RIP Diego Armando Maradona (1960-2020)
by LoveUniHateExams indiego maradona apparently died yesterday, 11-25-2020, from a heart attack aged 60.. on the football pitch he was a genius, a footballer of outrageous talent.
btw i'm english, and like many of my compatriots, i remember how disgraceful his cheating was in the quarter finals of the 1986 world cup against england.
he clearly deliberately punched the football into the net, and that goal should not have been allowed.

The second goal would have been disallowed if VAR was available back then. Foul on I think it was glen hoddle - er, no, he didn't foul Glen Hoddle. Hoddle left his arm out in front of Maradona and Maradona just moved his arm out the way. Believe it or not, football is a contact sport.
Another so called great man who was abusive to women - I don't know about this. Obviously, abusing women is very bad. I just wanted to start a thread about Maradona's footballing talent, which was exceptional.

Do you think “Eventually” the Whole World will become Socialist?
by pistolpete inwhen i say; “socialist” i don’t mean everyone is equal.
instead i am referring to “leaders” being rich and powerful, whereas the ordinary citizen being poor, and powerless.. i was surprise that the majority of the world is run by socialist government.
the last few countries that are not socialist are the united states and parts of europe.

@TD - how would the implementation of social policies work in the US?
Should each state vote for changes or should the entire US population vote on a social policy?
So, if Florida and Cali vote for a social healthcare policy and Texas and Georgia don't, then should the policy be implemented in Florida and Cali, or should the entire US electorate vote and whichever side wins, then that result should be implemented in all states, or what?

What the Russian authorities are doing is very bad in terms of cracking down on freedom of belief and religion.
But, at the same time, they're acting for the general good of Russian citizens in that the Russian government has determined that the Watchtower organisation is a threat to their society.
That leads me to a good question: is the WTS a threat to society?
