<-------------------The beautiful Theda Bara, star of stage and screen long before most of us walked this earth. I cycle through several pics of Theda. I guess the simplest explanation is that she's the person I'd love to look like (and sometimes do, if only in my mind). In an era of sweet, virginal actresses, Theda was a sexy vixen who busted up all the rules- again, someone I'd love to be like. Unfortunately, I'm actually a dead ringer for Pola Negri instead. Oh well, at least my honey thinks I'm cute.

Sassy, darlin...
I know I haven't been around here much lately, so I'm a little out of touch with day-to-day stuff that's been taking place. But I want you to know that you're not invisible, chica. I'm bad about keeping in touch these days (on purpose- I'll be back on this site more when I'm able to be better company to my homies here) but I do think of you often, and you're in my thoughts and prayers daily. It's going to get better, I promise you.

If You See A JW or An Elder, Do You Try To Avoid Them?
by minimus inwhen i was in a drugstore a couple of months ago, i saw the presiding overseer in the other aisle with his wife.
i saw them and made a conscious decision to leave.
what would you have done in a similar situation??

I generally make eye contact, give them a little smile. If they don't run away, I say hi, have a little chat. I try never to act hostile or threatening, but I am also very honest with them. When they ask me about my life, I confirm that I have a worldly boyfriend, that I own a store where I sell ciggies and lottery tix, that I organize charity fundraisers. Very few have recoiled in rage and horror. However,a handful of them have begun to see me as a confidante, someone non-judgmental to confide in. Apparently, LOTS of my former brothers and sisters are having doubts and feel like leaving the "truth". It's my reponsibility to set an example and show them we don't shrivel up and die outside the organization.
Edited to add- Nina, you rock. You're my hero! I'm so glad you didn't let them off the hook.

by Terry ini think i might (if it is possible) be.......slightly...inclined toward foot fetishism....but only slightly.
but, i find that i look at attractive feet and find them esthetically pleasing.
and......slightly (only slightly) exciting.. i have no idea what this means.

"Something I Can Never Have" by NIN. It's not at all catchy, but it's hard to stop hearing that minimalist piano bit playing in my head, and Trent R. singing "Grey would be the color, if I had a heart" in that voice that sounds like he's been crying his heart out all night.
Another song that sticks with me a lot is "Jump, Jive and Wail," originally sung by Louie Prima, but admirably covered by the Brian Setzer Orchestra on a live album of theirs I recently got.

My pet Bunny Died
by liquidsky inmy pet bunny "hoshi" died on sunday.
she got a bacterial infection, and we did everything to save her.
spent the night in the animal emergency room but they couldn't do much for her.

liquidsky- Gosh, I'm sorry about your bunny. I know what you mean, as I've gotten quite attached to my little animal buddies, too. It's so hard to have to say goodbye to them. You can feel good, though, about the fact that you did what you could, gave her every chance possible, and when she couldn't beat the infection, you saw to it that she had a peaceful end to her pain. Hang in there; I'll be thinking of you.

Dave, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know firsthand how much it hurts to have to say goodbye to someone you love. As I recall, my grandmother's funeral was sad, confusing (not all in English) and full of people I didn't know well.
I agree with Double Edge, that you can have a remembrance for your grandmother all on your own, and it can actually be a lot more meaningful. Then maybe later on, you can head out to Florida to visit her gravesite and leave her some flowers, it needn't be on the day of her funeral. I'll be thinking of you.

It's been one hell of a day : (
by calamityjane intoday started off good, it's mother's day, i get breakfast in bed.
then i'm outside doing what i want to do, getting our trailer ready for camping season.. what i thought my hubby (xjw_b12) was doing in the meantime was wishing his mom a happy mother's day, but he came out of the house and was a little on the off side.
instead of what i thought was he was doing and calling his mom, he caught a call from his mom instead, advising us that his uncle passed away on friday, by taking his own life.

Calamity- I'm so sorry; it's so sad that, at times when we need the most compassion and love, people can be so uncaring. I will be thinking of you and your family, and sending positive thoughts your way.

Bryan, I didn't get to see the show. But I'll keep an eye out, in case they re-run it. I think it's mighty cool that you got that part; congratulations!
