  It’s for the SNP to decide when to have another vote - no, it's not.

  Boris just got elected to be PM of the UK on a manifesto promising to 'Get Brexit Done'.

  So, first, we get brexit done (i.e. the whole of the UK, including Scotland, leaving the EU) - however long this may take - and only afterwards can Scotland have IndyRef Mk 2.

  There's also one important caveat: the Scottish electorate will be asked the question whether they want to remain in or leave the UK. Whichever way the vote goes, it will be understood by both Leavers and Remainers that the political union known as the UK won't be broken up in the event that Leave wins - i.e. the UK will continue as a political union with or without Scotland.

  Boris Johnson just got elected UK Prime Minister with a huge majority and therefore with a clear political mandate. This must be accepted by all before we can proceed.

  she has a passion for a cause - but what's her cause? We haven't worked that out yet.

  If I were being cynical, I'd note that she lectures capitalist countries but not communist/socialist ones like China and conclude that her agenda is to overthrow capitalism.

  if i remember correctly it was some lie about all the fossils ever found would fit on a single table.

  the reality is that there is an embarrassment of riches illustrating the evolution of life.

  England voted against having another EU referendum - the UK voted against having another EU referendum.

  Scotland voted in favour of having another independence referendum - well, the SNP did very well and have another UK indy ref on their manifesto.

  But how many UK indy refs do you want?

  Just one more, as long as Leave the UK wins?
  

  Best of three?

  Or just keep re-running it until you get the answer you want (which is leave the UK)?

  Is there ANY democratic mandate for an independence referendum in Scotland that the UK would respect? - how often do you want UK independence referendums?

  Every 5 years?

  If Scotland had a second UK indy ref and chose again to remain in the UK, would you and Wee Jimmy Krankie accept the result and shut up about it?

  The 2014 UK independence referendum was marketed as a once in a generation event.

  @SBF - the problem for the SNP and Scots who want to leave the UK is that they've had that referendum in 2014 and voted to remain in the UK.

  Scotland has decided its future. You're moaning because the referendum didn't go the way you wanted.

  Ireland/N.I. situation also looks to have taken a new twist - does it? First I've heard of it.

  As far as I can see, Boris Johnson said he'd put the border in the Irish Sea and he's just been elected with a huge majority.

  Surely Boris can get on with putting the border in the Irish Sea in due time?

  @Min - I know the point you're making and there is some truth in what you say.

  But, social media is a bit like the Wild West - there's quite a lot of roasting, making fun of people, etc. Greta's parents should protect her from that. And I don't think they're doing their job properly.

  Yes, I agree with Cofty - I want the UK to have no political union with the EU.

  Mutually beneficial trade deals should be sorted out, however long they take.

  I'm realistic in that I know Brexit won't happen over night. But I'm reasonably happy - Boris has won a huge majority, giving him the clear democratic mandate he needs. Also, I feel as if Boris genuinely wants to do Brexit (compare his behaviour with that of Theresa May's).

  Hopefully Brexit will begin in February.

  Would such a deal represent what they thought they were voting for in the referendum? - it's impossible to answer this question. People had the choice of UK remain or UK leave on the ballot. Those Brexiteers who want a hard Brexit, No Deal need to accept that Boris will do the best he can to get us out.
