DJS; you say,
[Anyone who allows someone else to do their thinking and has given up all analytical rigor, swallowing the tepid conformationally biased nonsense spewed by their leaders and relying on their feelings and beliefs for many years as do so many very religious people, is not using a vital muscle - their brain. It isn't any different than a couch potato. Unused muscles atrophy.]
now now, your on here with the rest of us ...
david and djs is your J w showing? lol
Now you cant deny the crafty ability of the wt orgs evil salesmen, give then part credit for the grand scheme they have going on. masters of deception. and so who else are masters of deception? lots of groups, from govt to corporations to science.
that my dear takes an amount of skill, good or bad.
IMO, people who are religious, might have one of two purposes , to be viewed as good, and worthy of ‘gifts’ from the lord. or to view themselves and better than thou. or 'special' lol.
depends on he upbringing.
the short answer is no.
because if you take time studying a religious belief system, and it occupies all of your time,
you have no other space left in the day , or the brain for other more beneficial subjects. -

searcher per your post ..3 days ago
km 2/00 p. 7 Question Box
Is it appropriate to applaud when a reinstatement is announced?
In his loving-kindness, Jehovah God has provided a Scriptural way for repentant wrongdoers to regain his favor and achieve reinstatement in the Christian congregation. (Ps. 51:12, 17)
Im wondering what vs 17 is supposed to mean..... to me its sickening.

Original Sin / Salvation without a literal Adam and Eve?
by Coded Logic insomething i've never understood is if adam and eve are just metaphorical where did "original sin" come from.
and, if there was no original sin, what is the value of jesus sacrifice?.
i know a lot of christians believe in evolution but i've never understood how such a belief is structured.

I have come to believe that the word sin simply was to mean 'not following the law of Israel'.
anyone who did not follow it was a 'sinner', that being everyone 'else', [all the 'dogs on the outside']
I don't think the word sin, or heaven, or paradise, or perfection, or even forever, were words that mean what we think they are supposed to mean.
mean? meant?

whats so bad about believing people go to heaven?
by sowhatnow init occurred to me today, that so often, my mother will make the comment that .
"those false religions teach that everyone is going to heaven when they die, oh sure, .
all you have to do is be a good person, and off you go to heaven.

natenate, I know that, my point was. how oddly 'offended' some JWs act when the idea is presented., like its some absolutely preposterous idea, even though there are plenty of scriptures to support that idea, as much as they do another idea.
I find it funny, what the hell difference does it make as long as it makes someone happy.lol

It occurred to me today, that so often, my mother will make the comment that
"those false religions teach that everyone is going to heaven when they die, oh sure,
all you have to do is be a good person, and off you go to heaven. and that's a lie'
[ lol, wow, its so bad being 'just a good person' ]
then she tries to quote a scripture, like, the earth was not made for nothing ,
and, it was made to be inhabited by righteous people forever. ect ect
her biggest fear is that if her religion is not true, she has no chance to live on a paradise earth. well, granted, that is not a pleasant thought.
But when I thought about it the idea, whats so bad about that belief of going to heaven, that JWs condemn it so?
I mean wouldn't the average person prefer to believe everyone goes there, and not just 144000 'special' people?
After all, that's where god is supposed to live, and since we are only human, we have no idea how good heaven can be., do we? how dare us say we want to live on earth forever, if paradise is in heaven and its a blessing to go there? lol.
so 2 Corinthians 12 vs 2 says this..
.I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago-- whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, God knows-- such a man was caught up to the third heaven.
and vs 4 says this
'was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak.'
now most people will do anything not to die, so the idea of heaven must not be that great, lol
so, what would you conclude....

