A must to be MS?
by crazyhorse inso is it a must and an absolute requirement to be a ministerial servant in the org?.
i was told that if i refuse an appointment as an ms then it means i'm opposing "jehovah's call to service".

Predicting online bible studies, email answers, donations, etc coming soon!
by EndofMysteries ini'm sure real soon they'll have video chat online bible studies, email questions and answers, etc.
right now their website still has 'write a letter' option going on.
how many will get in on the online bible studies and emails and ask some probing questions, ttatt stuff?

LOL haha that chariot stuff is really crazy. I find it pathetic that many JWs buy into this crap and mere fantasy and wishful thinking. People really do like believing in mystic things

Please help....in a dilemma..
by crazyhorse inplease help with this: when i was in college, there was a lot of talk about university and how all who pursue that are wasting their time and all that.
even before going to uni, there was a lot of pressurr on me concerning my decision.
during that time, two elders sat with me for appointment as ms and asked me if i have freedom of speech in the org since i'm going to uni and i said no.

I'm starting work early next month but I have to work for some time before I can be financially and wholly independent.
No, I won't be kicked out if I stop going to meetings but it wil cause a lot of distress in my family. I don't want to be a cause of such great disruption of peace.

Should some people actually be Witnesses?
by Apognophos init seems to me like certain people actually benefit from joining the religion.
primarily i'm thinking of ones with drug problems who are only able to quit because they are working towards baptism.
another example would be those who are always getting in fights or who have a big ego, and who learn to be pacifistic and humble as a witness.

Yes in my opinion, the JWs attract them because of the moral discipline( which is not unique to JWs; and its even a facade among JWs) . So it boils down to the person. If the person feels he needs such a structure and can deal with 8 men controlling and claimingn they are the only channel of communication from God, then its good for him. I know very good and sincere people in the WT who even though I'm sure do not know TTATT, do not submit to the control of the org and worship God in christian freedom.

Paris, appreciate your help but I can't just do all you're suggesting to me. That's because independence isn't regarded so highly in my country. Even though my family is quite liberal and educated, because of out strong history in the org "that truth" binds us in some way together. "Going astray" from the norm is going to bring a lot of pressure. When the time is due, I'll have my own place and lice on my own; maybe even live on another country.
Haha Rebel8 that's funny. I've thought on things on that line.
Yes, I just read CoC. Wow such an eye opener. Most witnesses are left in the dark and are ultimately controlled like puppets. Ray is a true embodiment of christian love. And then when I want to express my freewill and christian freedom, I'm pressured not to. One of my greatest source of the dilemma is seeing my parents unhappy and distraught because I choose not to be a MS or even leave the org.
Anyway thanks evveryone

Hmm..thanks for your support. This is a great pressure because my Cong was mostly setup by my grandfather so the Cong is made up of many family members and they all know I'm a good boy. To add it all, my siblings and parents want me to be an MS. I don't know if you can all feel my pressure. But I have made the decision to decline. Its going to be very hard. One of my uncles will be part of the elders meeting me. Everyone knows how very responsible I am in my duties( still after learning TTATT).

I still go to the meetings because I live with my family and I am not independent. I haven't started work full time to be able to live on my own. (I'm in Africa and its not like in America where you can live on your own that easily)

Have You Ever Rejected Being Appointed an Elder/MS Before the Announcement?
by GermanXJW inwhen i was a jw several brothers (ms) told me in private that the elders had asked them several times if they did not want to become an elder.
they said they rejected because it was too much responsibility for them.
were you ever approached that the boe wanted to make you an elder but you refused?

Great thread. This is what's happening to me now. I have refused MS appointment but they want to tell me there's no reason to refuse and that refusing means opposition to God's call.
