JW's face certain death NOW.....
by BoogerMan in...if they openly question/disagree with a current truth from the evil faithful slave - "truths" such as this one: .
w83 10/1 p. 19 - "...a large number of the 1914 generation are still living today.
of course, their numbers are steadily dwindling, and, therefore, sometime in the near future, we confidently can expect “the end” to come...".

Nepotism and Simony
by NotFormer ini've read on here about connected families within congregations who seem to get all the "privileges".
how likely is an elder's son, or other relative, to rise within the ranks?.
i imagine it's harder to do it that way once you start to ascend the ranks.

People are people.
Greasing palms of influencing the right people will ALWAYS help...big time.
Cocktails, a nice meal, and a few clean jokes go a long way everywhere.
A free Lunch and a round of golf goes a long way.
A credit card, a couple of free dresses, and free suits to any Circuit Overseer and his wife are priceless. :)

Retirement
by jehovaxx inthe difference is now blatantly obvious, older ones who went against direction of the gb and planned for retirement have relatively more comfortable lives.. those who trusted and followed gb direction never got further education or training, pioneered or spent most of their lives knocking on doors for free, making just enough to get by in a part time job.. if you followed direction from the gb then you thought the end was just around the corner so no need to plan for retirement.. now these ones have indeed got old which they were given the impression they never would.
they are a burden on others.
the state has to pay for them in their old age.

In the late '60s, I was told by Mom and all my JW relatives I would never graduate from High School, get married, or have kids because...the end was SOOOO close!
I had a free ride to college...but all the elders counseled me to Pioneer and go to Bethel instead...because the end was any day!!
In the 80s the Elders and Circuit Overseer met with me to counsel me about my quitting pioneering and taking a full-time job with a financial firm .." in the eye of Satan's economic system" because the end was SOOOO close!
In the 80s the Elders met with me again because my " IRA and 401k showed a "lack of faith" in the end being SOOOO close".
2023.... I have been retired for years, all those elders, JW relatives, and COs are dead or in ratty government-subsidized rest homes.

Nobody else understands
by ElderBerry inif you once were fully pimi and truly believed jw doctrine to the core like i once did, when you come to the reality that it is not the truth at all it can be extremely devastating.. i think only other ex jws could ever understand.
i wasted my entire life i thought the real life was yet to come to wasted the best years knocking on doors.
now i’m so angry.. i can understand why so many top themselves when they realise it was all lies..

Elderberry, we get it. "If you once were fully PIMI and truly believed JW doctrine to the core like I once did, when you come to the reality that it is not the truth at all it can be extremely devastating.
I think only other ex JWs could ever understand. I wasted my entire life I thought the real life was yet to come to wasted the best years knocking on doors. Now I’m so angry."
Yes, even though we woke up 10 years ago...it was 40 + years late. I am mostly mad at myself for being conned. What adult believes in Santa?

No Divine protection for Jehovah's Witnesses' gatherings. JW Death toll rises around the world.
by Balaamsass2 ingrowing up as a jw in the 1960s and 1970s, a common refrain from the yearbook, local elders and circuit overseers was how jws were protected at meetings, conventions, and in the field service by "the angels".
experiences of "divine intervention" during service, ww2, in communist lands, and conventions were common.
the internet and google are regularly debunking this myth in the 21st century.

Biahi Yes I remember our old Congregational Servant/PO spouting the secret sin stuff off the platform. Hours or attendance low? Must be a secret sin! lol. Killed in service? Secret sin!

Life in a spiritual (UN)-paradise
by Reasonfirst ina long, long time ago, when i was young, i became a 'special' pioneer.
it meant that i had to spend 150 hours a month, and i received a small allowance.
i was then assigned to a small country congregation, in western nsw (australia).

50 + years in the Borg.... ah hemm the "Spiritual Paradise". 3 US States. 10+ Congregations.
Redneck rural ones, Big City hispanic and black ones, and Silicon Valley wealthy ones. I have yet to experience one that was a "Spiritual Paradise".
Hard to fit in most halls if you are not related to one of the dominant families, or "Too" Theocratic, TOO rich, Too poor, not Theocratic enough, etc., etc., 1/3 of the hall will not approve of you if you are a high hour publisher, low hour publisher, Ministerial servant, Elder, Pioneer, Publisher, working stiff, white collar, or blue collar. lol. :)
IMO most halls are "Clicky" and most JWs are judgemental...it flows downhill from headquarters in my opinion.

I hate the way they talk.
by Riley inwhat is with the jw cadence when they speak.
do they think they are teaching people ?
they sound like pro wrestlers doing promos or shakespearean actors.

Just had a thought…
by Vidiot ini been reading quite a few experiences on reddit lately, and their seems to be a common theme coming up….
…dialed-up-to-eleven shunning of xjws by their witness relatives.. it reminds me of back in the day, listening to some of the over-the-top vitriol displayed by hard-core loyalists when the topic of evolution or apostates came up….
…i was gobsmacked when i finally realized these guys weren’t offended and indignant because they thought it was lies….

Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
"Relax, " said the night man
"We are programmed to receive
You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave!" -

The OP brings up some great points. When 3rd gen and I "checked out" and became "inactive" we kept our mouths shut. We wrote no letters, made no announcements, and moved to another circuit's territory. However, we had about 200 JW relatives in 3 states, Bethel and Gilead. 99% of them said nothing, we simply stopped getting calls and invites to dinners and reunions.
However, ONE relative who had called frequently over the years was an early internet adopter (AOL) C.O.s daughter, Elder's wife, and grandmother. She called and informed me about the "Silent Lamb"/JW child molesting victim movement. She forwarded newspaper clippings of California Molesting cases to me. She asked if the Russel Pyramid existed, and then bought a couple of cross-country plane tickets to SEE and verify it! She was shocked and dismayed by the Generation change. It appeared she then became "JW light" and missed many meetings, service, etc. However, when we simply stopped attending, she made a big announcement to all the family that WE had become apostates!!! She created a lot of drama that the various "JWlite" members passed around. It seemed it was to direct attention away from themselves..." at least we are not apostates"!
I had seen this type of attitude and comments before. One young JW had a real taste for the sisters :) and had been disfellowshiped repeatedly. Later over coffee, he exclaimed to me when I was an Elder, "I like sex, but at least I'm not an apostate".
It is strange how JWs don't go on about Drug dealers, murderers, and rapists as they do about anyone who decides to check out of Hotel California. :)
