How about these two Scots/Geordie words: hyem and bairn.
Hyem (home) always reminds me of the Dano-norwegian word 'hjem'.
Bairn is similar to the Swedish word 'barn' and means the same.
bad spelling can be refreshing and humorous.. so how about an imaginative incorrect spelling thread.. the grammer police are also welcome to partisipate.. " funtastic".
" spaacoous".
" misspelled".

More Cockney rhyming slang:
Boat race - face
Barnet fair - hair
Pony & trap - crap
Apples & pears - stairs
Frog & toad - road
'Kermit' is also used for road because it's one stage on from the example above.
I don't mind incorrect spelling if the writer wants to show informal speech or regional accent, dialect, etc. but it does get to me when I have to read something that's full of mistakes.
I don't often have too much trouble with spelling and grammar.
However, I think I'm one of those people at JWN who's typed 'definitely' with an a.
i realise that starting this thread may make me as popular as a ginger stepchild but was there any wts publication that you liked, or at least comfortably tolerated?.
my memory may be deceiving me but i think the greatest man book was pretty good, leaving out the gruesome detail of the crucifixtion and wts doctrine.. also, can anyone tell me the list of books that ray franz authored/co-authored?.
thanks.

after a thorough investigation and weighing of the evidence the grand jury has decided not to indict the officer.. the reaction so far seems as predicted - people refuse to accept that the result represents justice despite claims that is what they wanted.. there is now violence and vandalism, including gunshots.
let's hope the police contain the troublemakers.. .
It's sad that there's looting and arson happening in Ferguson, but totally predictable.
From what I gather the cop acted in fear for his life, and to prevent MB from being a danger to the public.
Similar rioting happened here in England with the shooting of Mark Duggan. It's a shame that young black men get shot but that's what can happen when you have zero respect for law and order.
'America is awash in violence' - as are some British cities. What I want to know is, why doesn't the black community protest about the many black-on-black killings and violence?
Black communities really need to pull their socks up, IMO.
a close jw friend of mine, got married this weekend.ever since he and i meet (13 years ago) when we were both 18 we've been close and we've experienced different life experiences together.. our qualities, have complemented each other well over the years..he the voice of responsibility and reservedness, & i the voice of spontaneity and passion.i taught him about life and he taught me about perseverance through trial.. i care about justice, he cares about reputation.he is a better person then i will ever be, but so stricken by society.. i always stuck my neck out for him, but our friendship was the thorn in his reputations side.he was on the path to mts, and i was on the path of frivolity.despite all this.. when the 2 of us were together, free from the scrutiny of the outside world he was himself, and he was a great friend.
though naive about much, he always tried to do what he could to be a friend.. i was there when he and his now wife first started dating.. i envisioned him marrying her, and my wife & i spending many enjoyable times with them as a couple.. shortly after they meet my wife & i learned ttatt.. i explained my findings to him as i did with all my friends and family.
he being a person, whom i perceived to have great deal of biblical knowledge, i expected valiant effort coming from him to "help me" see where i had erred.all i got was a email with 3 irrelevant watchtower articles & some even more irrelevant scriptures.. i would have surely been his best man, but instead another mutual jw friend was asked.i am not da'd or df'd but this is the pseudo non-invitation that he sent :.
@objectivetruth - sorry that your friend's given you the cold shoulder.
Remember, though, that he doesn't mean it personally - he is under cult mind control.
Sorry, non parlo italiano, 'tutto è bene che riesce bene' = 'all's well that ends well?'

Interesting debate with some good points made.
The christian's idea of evidence, as prof. Wolpert pointed out, is absolutely ridiculous.
When I was younger and a true believer, I once gave my grandfather (agnostic/atheist, doctor of chemistry) the creation book. I can still remember one of his comments that he wrote in the margin in the chapter laying out the Genesis 'account': 'the writer assumes the existence of God - why should I believe this?'

ADCMS - good post. Sagan makes good points that I hadn't really considered before.
Also, perhaps evolution using the scientific method, explains spirituality. I am ignorant of this but would love to study religion/spirituality from an evolutionary perspective.
I read a book on human evolution that contained details of fossilised camp sites used by H. sapiens, H. ergaster, H. erectus and other species (I think).
Maybe there exist fossilised shrines too?
Cofty, oubliette, S&R, anyone?

Can't watch the vid right now, I'm in a silent zone of the uni library.
But for now, I'll say enhance. The scientific method is the only way (or best way, if there are others) of studying nature.
i was listning to a song by ian dury " what a waste" such perfect and apt lyrics to explain my witness life.... anybody got any songs that explain there watchtower existence?.
