Here is my anticipated Seamas Milne article, right on schedule:
He says the Paris massacre is blowback from the Iraq war. He seems to think the real culprit in all this is the US.
Nurse!
warning: poes law may apply.
i just wanted to take a moment and remind everyone that all muslims are good people.
"real" muslims would never kill in the name of their religion .

andrekish - apparently, Islam does not mean peace. It means submission, although both salaam (peace, cf. Hebrew shalom) and islam (submission) share the same Arabic 3 letter root (s-l-m).
why do both sides always keep killing civilians who get in their way? - the West makes some effort to minimise civilian casualties; radical Islamists deliberately target civilians.
The West is as guilty as the East - not quite. For the West to be equally bad as radical Islam it would have to behead suspected terrorists in prison, Guantanamo Bay, etc. and film it.
i find it extremely amusing how each year is passing without armageddon.
"for the year 2000, i visualize a world transformed into a beautiful paradise!
but i don't think that either the present world or its rulers will live to see that day.. we are living in the last days of the system of things.
Good find, Splash.
some religious fundamentalists - very vague.
WTS are very good at rewriting their own history and sweeping their own mistakes under the carpet, aren't they?

I'm very late to this thread, but better late than never.
"For the year 2000, I visualize a world transformed into a beautiful paradise! But I don't think that either the present world or its rulers will live to see that day.. We are living in the last days of the system of things." {AWAK Nov 8 1986 78} - great catch, Nosferatu.
Today's witnesses will be thinking: "for the year 2050, I visualise a paradise earth" blah blah blah.
It's worth pointing out that none of the Watchtower's prophecies have happened.

on friday afternoon, as a string of terror attacks roiled france, 24-year-old mali citizen lassana bathily was at work in the underground stockroom of a kosher market named hyper cacher near the porte de vincennes in eastern paris.
he heard gunman amedy coulibaly enter the store and open fire, killing four customers, it was later learned.
this just came to me, must have been mentioned before, right?.
the name of the group is a lie!!.
we all announced and taught that we were "jehovah's witnesses".. i'm struggling to find more words right now..
Good point, kairos. I don't think even ToMo3 or Stephen Lett have witnessed Jehovah.
Of course, be prepared for a true believer to come back with something like the following:
We are walking by faith, not by sight.
We have witnessed Jehovah with our eyes of faith.
Jehovah's blessing in our lives provides us with a witness of him.
on jw tv.
anthony morris is ranting against higher education.
he is blaming parents for enrolling their kids in college.
They seem to think that going to university is all about making money and gaining status - good point. For most students, this is not the case at all. For me, going to uni is a chance to study a subject that I'm interested in. This will hopefully lead to a career that fulfils whatever potential I have. Money is a secondary issue.
The GB, of course, don't have to consider choosing a career - they're waited on hand and foot in bethel and have financial security.

Bono, the rock god worth ~£100 million, lectures us about poverty
i didn't know the wtbts had an order.
anyone ever heard of the "order of full time servants" aka "the order" within the jehovah's witnesses?.
(below is a legal document from the wtbts).
Vow of obedience and poverty - the GB's 'vow of poverty' also enables them to live comfortably, and be financially secure for the rest of their lives as long as they don't commit murder or 'apostasy'
Nice gig if you can get it
yes- everyone has faults and makes mistakes; an organization even more so.. yet, you ignore all the fingers pointing at you.. many here have no faith.
many here go to churches who lie about everything biblical; look at x-mas!.
but at least we know god and christ and try to live up to their name!.
DocHouse - you've given a clear answer (one that could mean a JC if voiced to JWs) backed up by slightly vague additional comments.
I do know God has helped us - who is 'us'? You and your family? your local congregation? you plus all JWs, including the GB?
How has God helped you?
You seem to be saying something like: God blesses us by giving us each a brain and a pair of ears and eyes to figure stuff out.
tradition + truth revealed in scripture - how is the WTS different to any other religion?
