What a post, Muddy Waters. Being still in, an MS and knowing TTATT i can only hope my efforts to wake up my wife result in her one day being able to look back and say what you said. Right now I can strongly attest to control she has with the full force of the org. behind her. As soon as I make some progress with her with a little nugget of TTATT, someone in a headship-circumventing way encourages her about US pursuing some Spiritual Goal and it's all undone. Then she's all gung-ho about that new spiritual milestone. And wonders why I am not. Anyway, thank you. Your perspective and the 180 degree shift you've experienced gives me hope.

Before knowing TTATT did you really believe in things as...
by roberto avon indid you really believe in things as ;- the earth is only 6000 years old- the 144.000- 1914, based upon the destructiono of jerusalem- harmagheddon or the end of the world coming soon???
?i married a jw when i was an interested person and studying with the jw's ( not the way they wanted) but i told my wife before marrying her that " most probably " i would never have been a jw.she accepted me as i was and married me.
after that i had interrupted the study for one year, i started all over again with an elder of my wife's cong.

1914, yes. Because, you know, World War I. Then, when I could grasp it, the "seven times". Wow! So accurate!
Also, the literal interpretation of the flood. Because, you know, flowers under the permafrost and the mammoth with food still in his mouth. Not that these are necessarily WT explanations, I'd have to look it up. This is how it was explained to me when I was very young and I accepted these "facts" without question, until the day many years later when I knew too much to still believe it. Ironically, what changed my mind on it for good was when a very young MS gave a public talk about the flood and kept insisting that "the flood was real". Although he had some interesting "proofs" I hadn't heard before, by the end of it I realized there was no way it could have actually happened. The poor guy would be mortified to know he had had that effect on one of his listeners.

No such thing as history
by woodforde inwhy do you think it is that wts limit accessibility to watchtowers and awakes to only issues since year 2000 on jworg?
a whiff of something slightly orwellian?
not a case of re-writing history but nixing it altogether?

Why are JW talks & publications never uplifting?
by thedepressedsoul ini was sitting at the meeting the other night and for the first time it hit, jw talks or magazines are never uplifting!
i rarely, if ever hear a talk or read a magazines and have it give nothing but praise to jehovahs servants or just praise jehovah and jesus throughout it.
they never just a read through the bible or just a bible story explained or told.

The org. is proud of having shifted from more challenging, "deep" material to articles that are focused solely on behavior modification. They seem to start with the application and work backwards to find scriptural support, and even if none is found, the Bible is bent, twisted, and shaped any way the GB sees fit to get the desired result. It seems like an article or talk of pure commendation or even reflection on the good things in life is frowned upon as mere "ear tickling". You tell people they are good and clean already, and they won't get up and do more! -

WT's subtle attack on Wikipedia!
by Wonderment indid anyone notice this wt's subtle attack on wikipedia?
they wrote (from the 2011 yearbook of jehovah's witnesses, pp.
9-10. source: 'tracing all things with accuracy'):.

Their feelings about Wikipedia are understandable. Months before this yearbook was published, I read the Wiki entry on Jehovah's Witnesses. From the first sentence on, my perspective began to be altered as I adopted an outsider's viewpoint. Just the naked facts in the absence of standard WT spin made me start questioning if we weren't just another sect. -

Funny how evolution is such a dirty word.
A decade ago I heard a CO saying nearly everything Morris said, down to the anecdote about the young man, (a MS in the CO's version) coming back from university believing in evolution and with serious doubts about "the truth". Even then as a full-on loyalist I wondered how this seems to happen so easily to so many. An absurd idea like evolution couldn't put a scratch in our iron-clad truth! Then I realized I everything I "knew" about evolution was from, you guessed it, the Creation book. It was years before I dared look further into what the WT calls "a religious doctrine couched in scientific language."
Yeah, they won't tell you not to send your children to what essentially is Satan's Little Shop of Spiritually Perilous Ideas. That's your own personal decision if you sacrifice your child to Satan's world, the GB dignified you with making that (wrong) choice for yourself!

I was in an elders and servants meeting with the CO a couple of years back when the CO laid this out as a requirement but didn't stipulate any consequences for not following it.

DD, I only got my spouse to see that the elders in San Diego were at fault. I know, though, that nobody could have told me that WT org. was responsible before I could see it for myself. With 20 more cases in Zalkin's cannon, the last pockets of resistance in many people's minds will be sure to fall. Slowly but surely.

Amazing how segregated and mutually exclusive these departments and legal entities of Jah's United Organization become whenever it's convenient, eh?
You could quote Losch's declaration verbatim to any JW, and they would dismiss it as an "apostate lie" since it's so far outside of how everyone in the organization perceives the role of the GB. Or worse, excuse his obfuscation as protecting Kingdom Interests like he's supposed to do til the bitter end.
