Seven Trumpets of Revelation

i read on here that the society teaches that the seven trumpets of revelation are representative of seven conventions held in america in the 1920. is this actually true?

is it old light?

i asked some witnesses but they all gave me a look like i was weird and said it couldn't be right, and i can't check the watchtower library as i can't get it on my computer (apparently the society doesn't think mac users are worthy of the 'good news') i mean... it would be a bit...odd, wouldn't it?

Years ago a district overseer told my pioneer class "If you look at the reference to a scripture in the WT index and only find one, even if it's very old, it represents the current thinking. For example, there are scriptures in Ezekiel that haven't been commented on since the 1930's. If nothing has been published since then, the content of that reference IS our current understanding."

That was a small eye-opener. I've shared it with many a JW when they are quick to dismiss something published long ago as old light.

No doubt this future judgment was on his mind as he desperately tried to trip up our brother and turn honesthearted observers away from true worship with his serpentlike questioning.

the february broadcast has an item which in my view exploits a young very poorly girl.

it seems that the girl is quite a character and her faith seems to be strong.

she was baptised as a pre-pubescent innocent girl and is purported to be a regular pioneer at age 13. now read what her local paper says :-.

What a wasted opportunity. They could have used their global network to rally the brotherhood around this family in need but instead it's nothing but a huge guilt trip to do more.

any JW construction going on other than Warwick?

is anybody aware of any kingdom hall builds going on or any kind of ldc activity?

i've been wanting to ask this, and committeechairman's question at the end of this thread, http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/289353/ldc-semininar?page=4&size=20, moved me to go ahead and ask.. i've kind of wondered whether the org leaders got rid of rbcs and instituted the ldc arrangement because they wanted to be able to stop or slow down construction without it being obvious.

if the rbcs were still in existence, it would be obvious that there's nothing (or almost nothing) going on (if that really is the way it is) because rbc personnel would be idle when they were used to being busy.

I am near a very large metropolitan area and I only know of one new design LDC hall that's been completed.

Also, the cutbacks are actually a lot more conspicuous now that RBC is out and LDC is in. Why? Because, as hyped by the WTBTS just a year ago, many of the duties formerly carried out by RBC volunteers in their spare time are supposed to now be taken care of by full time LDC people. But.... Many of those are being laid off just as quickly as they were recruited. I know personally multiple LDC couples. One moved across the country and has since been sent home. Another is in limbo, doing paperwork at an assembly hall while they wait to find out if they will even be needed long term.

And believe this, as has been stated by others, JWs are talking. Not all JWs of course. Just the smart and honest ones. Going so far as to question the judgment of the GB hyping up all the construction only to throw the machine into reverse.

It's just another case of WT writers feeling so bound to their established WT-speak "style" that what should be a straightforward bit of counsel turns into a confusing and ultimately meaningless verbal double-knot.