An alternative to becoming ‘shit faced’...
Malachi 2:1-4: And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you. If you will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart to give glory to my name, ... behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces.biblical flasher warning...
exodus 20: 26 And do not go up to my altar on steps, or your private parts may be exposed.’TO BE OR NOT TO BE afraid,
20 Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.Moses did not have his face covered when he spoke to the Israelites ...or did he?
or was it only when he was talking?
But when Moses would go in before Jehovah to speak with him, he would take off the veil until he went out.+
when he came out....? was his face covered? no ... yes?
35. And the Israelites saw that the skin of Moses’ face emitted rays; then Moses put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with God.*+
ok, so he put the veil on as he passed through the door, im confused!and god was in the tent.... yes he was...
Leviticus 1 : 1 The Lord called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting....
and in case you were wondering what to do with all those un redeemed donkeys and firstborn sons...
ch 34 of exodus...
19 “Every firstborn male* is mine,+ including all your livestock, whether the first male bull or sheep.+ 20 The firstling of a donkey you are to redeem with a sheep. But if you do not redeem it, then you must break its neck. You are to redeem every firstborn of your sons.+ No one may appear before me empty-handed.where we get ideas for horror movies....
Leviticus 1;5 5 You are to slaughter the young bull before the Lord, and then Aaron’s sons the priests shall bring the blood and splash it against the sides of the altar at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 6 You are to skin the burnt offering and cut it into pieces. 7 The sons of Aaron the priest are to put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire. 8 Then Aaron’s sons the priests shall arrange the pieces, including the head and the fat, on the wood that is burning on the altar. 9 You are to wash the internal organs and the legs with water, and the priest is to burn all of it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord.and god loved to eat smoked bull...
The priest shall bring it to the altar, wring off the head and burn it on the altar; its blood shall be drained out on the side of the altar. 16 He is to remove the crop and the feathers[a] and throw them down east of the altar where the ashes are. 17 He shall tear it open by the wings, not dividing it completely, and then the priest shall burn it on the wood that is burning on the altar.
and just repetition for emphasis...
9 You are to wash the internal organs and the legs with water, and the priest is to burn all of it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord.
13 You are to wash the internal organs and the legs with water, and the priest is to bring all of them and burn them on the altar. It is a burnt offering, a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord.
[17] and then the priest shall burn it on the wood that is burning on the altar. It is a burnt offering, a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord. -

Do JW get counseled for buying a home?
by thedepressedsoul ini was curious, i couldn't find much on it.
if anything, there are a few articles that give advice on how to properly buy a home, mortgage, good location etc... .
do you know if the elders can counsel on this matter or remove privileges over it?
-
sowhatnow
not at all, I know many elders that had taken years and loads of time and money, to build a house, and lots of people from my past, had owned businesses, sold real estate, own rentals. often its cheaper to own than to rent depending on where you live. -

"Even if it isn't the truth, it's still the best way to live"
by Simon inhave you heard that old chestnut?
i have.. typically it's the last resort when you have dismantled a jws beliefs and they have no way of defending them.
they know they are beat so they come out with that one.. its effectively an admission that you are right and they have no argument but they are still going to attend meetings because they like the social club.. what a lame way to defend your faith..
-
sowhatnow
even if it isnt the truth? lol, so who would willingly follow untruth? ok, so then any way is a best way to live so long as it has 'some' truth to it.
gee, I wonder who said that first....

Computer Techies - Question
by ShirleyW inthis laptop of mine will be a month old this week, i don't even know how many help desk calls i've made for certain things, but today, as the same thing happened just two weeks ago they ran the cleaner and malwarebytes and lord know what else.
so every two weeks is this what i have to look forward with the new laptop?
i know they say to be careful of the sites you go to, which are the same sites i went to on the old nine year old laptopthat runs the almost outdated vista, never had to call in just about every other week for that one, btw, it's windows 10 and mostly use firefox on the new one..

poor you, lol, Id be ready to toss the thing at the salesperson who sold it to me.
This is why I got me a mac book. ran perfect right out of the box. easy, no virus, nothing changes, minimal updates. well, that might sadly change these days.
try finding someone who knows macs, lol, mine is 6 yrs old and running slow. I know not a soul that has a mac.
good luck, but if its only a month old and you have a warranty, or can exchange it, you might want to, sometimes they just screw up.
