  it is believed there were around 1,400 victims in north west england, focussed on the town of rotherham.. if reports are to be believed, social workers, police and the cpc knew it was happening and everybody failed to act for one simple reason.

  Ruby - the Guardian writer was shamefully attempting to steer the discussion away from a critique of multiculturalism by, in effect, saying 'abuse of children has always happened'

  Muslims make up ~3% of Britain's population. For argument's sake, let's say that half are men of British-Pakistani origin.

  So in Rotherham, the overwhelming majority of the criminals came from c.1.5% of the population. The victims were overwhelmingly white girls. It must not be considered taboo to investigate why this is so.

  BTW I would make a crap politician.

  Your point about multiculturalism being contentious might be the truest thing you've ever said.

  A supposed 'bigger picture' from Al-Grauniad.

  The writer has completely glossed over the fact that the Rotherham scandal, as with some child abuse scandals in other British towns/cities, featured overwhelmingly British-Pakistani muslim men abusing white girls. To try to steer the discussion away from this fact is to stick one's head in the sand. The problems of multiculturalism urgently need to be discussed.

  I expect nothing less from the Guardian. Shameful, pathetic and disgusting.

  I'm glad he's been jailed.

  But ... a 12 year sentence for 25 criminal acts works out at slightly less than 6 months jail time per act. I don't think justice has been done. Add a zero to the end of his sentence and I'd be satisfied.

  Thanks for the vid, cofty. I hadn't heard of this guy before but he's absolutely spot on.

  It's time multiculturalism was ditched, IMO. Everyone should sign up to British culture. Those that choose not to do so can kindly leave.

  I'm all for pluralism and multiracialism but multiculturalism is not working, at least in it's current form.

  The problem's infected the BBC - terrorist acts are committed, not by muslim extremists, but by 'Islamist militants'. Any sane person's idea of a militant would be Bob Crow or Len McClusky, not Bin Laden, and I don't remember either suggesting suicide bombing as a way of achieving their aims.

  Our leaders and newspapers aren't immune - after each Islamist atrocity, Cameron insists 'Islam is a religion of peace'. The Guardian stubbornly and shamefully defends Islam against any criticism. Can you imagine the Guardian's reaction if Christian extremists did beheading, suicide bombings, etc.?

  In my opinion, schools can teach about creationism in Religious Studies. Creationism must not be taught in Science lessons - obviously, evolution must be taught.

  I hope the Tribal Leaders retain the knowledge of their history and pass it on to the young - I hope so, too. Do they teach the history and culture of First Nations people in schools in the area so that outsiders can know more about them?

  designs - that was quite an interesting, thought-provoking video. I'd like to make a few points, if I may. First, we must be careful not to make the mistake of conflating culture and race. People have no control over their race/ethnicity, neither can they change it (Michael Jackson excepted). Culture can be changed and improved so it must not be considered sacred. This would give it undue protection from criticism. Second, whenever you see me on other threads posting about how great Western culture is, it doesn't mean that I view all other cultures as worthless. The cultures of aboriginal peoples must have something right for those peoples to survive for millennia. I read a while ago about a tribe from the Andaman Islands who've decided to completely reject the Western World and carry on as hunter/gatherers. Good for them - I wish them all the best. The only issue I would take is the view promoted by the sandal-wearing, fairtrade coffee-sipping Western professors in the video that other forms of education are equal to Western higher education. Sorry, don't know what happened to the font. F**king ridiculous

  after a thorough investigation and weighing of the evidence the grand jury has decided not to indict the officer.. the reaction so far seems as predicted - people refuse to accept that the result represents justice despite claims that is what they wanted.. there is now violence and vandalism, including gunshots.

  let's hope the police contain the troublemakers.. .

  Officer Wilson has reportedly resigned from the Ferguson Police Department effective immediately - of course he has. Had he continued, he probably would've been stabbed or shot by people 'protesting' against 'injustice'

  The NAACP is organizing a 7 Day 120 mile march from Ferguson to the capital of Missiouri - good. Should burn a few calories.

  is is not true that just like ss troops guarding and operating in a concentration camp jw's would just do whatever they are told?

  ss troops were told to kill jews and most just went along with it without question.

  it scares me to think that most jw's would go along with whatever they're told by their leaders without question..this is one of the reasons why i come here almost every day to see and read posts about whats going on in the religion, so i can be prepared to go save my family from this cult if i need to...

  I don't think the Nazi comparison works. However, ISIS troops are just like Nazi troops, what with all the genocide and warmongering.

  I think maybe JWs are more like moderate muslims - both groups are mentally manipulated by cults that have harsh doctrines.
