For those who were raised in "the truth"
by Hangin_on inhow many of you always felt like you would be killed at armageddon no matter what you did... it was never enough and your parents put a guilt trip on you?

Ditto what Outlaw said. As I grew older, all of those little things I didn't do (go out that one saturday, skip a meeting, try to ask a girl out) were all weighing on me as things that might just end it for me.

Why I Came Back
by Badger init's been a long, long time since i've posted on any of the boards.
partially, i had gotten out and busy.
this board was indispensable and helped me leave the organization with a lot of confidence in what i was doing.. but, it's not all completely over.

It's been a long, long time since I've posted on any of the boards. Partially, I had gotten out and busy. This board was indispensable and helped me leave the organization with a lot of confidence in what I was doing.
But, it's not all completely over. I still have a son with a JW ex-wife. She's trying to keep him in, and I'm trying to let him see that "worldly" is not a bad thing, your hopes, dreams and plans for yourself are yours and not up to anyone else's editing, and that there are literally billions of different ways of looking at life.
So, as long as I have to deal with witnesses affecting my family, I'll be here. I'm hoping the same info I've gotten over the years will help me as I raise my son slowly into a confident, limitless adulthood. Thanks, and good to see you all again.

Vote for the "most obscure one" on JWD :)
by onacruse innow, this is just for the fun of having a little "roast", eh?

I would say Leo is obscure because I can't get enough of her.
Also, Aztec, because she doesn't post anymore. But I get to see her everynight, so I can't complain.

Should I wait to be questioned by the elders? or take my leave in advance?
by Thinking of Leaving inhi everyone, i recently joined this forum as i'm close to being df.
i am suppose to meet with a judical committee soon but was thinking that i don't want to go through those personal questions that i'm sure the elders would ask.
does anyone know, is it better to just tell the elders before, say like on the phone, that i want to be df and not go through the committee?

ToL:
I stopped going 3 1/2 years ago. I haven't heard a word from them, even though by all rights I should be DF'd
They'll drop you like a hot rock, but you'll be better for it.

who has been the select group throughout history?
by searching99 ini have a question that i'm curious to have feedback on.
if jehovah has always had a group of people that were "his select group" to have his messages relayed, who were these people/relgions between the time of the early christians of bibilical times and the founding of the bible students?

That's just it...there wasn't one, and it was on an individual basis!
The society keeps pointing out how the Anabaptists, Pilgrims, Heugenots, Calvin and the like were all move to keep the word alive, even though they got a few of the things wrong. It displays (at least to me) that you don't need a monolithic organization leading you by the nose in your relationship with God.

Did Bethel play music or the radio in the factory to alleivate boredom?
by truthseeker injust curious for all those bethelites who worked in the factory at bethel - did you have the radio playing or were you allowed to listen to your own music?.
i'm trying to imagine what it must be like working in the bindery with no music during 8 hour days.. or did you work in step with jehovah's orgainzation to the kingdom melodies?.

You're assuming that the GB thinks that boredom is something that needs to be alleivated.
I temped there for a year one month and, no, no music.
