Spinks ending with emphasising that they're fruitloops but unable to see what an easy way out the commission is offering them on some fundamental issues. The commission seems to be offering them a way just to report to the police, to accept different forms of evidence (which would only be available in proper legal process itself) and so they get their scriptural kicks and children are better protected because to get those extra witnesses elders would need to go to the police. But, no. "We go to prison because the gibbering idiots in Brooklyn decide something, until they decide otherwise".
@ScenicViewer - pretty clear too that the commission is aware that their standards are hardly unchanging.

McClellan cutting through the bs again. Service desk guy tries to sidestep direct question, waffles that no-one has ever been forced to attend a JC, judge not having it. Wants the issue of whole judicial committee process addressing.

Jackson from GB hasn't been summonsed due to reasons why he is in Australia. Stewart openly inviting GB to turn up. GB has handwaved responsibility for everything..!
McClellan expressing concerns over JW internal processes and saying he doesn't have access to a witness to explain how church will stop increasing trauma of those abused.

Think he meant those touting the homeopathy stuff by the Jdubs in healthcare. Can't fathom that one otherwise. It's not like many countries require professional qualifications usually preceded by higher education...

Good point, The elders are all looking to the Service Desk as the answer, and the Service Desk is actually just giving them generic responses. Which may actually open them all to criminal sanctions as McClellan pointed out a few minutes ago. It's a very thin reed the local congregation elders are leaning on.

Baker misses opertunity re no part of this world

why did disfellowshipped ex elder baker not explain why the elders have not informed themselves about the royal commission ?

mr stewart gave him the opertunity to explain the "no part of this world" doctrine, he merely expressed surprise that they had not informed themselves as if it were a personal foible of those particular elders.

it would have been a great opertunity to express disgust at the distain and uncaring attitude the society exhibits toward its worldly neighbours, i also believe him to be out of date re superior authority doctrine ..giving creedence to the lie the jw's are good and productive members of society.

Because, as he said himself, "I'm indoctrinated with my beliefs". Hope one day he can question them a little more. It will be a real shock for him, born-in, rode out 75, did Bethel, df'd in the early 90s whilst PO. And just buried it ever since. I can relate to aspects of that. But what he did do is put a human face onto things, and he showed up the elders inside who evade questions by doing his darndest to be informed about the commission, by reviewing his evidence and memory, and disclosing without trying to conceal. And expressing regret he hadn't chased up his concerns about the daughters of the abuser.
There was a basic humanity to Mr.Baker which was lacking in those still in, those still checking their conscience to one side because the WBTS tells them too. The very act of reaching out to the survivor spoke volumes against men who wouldn't even read her statement if counsel doesn't force them to. And those men are not strangers like Monty Baker, but people who've known her since childhood.

McClellan, "One of the conclusions available [about secrecy over pedophile cases] is that the hierarchy of the church would be embarassed if allegations of this type had got out."
Monty explains that public image is important to JWs, attracts people into religion, and it would be damaging to come out. Expresses doubt about numbers cited by commission.
McClellan explains those are church's own files.
Just personal thing, but think this poor man still is partly in the JW way of thinking even after 20+ years out. Lot of empathy for that. Was only over past year I've woken up after 20 years out too. Things which shouldn't be were still 'normal'. But he's still a human voice after those drone elders.
