  i'm reading babylon the great has fallen, god's kingdom rules, published 1963. this was studied years ago when i was about 10-12 years old.

  i wanted to just read some of the beliefs from decades ago.

  my wife wants to know why i'm reading this book.

  :) Great thread! lol. I remember my JW mom prominently displayed her set of Russels "Studies in the Scriptures" in the living room used for the local book study group for all to see so she could brag about how long she had been a JW. (Next to the 1930s family photo in front of a sound car).

  So I just grabbed them one day when I was about 17 and read a ton of bat shit crazy stuff about Egyptian Pyramids foretelling the future. Great illustrations that I showed her over dinner. :) She jumped up like she had seen a ghost and said: "Don't read that old crap! It will knock you out of the truth!!!!! " lol :)

  Organized Rioting Across America Due To A Black Man’s Death

  cities across america have been pillaged and destroyed these last few days.

  a white policeman has been charged with murder of a black man.

  protests have been organized across major us cities and horrible riots have occurred.

  Out of state "protesters" arrived today by busses in our town. Protests are scheduled for tomorrow. Most shops are desperately hanging on since COVID lockdowns. Owners were installing plywood tonight and closing stores in anticipation. We have a very small minority community in our small California town. I hope nothing happens. These same "protestors" (Anarchists") were run out of a small Oregon town a couple of days ago by armed residents performing a counter-protest. The protesters seemed to have exited sheepishly on videos.

  Who is paying for the gas and bus rental, food, and lodging? The custom shirts? Bolt cutters and crowbars? Molotov cocktails and spray paint? Pallets of bricks have been dropped in advance at some venues. $$$$ ????

  do you remember about 6 years ago that kid in the uk whose jw parents took him out of a hospital for proton beam treatment for his cancer and ended up as the subject of an interpol police search?

  with the upcoming elections, the campaigns and political rhetoric are ramping up.

  (ramping up is an understatement lol) .

  i remember a few years ago, gb member brother herd mentioned during one of his talks that several witnesses were either reproved or disfellowshipped for voting for a certain presidential candidate who won...twice.

  The whole thing got the "conscience"(shimmy-shammy) treatment in the mid-90s. Flock book and questions from the readers. No idea why. Still the publisher would not be "exemplary".

  Publicly stating the fact or joining a political group = disassociation. (USA).

  Hard to know what to believe. As a kid I really hated the JW belief of "Theocratic strategy"- AKA- Lies. At Bethel, I found the whole super-secret "need to know" system about jobs..weird...and actually deceptive. I actually traveled to meetings and ate eat meals with a brother for months before he finally admitted he was a Zone overseer. (After trying to remember if I had ever told him any "edgy jokes"..I then thought it was weird.) As an elder, I found the wishy-washy non-answer "answers" from the service desk disingenuous to say the least...especially on the subjects of domestic violence and child molesting. I don't even have to get into what happens if you try to get a straight answer from HQ if you ask for your $$ LOAN to be re-payed. Truth...what is Truth....as far as Watchtower is concerned.

  Not as easy to verify in NYC, as in most states. There are many reasons to keep OBITs out of the paper. Wills, estates, legal process...until one can get a handle on the estate and find a replacement officer. Hard to do during this shutdown, especially in NYC...most Courthouses are closed. Watchtower possibly has a multitude of financial reasons to delay, not to mention lots of elderly donors who this might shakeup. $50 and a good reason will get a cert. https://www.health.ny.gov/vital_records/death.htm

Any feedback from the rank and file? The President of The Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, Robert Ciranko, has died of Covid-19 in New York, the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses has announced.
