  I know several 'graduates'. It's all standard stuff except for a few inventions too crazy even for the 'imitate their faith' book. Made up stories about the apostle Paul meditating for three years in the arabian desert then laying low for another 9 before "receiving his first assignment from the governing body". Another one about Paul failing to have success with his synagogue preaching, only to have Apollos show up later and convert everybody in the synagogue! I asked the star graduates what chapter of Acts I could find the account in. "I'll get back to you...."

  none of you are old enough to have been there, i suspect.

  i had been in prison two years as a jw conscientious objector when the exciting news about 1975 spread like wildfire.i was paroled from prison in 1969 and immediately began pioneering.

  i came across this blog - it is one of the evilest things i've ever read.. http://dismythed.blogspot.com/2016/02/flip-side-news-opposers-want-ex.html.

  you might not want to click on it because a) you'll give it more traffic and b) it will make you mad.

  in summary it states that since only 11-17% of molesters are repeat offenders, witnesses guilty of abuse should be dealt with inside the congregation as long as they confess.

  What TV shows were forbidden in your JW household?

  in the u.s., three's company was not allowed.

  it was explained to me that it was an immoral show because a man and women lived together and no one was married.

  the sister who gave this observation was a family friend and we were newbies to the religion.. at least i somehow managed to watch the benny hill show undetected..

  Seven Trumpets of Revelation

  i read on here that the society teaches that the seven trumpets of revelation are representative of seven conventions held in america in the 1920. is this actually true?

  is it old light?

  i asked some witnesses but they all gave me a look like i was weird and said it couldn't be right, and i can't check the watchtower library as i can't get it on my computer (apparently the society doesn't think mac users are worthy of the 'good news') i mean... it would be a bit...odd, wouldn't it?

  I would love to see them too.

  Years ago a district overseer told my pioneer class "If you look at the reference to a scripture in the WT index and only find one, even if it's very old, it represents the current thinking. For example, there are scriptures in Ezekiel that haven't been commented on since the 1930's. If nothing has been published since then, the content of that reference IS our current understanding."

  That was a small eye-opener. I've shared it with many a JW when they are quick to dismiss something published long ago as old light.

  Let's do this in the style of the "Imitate Their Faith" book.

  The worldly-wise lawyer looked at his papers. Picture him pridefully studying his exhibits, correspondence and memoranda, without bothering to look up as Brother Jackson boldly made his defense. Brother Jackson, his eyes ever observant, changed course on a dime just like Jehovah's celestial chariot. Giving the lawyer the benefit of the doubt, the wise brother asked, "Excuse me Mr. Stewart, can you hear me?"

  "Yes, I can hear you Mr. Jackson." How quickly that cunning barrister replied! What bitterness in his heart, only giving a bare minimum of his attention to the future associate king who would soon have a share in shattering worldly nations with an iron rod! No doubt this future judgment was on his mind as he desperately tried to trip up our brother and turn honesthearted observers away from true worship with his serpentlike questioning.
