oh yea that old 'not be tempted beyond what you can bear' logic,
i hate that, its simply not true! how many people are on anti depressants because they cant BEAR LIFE ANYMORE! when you pray to die, its beyond what you can bear!

Preaching... a requirement for baptism?
by StarTrekAngel inso i have been doing some reading lately.
i have yet to bump into the text that show that preaching is a requirement to qualify for baptism.
in fact, i have read more paragraphs that say otherwise.

I thought it was this, Jesus baptized by water , to be washed clean of the sin of denying he was the messiah for Israel. [apostasy] in Acts , those were fellow Israelite's, the 'men of Judea ' who were being 'preached' to,
and brought back into the fold by their getting baptized. the 3000 repented.
and so, no one other than the 12 who were told to go to the lost sheep of the house of israel and preach repentance were to do that work.
now, Paul baptism is 'in spirit', and as a gentile I am not required to be baptized under the water of repentance since I was not a member of the house of Israel.
am I wrong?

well 2nd Corinthians 2 vs 2,3,4, says paradise is in the third heaven.
and Jesus said to the man next to him, you will be with me in paradise.
so, where does Jesus live?

Fun with the book of Job
job ch 1 vs4 they celebrated birthdays. [oh my!] and it was several days long...
new international version
4 His sons used to hold feasts in their homes on their birthdays, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.
or
other version...
4 His sons used to go and hold a feast in the house of each one on his day, and they would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.
[how would a jw twist the following scripture that says Job offered a sin offering in case the sinned...]
5.After a series of banquet days was complete, Job would send for them in order to sanctify them. Then he would get up early in the morning and offer up burnt sacrifices+ for each of them. For Job said: “Maybe my sons have sinned and have cursed God in their heart.” That is what Job would always do.+
ah, Job always did it, and it was ‘maybe my sons have sinned’ not they have sinned.
what would the sin be? in my opinion,
loose conduct being too drunk.
here,
Where the LORD and GOD seem to be two different beings [id say they are not, why speak of Lord and God separately like that]
and where The Lord, gives a raving lunatic the right to destroy an innocent mans family....
vs 8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”
9 “Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. 10 “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. 11 But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.”
12 The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.”
Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
CH 2 where THE Lord says Satan ‘made’ me do it.....ch2
3 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.”
so, God does things without any reason.....
Job had no concept of living again after death
ch 7
16 I loathe my life; I would not live forever.
Leave me alone, for my days are a breath.
ch 10
20 Are not my days few?
Then cease, and leave me alone, that I may find a little cheer
21 before I go—and I shall not return—
to the land of darkness and deep shadow,
22 the land of gloom like thick darkness,
like deep shadow without any order,
where light is as thick darkness.”
apparently there really WERE half horse half men, lol
ch 11 vs 12 12 But a stupid man will get understanding
when a wild donkey's colt is born a man!
chapter 12 describes quite a moody Lord, [Not a moody God? read it, its quite interesting , its too long to post.]
[who was around to record THE LORDS answer to Job in ch 38 -39]
God made birds stupid for apparently no reason.
ch 39..
13. “The wings of the ostrich wave proudly,
but are they the pinions and plumage of love?[a]
14 For she leaves her eggs to the earth
and lets them be warmed on the ground,
15 forgetting that a foot may crush them
and that the wild beast may trample them.
16 She deals cruelly with her young, as if they were not hers;
though her labor be in vain, yet she has no fear,
17 because God has made her forget wisdom
and given her no share in understanding.
18 When she rouses herself to flee,[b]
she laughs at the horse and his rider.
this is a fire breathing dragon.... and it flies....
Job 41
[a] “Can you draw out Leviathan[b] with a fishhook or press down his tongue with a cord? 2 Can you put a rope in his nose or pierce his jaw with a hook? 3 Will he make many pleas to you? Will he speak to you soft words? 4 Will he make a covenant with you to take him for your servant forever? 5 Will you play with him as with a bird, or will you put him on a leash for your girls? 6 Will traders bargain over him? Will they divide him up among the merchants? 7 Can you fill his skin with harpoons or his head with fishing spears? 8 Lay your hands on him; remember the battle—you will not do it again! 9 [c] Behold, the hope of a man is false; he is laid low even at the sight of him. 10 No one is so fierce that he dares to stir him up. Who then is he who can stand before me? 11 Who has first given to me, that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is mine.
12 “I will not keep silence concerning his limbs, or his mighty strength, or his goodly frame. 13 Who can strip off his outer garment? Who would come near him with a bridle? 14 Who can open the doors of his face? Around his teeth is terror. 15 His back is made of[d] rows of shields, shut up closely as with a seal. 16 One is so near to another that no air can come between them. 17 They are joined one to another; they clasp each other and cannot be separated. 18 His sneezings flash forth light, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the dawn. 19 Out of his mouth go flaming torches; sparks of fire leap forth. 20 Out of his nostrils comes forth smoke, as from a boiling pot and burning rushes. 21 His breath kindles coals, and a flame comes forth from his mouth. 22 In his neck abides strength, and terror dances before him. 23 The folds of his flesh stick together, firmly cast on him and immovable. 24 His heart is hard as a stone, hard as the lower millstone. 25 When he raises himself up the mighty[e] are afraid; at the crashing they are beside themselves. 26 Though the sword reaches him, it does not avail, nor the spear, the dart, or the javelin. 27 He counts iron as straw, and bronze as rotten wood. 28 The arrow cannot make him flee; for him sling stones are turned to stubble. 29 Clubs are counted as stubble; he laughs at the rattle of javelins. 30 His underparts are like sharp potsherds; he spreads himself like a threshing sledge on the mire. 31 He makes the deep boil like a pot; he makes the sea like a pot of ointment. 32 Behind him he leaves a shining wake; one would think the deep to be white-haired. 33 On earth there is not his like, a creature without fear. 34 He sees everything that is high; he is king over all the sons of pride.” -

you might be a JW
If every teenage private conversation with your mother ends in this advice
'well pray on it, Jehovah will give you the answer' [and she gives you little if any advice, basically because shes clueless]
If every time you go into the ladies handbag section of a department store you make sure the handbag you look at had a place for all those 'tracts' and a bible.
If you never went into the store called 'hot topic' or Victoria's secret
If every car you bought had to be 'good for service'

Magazine placements
by Awake at last inthis morning we opened our front door to find 5 magazines, 4 awakes and 1 watchtower left there.
someone must have been counselled about not placing enough literature.
we never heard them knock and we are not that deaf, at least we didn't think so.

where i live it was common practice to leave older magazines in the doors of not at homes.
but its also humorous to me now [though at the time i was annoyed] that one day when i was home i opened my door to let the dog out and there was a memorial invite in my screen door.
[lets review. I was home, I've lived there for 5 years, gone to that congregation for 5 yrs, and no one knocked or rang the door bell.]
no one knew i lived there because this area people at the kingdom halls are not friendly at all,
they dont knock if they can help it. when doing tract work, it takes too much time.
