What was CBGB, and how would you know?
According to Br. Couch, what 2 activities would make roommates turn gay?

CBGB was a rock club were you could get shitfaced and see/hear live music. See also: The Bowery Ballroom, The Knitting Room, Terminal 5 and Webster Hall (beats the KH any day). You would occasionally run into other Bethelites at these places, so smoke your joint in the Bathroom. Drink as much as you want, the others sure did!

2 activities? Back-rubs and Underwear-wrestling. Those "turn you gay", but only Bethel can assign you to be a Homo! (Home Overseer)

Trash and Garbage? No clue. The only things we ever put in the hopper were empty bottles!

here is a fairly detailed article on the history of the movement in mexico.

it's in spanish, but i passed it thru google translate and it does a pretty good job at translating the document.

it's an article from one of the most prestigious universities in mexico.. being in a predominantly hispanic circuit, we have several brother and sisters from mexico who were witnesses under the conditions that existed back then.

WT Society Makes Light of Child Abuse Crimes by Portraying them as Cartoons

i commented on this on another thread- but i believe this has enough importance to create a thread about this situation in and of itself.

at the current district convention as you know the wt society released a " sophie & caleb " video allegedly warning parents about the dangers of child abuse.

they don't really use the words " child abuse " in the video - but just say if " someone tries to touch you in a manner you aren't comfortable with " and portray it as a cartoon !

was talking to an ex-bethelite who is still very well-connected to those in the ivory tower.. he says that there will soon be a(nother) large number of us bethelites who will be "reassigned to the field" as pioneers and special pioneers.. he did not give his source, but he is pretty reliable.

incidentally, he was "reassigned to the field" in the last big purge about 7 years ago.. i imagine those so reassigned would be pretty teed off.

let go just before the golden lakeshore palace was completed..

That was my life after high school. I wasted my early-to-mid twenties at Bethel, got kicked to the curb "sent to the field" (proved to be a blessing). Broke with no school, a crappy car and a drinking habit, I landed on my parents door steps. Back to pioneering, but this time jaded and suspecting there was something rotten in Denmark. In entrants school they had asked us to "make Bethel your life long career" and said "you are part of the family"!

They better hope they don't piss off the wrong people. They may have to deal with an "Edward Snowden" or "Bradley Manning" of their own!
