Just a quick reminder to all participants, if you haven't posted some sort of wish list, it'll be sort of difficult to buy you a present. My fallback gift this year, in case I don't know what else to get a person, is a gift basket of liquor and pornography. So far, I've got that for my mom, my great-aunt who's a nun, and my good friend who's a born-again Christian. I think it'll make for a more interesting holiday.

Any New Englanders remember Needham's? I got one at a package store a few weeks ago, took it home and ate it. I thought it tasted funny, but then again, it is basically chocolate covered potatoes and coconut...
Later found out the company went out of business like two years ago. That was a seriously stale Needham, I guess.

"Dagoba" brand chocolate rocks the mofo house. Expensive, but when you taste it, you will know where that money went. I find it in health food stores sometimes.

Thanks for all the great tips!
This will be a very special Christmas/Yule for me- honey-bunny and I will be decorating together, as a couple, for the first time, and this'll be only my third year of celebrating the holiday. So, we're going to shop for a pretty, artificial tree together, and more ornaments. Last year and the year before, I just decorated large houseplants, so I didn't need to have so many ornaments...Maybe we can make some ourselves.
OK, now I'm all excited and feeling festive!

Well, I for one get a strange thrill out of telling people about that aspect of my past. It has so much to do with how people react to the news: "No way, really? You? Hard to believe!" is pretty gratifying to hear. I like to think that I've come a long way since those dark days, that I'm a much saner, more normal person now, and it feels good to get another person's affirmation of that.
And admit it- when conversation lags, "I'm a former cult member," delivered in a nonchalant tone of voice, is a pretty badass way to perk things up.

Recent Changes In Me...
by FMZ ini seem to have been asked a lot lately why i have changed so much since the dallas apostafest.
i agree i have been through some changes lately, quite major ones even.. i am still not completely sure when exactly i changed, whether it was in texas, before the fest, or after the fest, but i am certainly glad my changes show to all you beautiful people.
i guess changing the very foundation of my life itself does have an impact on the exterior .

Here's something I'd like to add to this discussion:
FMZ, you absolutely rock, man. I always know that when I read your posts, I'm going to walk away with a smile on my face- sometimes a big old silly grin, other times a bemused little smile of introspection. It's all good.

Stilla and Mouthy- well, don't feel too bad- the only time defd spoke to me was to tell me to pray to his god for forgiveness. I'm still unsure of what sin I've supposedly committed, as defd never bothered to reply to me when I asked him. Ahhh, ya gotta love that warm, loving Christian attitude of his!

Hi, all! I don't have internet access at present, so I've not been around here much lately. Did I miss anything? For those of you who've been sick with worry at my absence (giggle,) I'm doing alright. I think of you all, and wonder how the Dallas apostafest went. I was supposed to have gone, but time and unforeseen circumstance befall...well, you know. My health is sort of holding steady for now- I can breathe ok, but I won't be running any marathons in the near future. I am taking my vitamins and trying to keep out of the damp weather as much as I can.
My gay-friendly store was recently targeted (again) by an organization that is opposed to gay marriage and anti-discrimination laws. Nothing serious, they just did some petty vandalism, easily cleaned up; I made sure to let the police know about it. Also, I believe there's a ghost or something in my building, who has been making her presence known in various benign ways. I get the sense that she likes me and doesn't mind me being there, so it's all good. Other than that, nothing exciting to report.
I talked to Country Girl a week or two ago; she's still her lovable, cantankerous, wunnerful self. For those of you who've been sick with worry at her absence, rest assured, the Girl is well. That's all for now- will keep you posted as I am able to get to a computer. Big wet sloppy kisses to all!

About me: I collect ceramic skulls and skeletons (I know that's wierd,) read tons of books (especially historical fiction or non-fiction,) love to discover new music, don't smoke but do enjoy an occasional cocktail, love to cook bizarre, experimental dishes when I have the time, enjoy learning about places I haven't been to yet.
How about some little souvenir from where you live, like some photos, or a tape of some local music you like? I love every kind of music in the world except for country and western.
