  did any of you guys disregard the wt recommendations and pursue a career.

  Tho I have no advanced education , I always remember how my mom would react when she found out someone was 'a dentist, a teacher, a nurse, an accountant, ect. She would be so impressed, and say to me, oh, did you know, so n so is a [whatever] like they were some special breed of jw, lol, she was so impressed, and there were others like that Im sure, the mention the persons profession, in conversation, as if to brag,lol, but at the same time, there were those who would say, 'oh those who go to college, they fall out of the truth, so we dont recommend going to a 4 yr college, if you must, get a quick associates degree on line. Then there were those who spoke very negatively, saying things like, 'oh they think they are so special, well its nice they have money to send their kids to school'

  There is a lot of suggestion where I live, to go to a trade school. I recall a D. O. at a two day assembly, actually poked fun at people who went to college and took advertising, culinary arts, business management, and music, during his talk. like you were gay or something,lol I thought what an ass.
  

  Then Id find out somehow just how many people go at least for their associates, [must be in secret,lol] and Im surprised, because these people that would do that, you would never guess they were for it!
  

  So In a large way, there was a mixed message for me growing up , because though my mom acted like people with 'titles' were awesome, lol, at the same time if someone went to college and left shed call them weak and apostate,lol.

  this was in response to a discussion about the suffragette movement ( and the movie about it that's currently in cinemas).

  she seemed to think that it would be so much better if women were just daughters/ wives/ mothers and didn't go out to work and have career's?

  lisarose, Im going to throw out a thought as to why I think females have less advantages in many societies than men, [What is the real source of female inequality in the world?]
  

  religion and pride. religion teaches that men are the authority figure, particularly in the middle east, where cultures are still heavily influenced by religion and tradition. Also, since factually most women are weaker in a physical way than men, men therefore are usually, in most cultures, hunters or the builders. so the 'logic' that follows is that is that men rule. However we all know of examples in the bible where women heavily influenced a leader to do something. [kill john he baptist for example]
  

  the thing is when men and women stop viewing each other as unequal humans, and embrace the assets of each one, perhaps atrocities like torturous female circumcision or tossing acid in the face of a female accused of something she did against a mans rule, this will go away. that's so stupid, what some of these backward cultures do to women, without women there are no humans,lol you would think they would adore women and their ability to recreate. those stupid guys dont even know how to have good sex, they ruin their sex toys,lol
  

  im surprised by now there hasnt been an all out riot/civil war, from women in the middle east ,lol Id say a good chance isis would be put out of power if all the women would gather together and form a group, and revolt. stupid women joining them instead of infiltrating them and one by one eliminating the creeps.

  Changes and why

  so far these are all the recent changes i know of, please add more if i have missed anything.. 1. all construction projects have either been stopped or reduced.. 2. all bethels are downsizing by at least 20% within one year of the announcement, and almost certainly more in years to come.. 3. remaining belelites will have to make their own food, do their own washing and cleaning.. no more laundry department, no more kitchen and waiters, no more housekeeping!.

  and you still only get 80 per month, but no rent or bills, and food will be provided in the family fridge but you have to prepare it yourself.. as to why, it has been said several times officially its not because of a lack of funds, but how could that possibly be the truth?.

  So, what does a person DO up at any of those places ? if I remember correctly, there was an announcement made years ago that they were not taking any more applications for persons to go to bethel, so who goes and why if all funding for projects are being cut? for all that matter they never needed printing facilities, they could have paid a company to print stuff up for crying out loud and never built a factory for printing. Ive always been confused by all that whole purpose of that big complex in new york and wallkill

  well, maybe having controlling mothers, or being a mamas boy, can be a problem, lol, maybe but then we have the old saying behind every successful man is a woman, lol well, women are the ones who carry the children, so maybe there was a little issue there one time...
  

  Thing is, society is changing, and traditional beliefs are being challenged, and many of us are having a difficult time coping with how to survive with so much change, on top of the world economic situation that just adds to any families value system. Now even men view men who are stay at home fathers in a negative light.

  its really all about who we can love for what they can do, not what society says they should do.

