Yes. Sad, difficult at times, but wouldn't change my decision. -

Deceiving statements in The Watchtower (Study Edition) September 2015

neither a branch office nor the local congregation elders are authorized to make health-care decisions for a witness, even if he asks what to do.

DATA-DOG's nailed it for me. Beyond the hypocrisy, beyond the sudden urge to seek greater control with the blood issue, there is the legal issue of being held responsible for enforcing their bizarre views on blood transfusions. Helps with getting recognised as a religion in some countries, helps avoid law suits in others. -

What is true love?
by hoser ini just watched the video what is true love.
first of all it is painfully long.
secondly there is an uncanny resemblance with megan(the one who married out of the truth) to the girl in the jeremiah book who married out of the truth.

Yeah, we are only 4% of the population, so we are usually the odd one in any group, but other groups don't make you feel like there there is no hope for you as much as the JWs, lol.
Did you know the person who developed the Myers-Briggs was also an INFP? Although we might not fit in everywhere, we have our own unique perspective to bring to the world, just not the JW world.
Very true. I had a lot of problems trying to fit in there, vanished into my own little space in the end as a result of a few things. But gradually woke up to the idea that being me wasn't the problem - it was trying to contort myself into what they held out as the 'ideal' which was. And their ideal marriage - eek!! Know it works for some, but not for me, oh no. Escaped as a late teen, so not so bad in the end.
Personally, I take as self-reported broad description of some traits, although the INFP thing for me fits far too close for comfort at times. Does help explain some things about how I tick, and why I struggled with a few things looking back. :D

607 B.C. controversy
by FusionTheism ini'm not sure the whole 607 b.c.e.
controversy is really that major of a deal.. even if the society admits it and changes it, that's only a difference of 20-21 years, so the governing body could just shift 1914 to 1934-1935 and say that world war ii and hitler was the beginning of the signs.. a much bigger issue is why they even say daniel's tree prophecy has an antitypical fulfillment, especially after their new light on types and antitypes..

I don't think they even need to drop 1914. They've redefined the word 'generation' in a way which allows them to run with it for as long as they care to. They've gone from the generation which will never die to the generation which will never end.
Would large numbers currently inside notice to call BS on it? From listening to some inside talk, it's increasingly clear to me that many haven't really a clue on what they're meant to believe about some things. Just avoid looking anywhere but jw.org, parrot back the WT paragraphs on a Sunday and devolve thinking to the 7 old toads in Brooklyn.

I'm another INFP who really, really didn't fit in. The idea of a JW wedding filled me with horror as a teen. Reading life is too short's post, yeah, glad I passed on that.

Hi Blackwolf, forum's eaten my post it seems. So short version instead - keep going with help for depression and anorexia, don't give up on your dreams, it sucks being awake but trapped inside the JW thing (did it myself) but you've only a relatively short time before society counts you as an adult too. Good luck.

And you will live happily ever after
by John Aquila inone thing i have to admit is that the wts are experts at inducing guilt, fear and creating fantasies.
if youve seen their latest video for single sisters, it will scare the shi** of any single jw sister even thinking of marrying someone who is not baptized.
video recap;.

This is also a stick for the single, straight men still inside. Jump through the hoops to become an MS, or the fact that women outnumber you 2 to 1 isn't going to mean you get married. No surprises they're ramping up the manipulation and control aspects again.

Witnesses called for a bible study
by umbertoecho inhello all.. i haven't been here for some time to post as mainly i read the comments and such.
yesterday was a really interesting, unnerving experience though.
two sisters had called last week when i had an abscess on my tooth and was sort of sick from it.

Having to read and discuss the Bible in context will make them very uncomfortable. Their whole approach is to cherry pick a line or verse and then torture it into some relevance. But as you grew up inside too, you know this already. Thing with discussing doctrine with them is that true believers will just block out anything you tell them or show them. It's kind of interesting to watch them doing it as they shift from prepared talking point to prepared talking point.
As Heaven says, you'll get the elder come and if you're still not going to play by their rules then they'll likely not come again. If you're not going to accept the WT as the source of all wisdom, then you'll never be a good drone for the Borg. ;)

Did judge Rutherford piss off Hitler
by greenhornet inthe jws at the time in germany where considered part of the aryan race, (since they were not jews).
then things changed for the jws after rutherford mailed a letter to hitler bragging about jehovahs kingdom on earth.. so can we add this to the bloodshed that that the watchtower corp is responsible for?.

Richard Evans in The Third Reich in Power places the initial problem with JW beliefs re.politics and the fact that they were taking instructions from the USA. Problems with the Nazi state began from 1933 and gradually ramped up. However, things really got out of hand after the 1936 international convention at Lucerne and the leaflet campaign which followed in Germany. -

Paradise is going to suck!
by WasOnceBlind inonce you really start thinking about it, the whole paradise idea is kind of depressing.
i remember growing up as kids my sister was the first to tell my parents (admittedly very courageously) that she wasn't sure she wanted to live in paradise, it sounded boring living forever.
i thought she was dumb for thinking that, i mean playing with lions!!!!

Totalitarianism is not only hell, but all the dream of paradise-- the age-old dream of a world where everybody would live in harmony, united by a single common will and faith, without secrets from one another. - Kundera
JWs made it up as they went along when I was in. Holy Spirit substituted for science when required to create a mental image which worked for the individual. But really, if one takes what they are proposing, it's a theocratic, totalitarian state with everyone reduced to the status of drone, where thought crime becomes reality and punishable by death without appeal, and where one faces an eternity of performing on command to the whims of a malevolent psychopathic god without the prospect of parole or appeal and where death via disobedience will be the only escape. How fun.
