A JW Attorney told me the hardest part of working for Watchtower was "His client lying to him". He said "Theocratic strategy" (lying) made him look like a fool in open court many times...and he hated it.

Judge Rutherford had TWO female "helpers". they went everywhere with him. lol.
I had a female book study conductor in our home in the 60s.
We had a Sister do the accounts in the 60s and compile the time reports.
One mentally slow elder in the 70s had his wife write all his talks.

If you were to design a new religion?
by ExBethelitenowPIMA inwhat the jw sect has become and is slowly becoming is far more near what i thought could be a good religion based on the bible.. no more counting hours and no more blindly following direction now they admit they are not inspired.. i would like to design a new sect inside the jws.
it has to be kept secret because the elders would not like it.. this new sect involves giving a tick every month or so saying you are still kindof active talking about the bible.. going to meetings occasionally and attending on zoom sometimes.
very rarely go to ministry groups but don’t ever do first call, just say you are doing street work and have a nice walk somewhere maybe the shops or the park.

I believe there are many existing adherents to your new religion already.
I have a PIMO JW friend who calls every week. He belongs to this group "https://beroeans.net/ " They have Zoom meetings and STILL attend JW meetings!!!! Everyone "partakes." Some are current JW elders.
If you look at the last few years of JW "Partakers", especially in the third-world countries, I believe there is possibly already a "Shadow JW Religion".

I had a JW friend who was an Attorney. Watchtower almost drove him into bankruptcy asking for "favors" 24/7. He was happy to do it for free, but after a couple of years, it got really old. He closed his private practice, got a 9-5 job for a large corporation, and told Watchtower he could no longer help.
A family member who is a Para legal was asked to help as well. After two years of free labor. She left.
I imagine many professionals get tired of defending pedophiles for free.

Jehovah's Witnesses no longer count time. How is this news affecting moral and meeting attendance at local congregations?

Thanks, everyone, I appreciate the feedback.
The current religion bears little resemblance to the one I belonged to in my youth (1960s-1970s). I have talked to a number of older JWs who are dismayed by so many of the flip-flops.
I just GOOGLED "Jehovah's Witnesses" this morning and skimmed the first 5 pages of websites and news headlines. Watchtower PR dept is trying to bury the negative stories with arcane PR releases small papers use for filler on slow news days, but regular stories of child rape and other abuse cover-ups still show up on almost every page. It simply boggles my mind how/why so many rank-and-file JWs still attend at all.
I would love to have a peek at the donation figures. Money talks.

No more Watchtower and Awake mags every 2 weeks to place. No private home Book Studies. No more "essential" spiritual food meals 5x a week. No more counting of time. Pioneering requirements lowered. Kingdom Halls essentially closed for three years. No conventions/assemblies for three years. Zoom meetings one can attend ...or...not... in pajamas with a cocktail. Another "Spirit Anointed" Governing Body ("Tight pants" boozer Tony Morris) member was booted from Bethel headquarters. Continuous begging for money. The end is still....just....around...and.... around the corner....NOT. And more inspired flip-flops.
How is this affecting "still in" JWs you know? Does the local Kingdom Hall have any cars in the parking lots on Sundays? How many?
An old JW (PIMO) friend called today to say his local San Francisco Bay Area halls are only 30% filled now, and he has heard the same from halls all over California. What are you seeing and hearing?

Can the Watchtower Society survive without time reports?
by DT inthere has already been much discussion about how the watchtower society has declared in australia that going door to door is part of a personal ministry.
this seems to be a lame attempt to avoid liability considering that they require time reports and have formal meetings for field service at the kingdom hall.. this is a bit of a dilemma.
reporting time and formal meetings for field service are important methods of control, however it's not clear if the organization is willing or able to handle the potential liability that may come from this.. imagine what would happen if they lost these methods of control.
