old school witnesses thrived on the fact they were different and persecuted for it.

it was a point of pride.. i think the whole witness experience is much more social based for younger and newer witnesses.

that may be why so many newer ones that come to this board cannot understand or accept some of the information we present here about how things "used to be".

A couple of young JW's, I'm guessing they were in their early 20's, came by not too long ago and I spoke to them. I asked them about the videos on the internet showing the JW's at the Hall dancing, singing folk/pop songs, playing "Happy" by Pharrell or whatever his name is. These young JW's just looked at me with a blank stare and then said, "We're just trying to show people that we are not a bunch of old fuddy-duddy's!" (The JW's that I grew up in prided themseves on being fuddy-duddy's).

They knew exactly what videos I was talking about and admitted as much. That's when I realized, just as those commenting here have stated, they have grown up in this new tech savvy world and don't know any different! Satan's music being played in the Kingdom Hall, yeah, so what?

Which goes right along with what many have stated in other threads, don't hold your breath waiting for the WT to collapse. They will change with the times and do whatever it takes to keep the money rolling in! The older ones will either leave the Org or die, the younger ones will never understand what the fuss is all about, (until they get older and see the newer changes that will inevitably occur).

Life On Mars!!!

i first heard of this a couple of years ago, i think it is nasa that is sending people to mars to begin a colony on the red planet.

they will never be allowed to return to earth.

i just saw on the morning news that they have 100 people narrowed down who have volunteered.

They may actually leave sometime this Fall and the trip will take about 8 months for them to travel the 200 million miles to get there.

This is all true, I'm not making this up. But here is my question. I wonder if there will be any Jehovahs Witnesses who will be onboard for this adventure? Think about it! What a grand opportunity for the Watchtower to expand the preaching work into new, unchartered territory! The possibilities are limitless!!!

Since Jesus is Lord and Savior over those on Earth, will they still be subject to his laws and those laws of the Watchtower??

how do cope (if you are coping) with a sense of isolation, of not having a significant other?.

i know some single persons who are very happy as they are.

I am 60 years old and never married. I was miserable when I was younger, in my 20's and 30's. Now I'm on the other side of the mountain. I'm pretty happy. All my married friends are the ones who are miserable.

That's basically what I'm saying as well. When I say that they will be around as long as there is money coming in, I'm saying that's a long, long time. Because, as a wise man once said, "There's a sucker born every minute."

When I discovered that the WT was not the truth I figured that they would shut down in a few short years. Now I know better. A large portion of JW's simply don't care whether it is true or not, it's a comfortable old worn out shirt to them.

And there's enough people with that attitude to keep the WT going financially for a very long time!

I discovered The Truth About The Truth in the fall of 1998 thanks to this new fangled invention called the internet. Now, I'm just a person of average intelligence, at best, but I figured that since I learned about the Real Truth, everyone else would too. The information is out there, the End of the Watchtower is surely Just Around the Corner!!

But for the next couple of years I would notice when I was driving around and would pass by a Kingdom Hall that the parking lots were usually packed! I just couldn't figure out how this could be! Surely if I can see through the scam, everyone will too!

Yeah, I've learned. The WT is just like a David Copperfield act. Like the best Illusionists, they are good at what they do, which is pulling the wool over people's eyes.

Just like the person who started this post, I thought the WT would come to an end within a few years. But as I stated earlier, I now believe that as long as there is money to be made, they will be around for a very long time. Many JW's are afraid to use their own brains, it is easier to just go along with whatever the Governing Body says. Many of them actually have realized that it is not The Truth, but they stay in because of family or whatever.

So, in spite of bad publicity, in spite of any financial problems the WT might be experiencing, the WT will continue morphing into whatever it takes to keep the blind, faithful constantly donating their hard earned money into the beast.

And if they do fall, well, like I already said, they will just come back under a new name and start all over.

You're right, I had forgotten about that one! I was primarily thinking about scam companies I had seen on 60 minutes and such, they either go bankrupt or are forced out of business, but they eventually are back under a different name.

Also, it happened when Russell died. Many didn't choose to follow Rutherford and dozens of offshoots of International Bible Students sprung up all over the country!

Oh, and by the way, even if the day should come when the Tower crumbles, I wouldn't get too overjoyed. Judging by history, when the WT falls dozens of other offshoots will spring up to take its place

Or, just like other companies that get forced out of business, they often lay low for awhile then reemerge under a different name.

The JW religion will end when they can no longer turn a profit. As long as people keep donating money, they will exist in one form or another.

I don't remember exactly what WT article it was, but it was back in the earl 50's I believe when they changed their stance on refusing vaccinations. As I recall their words were, We can no longer AFFORD to enforce our position on vaccinations. That is not a verbatim quote, but they did say "no longer afford".

They will continue morphing to accommodate inconvenient laws and the flow of $$'s.

earlier in the week someone posted the potential value of the jw website based on visits and if they used advertisements.

many stated they would never do that but i propose they could.. besides their real estate profit making business model, they have the conventions as cash generating machines.

they give directions to their members to which hotels/motels to use.

Never say never. No matter what I thought of JW's, good or bad, I truly NEVER would have believed that they would allow rock n roll, hip hop music AND dancing inside the Kingdom Hall. Now I'm a believer...

About 10 years ago we had Hurricane Katrina and the tsunami overseas. News journalists and pundants (as well as many everyday average citizens) were describing these events as "of BIBLICAL proportions". I don't even have to suggest to you what the average JW was thinking.

And of course, this was just a few years after 9/11. A lot of people, not just JW's, were thinking "this has just got to be the end!"

Well within the next ten years there will be new events, bigger events, that will have people believing that "this has just got to be the end!"
