But the Covid vaccines do work.
They reduce Covid-related deaths.
the main reason most got the vaccine was to protect others.
now they’re being told they can spread it just as easily as the unvaccinated.

so, i saw t2 trainspotting (2017), the sequel to the 1996 original.. i love the original, so this film was a bit of a letdown.. first it had way too much nostalgia.
one particular scene, the one where spud, renton and sick boy return to the countryside to lay flowers in memory of tommy, is really touching.
but there are so many more nods back to the original film that it started to piss me off.. another thing: this is supposed to be twenty years later.
Hi t_b_k - I've never read the book.
What has put me off so far is that the author writes a lot of Scots dialect for the characters' speech. And something about that seems a bit naff to me ...

First it had way too much nostalgia. It could be described as a nostalgia-fest. One particular scene, the one where Spud, Renton and Sick Boy return to the countryside to lay flowers in memory of Tommy, is really touching.

Another thing: this is supposed to be twenty years later. And Sick Boy is still dying his hair platinum blond. Really?! These characters are basically the same as when we left them at the end of the original. It kinda makes them sad, middle-aged men.
On the other hand, if some character development had occurred or been inferred and they were reformed characters, that would probably have been boring.
So, the film makers were kinda out of ideas.
This film isn't really that bad - it is a mixed bag that is worth a watch.
I guess I'm moaning about it because I love the original and this is definitely a step down.
What did you make of it?
i watched the movie by streaming it off line.
i don't pay to watch woke movies ever.
the film had great cinematography.
Hollywood is free to put out any number of woke films.
And I am free not to pay good money to watch this stuff.
They can't ignore profits ...
here is an interesting skit of what would happen if a witness was transparent at your door.. https://youtu.be/b0koiba2kyq.
@Smiddy - yes I agree with your comments.
It's like the Watchtower society has two faces that work in parallel - one to present to the outside world, another to present to the JWs.

Yep, good little skit making a good point.
JW beliefs - the core beliefs usually hidden from the public - are extreme and batshit crazy.
after a conversation with hubby l started thinking about silly lyrics in songs , of which there are many .bang a gong by marc bolan is pretty daft , although apparently his lyrics are deep .
do you have any favourite daft lyrics?

so, i went and bought series one and series two on second hand dvd for one pound each.. i first saw series one of fawlty towers when i was about 11, then i saw series two a year later.. it's a little dated now, but that doesn't really matter because it's still making people laugh.
that's all comedy is.. there is one episode - the kipper and the corpse - which i think is a bit rough around the edges, it's not as polished as some of the other episodes.
but it still has some great lines in it, e.g.. the two old ladies: you're in a good mood today, mr fawlty.. basil: yes, well one of the guests has just died.
@mickbobcat - yeah there was some dialogue in The Germans episode.
Major: And throughout the morning she kept referring to the Indians as n*****s. No, no, I said, n*****s are the West Indians. These people are wogs.
Sure, there are some offensive words spoken but if we look at the context we can see that it is about an old guy who was living in the past (the Major). Previous generations may be bigoted but we don't have to be, that's what it was kinda saying. But activists seem to be incapable of nuance or rationality. They see or hear a word and then have an outburst, demand it to be cut or they'll throw their toys out the pram.

The first episode of the first series is a bit quieter than others but I think it still does a good job of introducing all the characters.
This comedy has nostalgia for me and brings back quite a few memories. And I was born in 1979, I missed out on watching them live.
As I said, it's a little dated, we know we're watching 70s TV, but it's still very well written and laugh-out-loud funny.
so now we know the russian dossier was a fraud, the whole "russian collusion" was a hoax, and we know it was funded by the clintons and promoted by the dem's media allies.. given that this was the basis for an actual attempt to remove the elected president of the united states, this was an attempted insurrection.. clinton is guilty and should face charges.. given that they did this, does anyone still believe that they wouldn't commit some lesser, election fraud, crimes?.
if so, you still haven't learned anything.
"fool me once" and all that ....
@Simon - you're quite right in your OP.
But nothing will happen to Killary, sadly.
