How do you switch off the thoughts of being raised JW and feelings of anger
by Zeds Dead inraised as a jo blow and married into it.
37 years in it and now last 7 years out of it which feels great.. have memories of being a kid in school in the uk and just hating everything about being the jw kid.
bullied, embarrassed in front of others and self-esteem went into the toilet.wished i was born into a different family.. what angers me is the messaging i would receive at home when i talked about being bullied.

Message to the UK gov: let all Afghan interpreters in!
by LoveUniHateExams inyeah, so apparently only two afghan interpreters have been allowed to settle in the uk, along with their immediate family.
this is good but nowhere near good enough.. there are still approx.
40 more translators still trying to survive in afghanistan.. the threat to these people and their families are the taliban and isis-linked terrorists.

There are still approx. 40 more translators still trying to survive in Afghanistan.
The threat to these people and their families are the Taliban and ISIS-linked terrorists. Some have apparently been gunned down or beheaded.
FFS, what is wrong with my country?!
Illegal immigrants can come here from France in a dinghy, but Afghan translators who worked with British soldiers have thus far been denied the right to come and live here.
As far as I can tell, this is a total disgrace.
My message to the UK government is simple: let all Afghan interpreters and their immediate families settle in the UK - now!

I largely agree with Cofty's comments.
Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East.
Israel has LBGT rights (including annual Gay Pride parades), it has political parties Israeli citizens can vote for, it also has made many contributions to science (check out how many Nobel Prize winners Israel has; also, check out how many winners are Jewish).
Israel is the world's only Jewish state. But it also has Israeli Arabs ('Palestinians') in the Knesset, too.
On the other hand, Israel does do bad things. The land grab in the West Bank is appalling.
I also feel sorry for ordinary Palestinians, re how the wider Arab World has treated them. A few decades ago, Syria, Egypt and Lebanon went to war with Israel (the Arab-Israeli War), in an attempt to wipe the country out. The Arab coalition lost that war and seems to have thrown Palestinians under the bus. Not nice.

In the example you give the 24 year old would be guilty of a felony. If the act was consensual he will be imprisoned for a period not more than a year. If it is against the will of the 14 year old he will be imprisoned for 7, 9 or 11 years. [italics mine]
^^^ But 14 year-olds are viewed as being too young to consent to sex. This Bill would water this down if it recognises 14 year olds can consent to sex.
This Bill would be a paedophile's charter.

How many on the board had sex at 16 or 17, whether married or not, to their partner? - this may be true but underage teenagers are typically similar in age, with the boy being a couple of years older than the girl.
This California Bill is nothing to do with that.
If passed, it will enable paedophiles to have sex with minors up to 10 years their junior.
This Bill in its present form must be stopped, no ifs or buts.

I think it might be close because Trump has made a few mistakes in power.
But, like I said on another thread, all Trump has to do is position himself as the champion of law and order.
The Dems have repeatedly made the mistake of tacitly, and sometimes not so tacitly, approving of rioting and looting.
Ordinary Americans/Middle America won't have any of it. The death of George Floyd was bad but they won't put up with looting or rioting.
