Nobody else understands
by ElderBerry inif you once were fully pimi and truly believed jw doctrine to the core like i once did, when you come to the reality that it is not the truth at all it can be extremely devastating.. i think only other ex jws could ever understand.
i wasted my entire life i thought the real life was yet to come to wasted the best years knocking on doors.
now i’m so angry.. i can understand why so many top themselves when they realise it was all lies..

Elderberry, we get it. "If you once were fully PIMI and truly believed JW doctrine to the core like I once did, when you come to the reality that it is not the truth at all it can be extremely devastating.
I think only other ex JWs could ever understand. I wasted my entire life I thought the real life was yet to come to wasted the best years knocking on doors. Now I’m so angry."
Yes, even though we woke up 10 years ago...it was 40 + years late. I am mostly mad at myself for being conned. What adult believes in Santa?

Biahi Yes I remember our old Congregational Servant/PO spouting the secret sin stuff off the platform. Hours or attendance low? Must be a secret sin! lol. Killed in service? Secret sin!

Life in a spiritual (UN)-paradise
by Reasonfirst ina long, long time ago, when i was young, i became a 'special' pioneer.
it meant that i had to spend 150 hours a month, and i received a small allowance.
i was then assigned to a small country congregation, in western nsw (australia).

50 + years in the Borg.... ah hemm the "Spiritual Paradise". 3 US States. 10+ Congregations.
Redneck rural ones, Big City hispanic and black ones, and Silicon Valley wealthy ones. I have yet to experience one that was a "Spiritual Paradise".
Hard to fit in most halls if you are not related to one of the dominant families, or "Too" Theocratic, TOO rich, Too poor, not Theocratic enough, etc., etc., 1/3 of the hall will not approve of you if you are a high hour publisher, low hour publisher, Ministerial servant, Elder, Pioneer, Publisher, working stiff, white collar, or blue collar. lol. :)
IMO most halls are "Clicky" and most JWs are judgemental...it flows downhill from headquarters in my opinion.

by Riley inwhat is with the jw cadence when they speak.

Just had a thought…
by Vidiot ini been reading quite a few experiences on reddit lately, and their seems to be a common theme coming up….
…dialed-up-to-eleven shunning of xjws by their witness relatives.. it reminds me of back in the day, listening to some of the over-the-top vitriol displayed by hard-core loyalists when the topic of evolution or apostates came up….
…i was gobsmacked when i finally realized these guys weren’t offended and indignant because they thought it was lies….

Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
"Relax, " said the night man
"We are programmed to receive
You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave!" -

The OP brings up some great points. When 3rd gen and I "checked out" and became "inactive" we kept our mouths shut. We wrote no letters, made no announcements, and moved to another circuit's territory. However, we had about 200 JW relatives in 3 states, Bethel and Gilead. 99% of them said nothing, we simply stopped getting calls and invites to dinners and reunions.
However, ONE relative who had called frequently over the years was an early internet adopter (AOL) C.O.s daughter, Elder's wife, and grandmother. She called and informed me about the "Silent Lamb"/JW child molesting victim movement. She forwarded newspaper clippings of California Molesting cases to me. She asked if the Russel Pyramid existed, and then bought a couple of cross-country plane tickets to SEE and verify it! She was shocked and dismayed by the Generation change. It appeared she then became "JW light" and missed many meetings, service, etc. However, when we simply stopped attending, she made a big announcement to all the family that WE had become apostates!!! She created a lot of drama that the various "JWlite" members passed around. It seemed it was to direct attention away from themselves..." at least we are not apostates"!
I had seen this type of attitude and comments before. One young JW had a real taste for the sisters :) and had been disfellowshiped repeatedly. Later over coffee, he exclaimed to me when I was an Elder, "I like sex, but at least I'm not an apostate".
It is strange how JWs don't go on about Drug dealers, murderers, and rapists as they do about anyone who decides to check out of Hotel California. :)

Bathwater
by peacefulpete inmany who have become disillusioned by some particular recent wt offence, separate from the church physically but retain the indoctrination the wt installed in their brains.
a familiar trope is often used,.
"don't throw the baby out with the bathwater!".

Good post. Very true.
The wife and I constantly have to remind each other to re-examine WHY we have the opinions and outlooks we have on just about everything. Usually, there was no baby in that bathwater.
The more we read and discuss, the better our judgment becomes. It takes time.

WELCOME to the group from the "Ass" and 3rd Gen! A weight has been lifted from your shoulders.
Take a while to breathe the air. :)
Take a little time to do some reading( you will suddenly have more time). JWfacts.com, and then ex-Governing Body member Ray Franz's book: Crisis of Conscience. Another good read: "Combatting Cult Mind Control" by Steven Hassan.
It took my wife and I over 50 years to wake up. Good for you for doing it sooner! :)

Growing up as a JW in the 1960s and 1970s, a common refrain from the yearbook, local Elders and Circuit overseers was how JWs were protected at meetings, Conventions, and in the Field Service by "the Angels". Experiences of "Divine intervention" during service, WW2, in communist lands, and conventions were common. The internet and Google are regularly debunking this myth in the 21st century. Hopefully, prudent planning, security measures, and some common sense will be implemented soon to replace wishful thinking to protect the innocent lives of Watchtower followers.
The death toll continues to rise from the latest incident in India.
KOCHI: The death toll from the series of explosions at the Zamra convention centre in Kalamassery during a Jehovah's Witnesses prayer meeting on October 29 has now reached seven. A 77-year-old man, K A John, succumbed to burn injuries on Saturday evening.
John had been receiving treatment at Aster Medcity, and according to hospital sources, his condition deteriorated on Thursday, leading to ventilator support. The cause of death was identified as multiple organ dysfunction and his passing was confirmed at 3:49 in the evening.
A Thodupuzha native, John's wife, Lilly John, is currently undergoing treatment at the same hospital. The couple leaves behind three children - Lijo, Liji, and Linto.
The other victims of the explosions include Leona Paulose (55) of Iringol, Perumbavoor; Kumari (52) of Kaliyar, Thodupuzha; Moly Joy (61) of Kalamassery, as well as Malayattoor residents Praveen Pradeepan (24), Libna (12), and Saly Pradeepan (45). The incident has left the community mourning the loss of these lives and grappling with the aftermath of the tragic event.