  It's OK to be an Apostate ... but only if you're on the Governing Body

  look at the governing body.

  none of them believe now what the wts believed back when they were born and later baptized.. so why aren't they disfellowshipped for apostasy?.

  simple - because the true beliefs are always taken to mean whatever they currently consider them to be.. think about it - they can never be apostates because whatever they decide to believe becomes "the truth" and anyone not believing it is then guilty of apostasy, even if they believe things the wts has taught them all their lives.. if you do believe in the bible and jesus story, do you think this is what he intended?

  they may be more apostate than anyone considering, they 'spread' the new ideas, and want followers to believe what they say,
  

  whereas most x jw's just leave, present no 'teachings' , dont want people to follow after them, and just want to have a lively discussion sometimes about thoughts on scripture.
  

  An original biblical apostate, I thought, was only one who left Israel? or the mosaic law? whatever it meant at that time, does not app;y to JWs at all. imo.

  even the protein structures can be studied using high resolution mass spectrometry.

  this will allow researchers to study the evolution of proteins.

  call me what you will, but, a million is a lot, and 80 million , hmm, I dont know how anything can last that long, preserved or not, especially organic matter. I honestly cant figure out how the earth itself can be that old. seems to me it will gradually change and someday be uninhabitable.
  

  I think for some reason, the time is off. its been proven before, in digs, that they were wrong on the time. carbon dating is viewed by some scientists, as sometimes flawed.
  

  but still, its amazing, and maybe a wee bit scary, we dont need a real Jurassic park, lol

  well, DJS, I agree with everything you say.

  however,you have to admit, what is 'presented' at dating, will change anyway, life changes, you gotta roll with the change.
  

  and for your last paragraph ,your, 'wish list' you'll be lucky to get half.
  

  So basically, you just want to date? if you do, well join the other thousands of single and still searching men on dating sites. I see that all the time,its been over a year that Ive been quietly browsing some of those sites, and its the same people in their profiles.. 'dating nothing serious' really? wtf? go to a bar or stand on a street corner then. um, thats why they are STILL on the dating sites.

  this from men in their 50 yet! lol , who do they think they are ,new college grads with buff bodies? lol they cant be that picky. 'average' means a few extra pounds these days.
  

  oh and this one, 'want independent women with her own 'career' and friends'
  

  wow, so that leaves out an awful lot of women. you know, the pool gets smaller the older we get.

  I for one would like to have someone next to me in the rocking chair on the porch sipping tea when Im 80. but I dont have to have a piece of paper bonding me to someones 'wealth' .
  

  love and trust goes beyond fear of someone walking out on them and leaving them for something petty.
  

  Id tend to think women wouldn't want a man who thinks they are 'dispensable' . they can walk when you loose your job or have to stop working due to health issues. so there is. no commitment, no real love.

  Id not want my man to feel that way, that he might be temporary, until I tire of him.

  I don't know how old you are DJS or how much time you have , but the older we get the harder it is to find someone willing to be a permanent part of your life , getting older presents new challenges, like failing health, one that each person has to accept as a responsibility. you really have to love someone to be helping them out sometimes.
  

  let me enlighten you to something, many many women who 'put weight on when they get into a relationship, is because they take birth control pills. [what else puts huge amounts of weight on people, almost immediately, in case all readers aren't already aware, is anti depressants and a host of other prescription drugs that mess your hormones and thyroid all up].
  

  Ive seen it a thousand times. or, they have babies, and what happens is, they have huge hormonal changes, have their 'abs' permanently rearranged, and its not always about eating. you think women enjoy loosing a girlish figure? not a chance.
  

  so what is the excuse for all the 40 plus something men, who dont give birth, who I see with bellies spilling out over their belts? beer? pizza, finally reaching the top tier of their employment opportunities and being in a desk job? oh wait, relaxed muscle. lol
  

  and sometimes its just age related.
  

  for now at least Im thin, but woe is me if I get terribly sick, Ill waste away pretty fast with no fat stores,lol

  I hear ya.

  a mom and wife, who works outside of the home, now, they work double time. I could never do that. I just dont know how they have the energy.
