They're charging $10.00 per head at all assemblies now. I've watched as the number of publishers was entered into the software and the "bill" came up as exactly 10X more, with a $ in front of the number. -

Contempt of court, case in San Diego county really disgusts me!
by Crazyguy inthis case has to be talked about by ever awake jw every apostate everyone.
this case because they refuse to hand over documents the court already knows they have because they handed them over before but heavily redacted, is the icing on the cake!
this case shows thier evil plain and simple.

They created the database so that when a body of elders wasn't sure about appointing a "former child molester" the service department could check and see if he met the magical 20-years-and-no-public-outcry-requirement. Because as we know, the "branch office, not the body of elders determines whether someone is a 'known' child molester."

Dunkin Donut style KH
by GreenhornChristian inhas anyone seen one of the new design kh's and taken pics?
i'm curious to see.

Somebody put a video on FB of one. It's bizarre. I have no doubt that they're being built this way now to be sold later. Having realized that the old KH's are impossible to unload (really, who would buy one?) they figure if the Wild Beast starts stirring they'll liquidate these generic commercial boxes easily.

Jwfacts.com has an excellent write up of the whole issue. It could be used as an "outline" when trying to wake up others. Even more than the UN letters, I think the semi-positive coverage in the WT and especially Awake! from the 1990s - early 2000s is pretty damning. There it is, proof that WT was complying or attempting to comply with their member requirements. -

Jehovah Witness vs Jehovah's Witness
by Simon inbeing brought up as a jehovah's witness means you are so used to the term that you rarely stop to think about it.. one thing i've noticed is that people unfamiliar with the religion will say "jehovah witness" (no 's) instead which i always found a bit grating.. but watching the us election, something struck me.
people are often referred to as "trump supporters", not "trump's supporters" and so on.
thinking about other things, people would say they were "united fan's", not "united's fans" and so on.. it seems weird that a group would refer to themselves as though it was someone else talking about them (in the 3rd person, if i have that right).. what do you think?
-
Naoscillator
Most outsiders say "Jehovah Witnesses". A few say things like, "he / she's a Jehovah's Witness." Nobody but Jehovah's Witnesses say "one of Jehovah's Witnesses." That's just one reason why it's hilarious that the new entry under "Frequently Asked Questions" on the official site is "How do I become one of Jehovah's Witnesses?" -

The "apostacy stigmatisation" of doing research!
by stuckinarut2 ina thought occurred that the way the society has stigmatised the doing of external research by witnesses, and labelling any such questioning as "apostate", is tragic.. no doubt, in every other aspect of life, we research things before making decisions.
eg, if making a purchase, we go online and check reviews etc to check the product out.
we don't just trust the words of the marketing department.

I know JW's who will do more research to try and justify ignoring doctor's orders than to verify if God really wants them to shun their family. -

Awake #4/2016: Homosexuality
by Designer Stubble inthe new awake is up on jw.orgwith the legalization of gay marriage in many countries, they decided it was time to show: "what does thebible say about homosexuality?
"does the bible promote prejudice?still, some people would say that the bible promotes prejudice against homosexuals and that those who adhere to itsmoral code are intolerant.
‘the bible was written at a time when people were narrow-minded,’ they claim.

The WT society is indeed homophobic.
Keep in mind, the public area of JW dot org is exactly that, for the public. Compare this article, which seemingly condemns only the specific sexual "sin" of practiced homosexuality, with TOMO's rants, and the recent meeting the CO's had with elders in which "effeminate" mannerisms and the "metrosexual" look were stressed. Also, the rejection of the idea that one can be a non-practicing gay (NPG) because of what the scripture says, "that is what some of you were." In other words, you "were" gay but you're not anymore and now Jehovah can accept you.
This completely contradicts the use of the SAME SCRIPTURE in the new article but it's how the organization's enforcers are being trained. Apparently the GB is horrified that the stylish young men in fitted suits (who may even identify as NPG) are quickly becoming the modern face of the organization.
