Bono, the rock god worth ~£100 million, lectures us about poverty
i didn't know the wtbts had an order.
anyone ever heard of the "order of full time servants" aka "the order" within the jehovah's witnesses?.
(below is a legal document from the wtbts).
Vow of obedience and poverty - the GB's 'vow of poverty' also enables them to live comfortably, and be financially secure for the rest of their lives as long as they don't commit murder or 'apostasy'
Nice gig if you can get it
yes- everyone has faults and makes mistakes; an organization even more so.. yet, you ignore all the fingers pointing at you.. many here have no faith.
many here go to churches who lie about everything biblical; look at x-mas!.
but at least we know god and christ and try to live up to their name!.
DocHouse - you've given a clear answer (one that could mean a JC if voiced to JWs) backed up by slightly vague additional comments.
I do know God has helped us - who is 'us'? You and your family? your local congregation? you plus all JWs, including the GB?
How has God helped you?
You seem to be saying something like: God blesses us by giving us each a brain and a pair of ears and eyes to figure stuff out.
tradition + truth revealed in scripture - how is the WTS different to any other religion?
this incident in paris makes me feel absolutely furious.
yes i feel desperately sorry for the victims and their families no one should have to deal with that.
the thing that makes me feel absolutely incandescent though is the attack on freedom of speech and expression.
You're correct in your use of English, coalize, this event wasn't tragic - it was atrocious.
I hope the injured make a quick recovery and the families of the deceased get the help they need. I hope the terrorists get what they deserve, too.
warning: poes law may apply.
i just wanted to take a moment and remind everyone that all muslims are good people.
"real" muslims would never kill in the name of their religion .
You're correct, Kate, most muslim women have no say in the religion.
But how do you feel about the minority of Western muslim women who make the journey to Syria/Iraq? Not all muslim women are sweet, innocent and oppressed.
i just thought we could share some of the funniest moments since its the holiday season and we are taking things easy.

I think I have to agree with ADCMS: the millions campaign leading up to 1925, with Rutherford confidently expecting the return of the 'ancient worthies' - the liquor-loving lunatic thought that Daniel, Moses et al would be comfortable, post-resurrection, in a Californian mansion. That was a belter, wasn't it!
Also some WTS views on dinosaurs and extant species are hilarious and seemingly hard to parody, although I expect Jehovah's Trumpet website has had/will have a bash at it.

'The religion of peace' - so called because when the blessed mujahideen defend the honour of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), people are gunned down and end up in eternal peace.
I anticipate an article by Seamas Milne showing tender concern for blowback against the muslim community before explaining who the real culprits in all of this really are - America and Israel.
Allahu Akbar!
churches: jesus switched bodies for you and has risen!.
jw org: jesus has been ruling for 100 years!.
both equally ridiculous!~.
DocHouse - so the answer isn't atheism, agnosticism, churchianity or jw.org.
What is the answer? Lemme guess - it's 'DocHouse'

DocHouse - I see you've ignored my second question, well done, so I'd like to put it this way:
Do you believe that the F&DS (GB) is God's channel to mankind?
The fact that you've taken the trouble to join a forum that 'good' JWs regard as 'apostate' suggests to me that you may have doubts.
My advice to you, FWIW, is stick around - everybody's allowed their opinions and beliefs here, and allowed to voice them in a sensible manner.
I hope you sort your situation out
