Jehovah's Witnesses taught me how to have a personal relationship with Jehovah and Jesus.
That's simply a fabricated statement.
Nobody can prove or show any evidence of a relationship with any non-human entities.
The reality is the Governing Body taught you to believe they are "Jehovah". Imperfect men. Liars. Sinners. Greedy.
Plus, shunning is hateful.
You, along with with all of us, have been deceived.
my initial pangs of unease and doubt led me to research some things.
well, a lot of things really.
i've never felt comfortable using the bible to try to calculate dates (1914).
I experienced daily nausea for nearly two years. Lost 85 pounds, too.
It gets better.
I'm in better shape, as a positive side effect.
in a discussion about the best flavour of ice cream everybody's opinion is equally valid.. in a discussion about the shape of the earth or the origin of species everybody's opinion is equally irrelevant.
only objective facts and evidence matter.. confusing these two categories is a common feature of conversations in this forum.
people deserve respect, errors do not..

What's the farthest one can see with a telescope at sea level? ( in miles. Before the curvature obstructs one's view? )

I work as little as possible.
Self employed and semi-retired.
I worked 10 hours this week. 10-15 gets me by just fine.
I take time off as often as possible.

bringing together all of the stories they told thus far and placing them int he "new world" complete with the little boy who was killed in a car accident coming back from the dead.. i have a good friend who is stuck in with family and plays the role.
he said everyone was crying, and the people next to him rated the videos by how many tissues they needed to dry their eyes.
I find it cruel that the faithful are being lead along blindly hoping for their paradise all the while giving up a lifetime of hopes and dreams.
Also, I noted the obvious respect for proper fitting pants in the video.
What was up with the bearded guy?
it looks like i'm going to have to take the watchtower study for a while so i thought i'd seek help.. i wont be outing myself or stating anything too controversial, but so far i have come up with the following tactics : 1) ask questions which will get people thinking even if it is about something insignificant - developing a questioning mind is the key to discovering ttat as far as i am concerned.
2) highlight any extreme points so that some might realise they are extreme.
3) highlight any good points - helping others in need for example - just because it is the right thing to do.. if anyone has any general comments which could help, please post them here.
During the part on beards, make sure to hold up a large picture of CT Russel...

after breakfast we drove by the convention site.
Sadly, the conventions are 'for profit' ventures to support the WTBTS.
They will continue until they no longer make money hosting them.

to those of you who were secrely smoking while being a jw how did your cover get blown?
do you have any funny stories to share even if at that time they may not have been funny at all due to impending consequences.
I started smoking after exiting JWs.
Before being DF'd, two 'appointed' men were out riding their bikes when I came to a stop sign. They looked at me and said my name.
I blew smoke out the window and drove away.
Good times...
i used to be a member of this site, but jumped off a good number of years ago (08?).
i don't have access to my old email, so i'm using a new account.. anyway, i was baptized jw in late 90's.
da'd mid 2000s.. when i left there were three meets a week plus field service.
No one knows what they believe or how to explain the doctrines from the bible.
