  The bridge

  so my father, who is an active jehovah’s witness, told me yesterday of an experience currently doing its rounds amongst the witnesses in relation to cart witnessing.

  there is a bridge called ‘the bridge’ which is a well known place for people committing suicide.

  apparently the jws have been setting up there literature carts there for a while now and ever since they have there has been no more suicide attempts from the bridge.

  this appeared in the local paper 'stratford herald' october 2015. the guy was supported by his congregation and he has now been released from prison and is once again part of the same congregation.

  allen (43) of evesham road, dodwell, stratford, was jailed for two years and eight months and ordered to register as a sex offender for life after he pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual activity with a child.. prosecutor andrew wallace said jehovah’s witness allen had met the girl in the mid-2000s through the church.. the girl, now a young woman in her 20s, said she began to fancy allen, who had started to pay her compliments.. then on one occasion when he gave her a lift, despite being fully aware she was only 15, allen put his hand down her trousers and penetrated her with his fingers.. she did not object or tell anyone what had happened, and there were further consensual incidents between them, including various types of sexual activity but not full intercourse.. someone who suspected what was going on between allen, a family man in his 30s, and the girl said something to her mother.. but when she challenged both her daughter and allen about what she had heard, they both denied it.. things stopped after the girl began to feel guilty about what was happening, and she eventually decided to come forward last year and contacted the police.. she said she had been dramatically affected by what had gone on, and that what happened with allen caused her to suffer a breakdown and still haunts her.. when allen was questioned by the police he accepted the incidents had taken place, but claimed it was the girl who had taken the lead, added mr wallace.. elizabeth power, defending, said allen, who has a son and a daughter who are now both in their 20s, had attended for a voluntary interview with the police and made admissions.. “he did not force himself on her; but he was the adult and she was a child.

  it occurred to me the other day that i don't actually know all that much about the bible.

  dont get me wrong, i was a very dedicated and studious jehovah's witness and i studied the bible every day - or so i thought.

  i have now realised that during the time i spent in that religion i didn't study the bible - i studied jehovah's witness theology.

  The murder of a young lady

  police have launched a murder investigation after a 20-year-old woman was found dead in her flat with neck wounds.. a friend claims bethany hill, 20, from statford-upon-avon, warwickshire, may have had bleach poured down her throat.. an ambulance was called to the scene on hertford road around 7pm on wednesday, february 3, but the victim was pronounced dead shortly after.. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/6915417/20-year-old-found-dead-in-her-flat-may-have-been-force-fed-bleach.htmlthe young lady was raised and baptised as a jehovahs witness.

  she spent most years of her faith in the same congregtion as archie stevens who died in a car crash and is mentioned in another thread.

  a couple of years ago, the young lady stopped her activity with the witenesses to seek a normal life.

  Car crash

  boy who was seriously injured in a collision at gamlingay in cambridgeshire last thursday has died.. nine-year-old archie stevens, of western way, sandy, bedfordshire, died in hospital early on saturday afternoon.. the collision at about 10am in drove road, which involved two cars, also resulted in the death of his grandfather, 68-year-old martin harker, of green acres, sandy, who died at the scene.http://www.itv.com/news/anglia/update/2016-02-22/nine-year-old-boy-dies-after-cambridgeshire-crash/.

  the boy and his grandfather were jehovahs witnesses and they were on field service when a car drove into them.

  the lad, who is the son of an elder who moved to a cambridge congregation to serve where the need is greater, was on life support before the sad decision was made to turn it off.

  i work in a village called drakesbroughton in between pershore and worcester in worcestershire.

  its a large village with about 400 homes.

  recently it turned into a no cold calling zone and someone in the village ordered stickers for every household saying "no cold callers, no surveys, no canvassers and no religious callers.

  feeling like a true apostate today

  it was back in 2011 when i was convinced that jws dont have the truth.

  i rejected so many teachings and was open about that to members of my family.

  it took me another year to pluck up the courage to attend other churches.

  this thread isn't meant to go into discussing how deceptive the society has been over the translation of this passage of scripture as that has been done many times on here.

  what i want to know is this - the society has inserted the word other in the collosions verses and the one in philippians (above every (other) name).

  they've done this for doctrinal matters.
