My own daughter has much suffered; she will get justice in due time.
by TheFadingAlbatros injust learned today direct from my beloved daughter that she has been abused between 5 and 12 years old by 2 brothers (her own cousins) and 1 family "friend".
she has attempted suicide a few days ago.
luckily she is living and she is not physically injured.

Joined up August this year, lurked for 3 or 4 months prior to this.
I'll be forever grateful to so many of you who've helped me and my wife on our way!
With another little one on the way any day now, i'm relieved to think my children will be able to grow up without the restraints and restrictions that so many of us have had to deal with growing up.

Arguably the best debunker on YouTube
by Terry inthis fellow's channel is called watchtower examination.. he is clear, reasonable, thoughtful--but best of all--his teaching method with visuals is perfection!.

Totally agree with you Terry his way of tackling their laughable doctrines is great!
Reading the posts below is equally as interesting. There's a JW apologist who seems to have taken a liking to his videos in particular and seems very keen to debunk the arguements he brings to the table. In turn there are a number of born-again Christians who like to do the same with his debunking of the video.
As much as it makes for interesting reading I find it simply reinforces my current view (somewhat agnostic) that either the Bible is nothing more than a book of fiction or that God takes real pleasure in confusing his creation and watching them squabble over irrelevant, nonsensicle gibberish.

Working on a Sunday morning!
by lurkernomore init's coming up to 4 months since our last meeting.
apart from three visits to the house in the first 4 weeks we've not heard a peep from anyone, except for two 'encouraging' cards from two older ladies in the local hall.. a couple self-righteous, not even exemplary witnesses, have taken it upon themselves to pre-emptively shun me on a couple occasions, which i found rather funny.. anyway my grandad needed some minor building work doing to the front of the house, which my brother and i happily agreed to do for him.
his house is on a main road running up the hill to the kingdom hall.

I took this opportunity to make an early start and happily ignore everyone driving past :D

You will have to make provision for slight spelling differences between American posters and British posters Terry, as we tend to use the 'correct' spelling of 's' instead of 'z' in a lot of words, such as the previously mentioned baptise ;)

I noticed that too WMF. There were a few places where i thought wtf, is this a translated document or something?! As you go on though you'll see the transcriptor is using shorthand to document the discussion so i guess that's what's caused some of the obscure nonsensicle sentence structures.

Monotheists my ass!!!
by Crazyguy inwe have been taught that the hebrews were monotheists believing and worshiping in only one god, except for those times when they sinned and worship pagan idol gods.
their one true god is yahweh / jehovah.
comparing the book of genesis with older sumerian and babylonian writings what do we find?
-
lurkernomore
I only heard about the Sumerians fairly recently whilst perusing a plethora of different youtube videos one evening. I felt this was one of the biggest eye openers for me with regards to the so called 'inspired writings'. This was the first thing that made me feel that perhaps I'm more comfortable in the agnostic camp, unless of course someone or something can prove things otherwise.
Thanks for the info Crazyguy very interesting!

Welcome Red! Good to have you with us. It just goes to show that apart from the thousands of people who've signed up to JWN there are a large number of lurkers who for different reasons don't comment, at least until they find something that really strikes a chord with them.
Fantastic observation btw. Very interesting.
