group.

Our sister congregation that shared our hall , had one black family, and that was only because they had moved up from London.

This even though there were many black families living in the area.

In Liverpool about 2-3 miles away, some congregation could be 20-25% coloured.

Also thinking about asemblies and conventions for our district, they were majority white.

Even though the district covered areas with large populations of coloured people.

Yet the church I now attend in the same area, we have many Nigerians, Ghanaians, Filipino, Chinese, Indians.

Probably nearly a third of the congregation.
