Well, actually any supposed “increase” is primarily just the result of the birthrate of born-ins. The WTS is known for its “clever” manipulation of statistics, and they don’t exactly advertise the throngs either slipping out the back door (fading) or parading right out the front door (disassociating). Don’t forget: only 36% of born-ins remain in the cult. (Gee, I wonder why. )

“Iown Mylife”: “Just be really nice to people and visit them and show interest in their life stories, then they will feel obligated to go along with what you want, which is to give money, and find other people to give money, to the org which claims to represent the Creator of the Universe.”

In relation to any standard business model, this would be called a “pyramid scheme,” which is understandably an illegal form of exploitation. However, unfortunately, as it is classified as a “religion,” thus enjoying the protection of “ecclesiastical privilege” under the secular laws, including tax-free status, it can effectively get away with what amounts to a global pyramid scheme. And they don’t even have to pay their workers any salary. With that and the power they have to threaten and execute disfellowshippings, I’d say that they have a pretty good thing going. . . . at least while operating in such a tolerant capitalist system – and they milk it for all it’s worth!

How Do You Answer Someone Who Says JWs Are Not False Prophets?

it used to bother me that people would say that about my well meaning religion.

how do you prove that witnesses are indeed, false prophets?.

Actually, the famous book The Gentile Times Reconsidered, by Carl Olof Jonsson, completely, thoroughly, and absolutely destroys the WTS’ 607 BCE / 1914 CE crap! I know; I’ve read it. It’s very definitive.

“tim hooper”: “The March 1970 KM reported on how well publishers were doing in dropping unproductive bible students so that others could "benefit" from receiving a Bible study in the short time remaining.”

And, of course, what little blue book did the WTS produce en masse throughout the 1970s apparently to facilitate that “six-month home Bible-study program”? You guessed it: The Truth that Leads to Everlasting Life (originally published in 1968). But the interesting thing about that book – as well as all the other books all along – is that it has been outdated/superseded by a whole dazzling techno laser beam show of “new light.” That’s right – all those countless tons and tons of books produced (and trees wasted) are effectively nothing more than cheap kindling for your fireplace! Now, if that doesn’t say “false prophets,” then I don’t know what does.

“The Searcher”: “Christians are witnesses for God? Not in my Bible!!”

Well, what about the scripture which says that all true Christians are to be witnesses of Jehovah in association with his spirit-directed organization? What about that? It’s found at . . . umm, . . . well, it’s at . . . ummmm, . . . . . . . . okay, that particular scripture is at . . . it’s in the book of . . . well, its at . . . . . . . . oh, damn it, I can’t find it anywhere in the Bible at all! Okay, I guess it’s not in there. [big surprise!]

“pcop”: “Remove the "emotional" element from it all and recognize that "the truth" is not human and it is not of human origin. The truth is not within any religious organization on earth because neither God or Christ established any religion on earth. Men did this on their own accord.”

And the trophy goes to: “pcop”! That is the most logical thing I’ve heard this week, for sure. Thumbs up!

Well, as long as that purple-wearing choreographer guy in that clip of the song “Keep It Gay” in that movie The Producers doesn’t go out jogging in that spandex. That’s what Anthony Morris III has a big beef (no pun intended) about. Although, that Morris idiot/prick doesn’t realize that that is what it’s for! (Jogging/exercising.)

Attracting young ones to the org

noticing a lot of posts and behaviours of the org that they seem to be trying to appeal to the younger generation.

im wondering if they are jumping on the back of a popular young clothing brand called jack wills.. a lot of their clothes have jw logo on them.

i wonder when searching this logo 'jw' on internet, where the search takes them?....................hmmmmmm!.

The tightest pants seem to be worn by professional ballet performers, male and female. (Not that I myself am into ballet, nor do I have anything against those who do, just in case anyone is wondering.) There was even a scene from the 1984 comedy movie called Top Secret!, where some male ballet dancers were lined up in a row and someone was walking along their bulging male packages. It was exaggerated, as it was of course a parody, but it served to illustrate just how tight and blatantly revealing the pants are which are worn in ballet performances. New requirement to become an Elder or Ministerial Servant!

it has been a few months since i hear this from an elder.

he said that the c/o told them this new requirement.. "men that wanna be an elder or ministerial servant has to go out to field service on sundays.

if there is an elder or ministerial servant that is not going out to field service on sunday can lose the priviledge".

The only thing that comes to my mind is that the WTS policy recommends that elders and ministerial servants get at least around ten hours field service each month, but there is absolutely no written stipulation I have ever seen regarding Sundays, or any other days of the week. In other words, all they care about is elders and ministerial servants getting a recommended “healthy” number of hours, but I don’t think anyone really gives a sh^t what days of the week it is. There has to be somebody made available to take the service groups, including Sundays, whomever that may be on the assigned rotation. But, of course, it bodes well for anyone to be seen by the top brass in the congregation whenever they do go out in service, because, after all, that is what it’s really all about (i.e., a human organization made up of men).

i've been a lurker for quite some time and enjoy the forum.

i've reached a point in life where i don't argue ideologies anymore so i don't have much to say.

i've been out for decades and believe i've been mostly de-cultabilized (if that's even a word).. my family is still in and i haven't had contact with them in years.

Welcome, “TheMark,” to the JW discussion board! It’s the best of its kind, for sure. (I’m sure the head guy, Simon, would heartily agree.) It’s always encouraging and satisfying to see more and more people streaming to – I mean, FROM – the WT (the “mountain of Jehovah,” as they see arrogantly themselves). I see you’ve been lurking here for close to eight months already. That’s certainly enough time to get quite an eye-opening education in the real truth – that is, the truth about the truth (“TTATT”).

The classic, must-read books for us folks at the beginning of our awakenings are Raymond Franz’s Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom. (Absolutely superb!) Another good classic is M. James Penton’s book, Apocalypse Delayed. A most poignant one which is extremely well researched and absolutely, completely blows to nothing the WT’s 607 BCE / 1914 CE nonsense is Carl Olof Jonsson’s The Gentile Times Reconsidered. I’ve read all those books, and I couldn’t imagine anyone with half the number of neurons of a housefly still believing in that WT governing body after reading any one of them.

We need to keep exchanging mutual support through forums such as this, because the cult indoctrination persists on a deep subconscious level for many years even after one has left the WT organization. I find that the fear, anxiety, and shame doesn’t just go away overnight – especially for someone like myself, who was born into a strongly JW family in 1966.

I’m looking forward to seeing your posts, and we would all be interested to know just what made you wake up and realize that the WT teachings just don’t add up. Take care.

This is sickening, for sure: Here is an actual copied and pasted email I received from a friend of mine since grade seven senior public school – we’re 48 years old now – regarding the Montréal Gazette newspaper article about Anthony Morris III’s tirade against spandex pants [WARNING: Get a puke bucket ready]:

“You seem to have missed the point. Trying to look as close to the worlds fashion as possible, is the danger. Why do you think Jehovah had his people use a fringe with blue thread. Despite what people say and would like to believe you can not simple say and do what you want. Jehovah's standards are higher than ours. We are surrounded by a world so messed up because they feel their individual standards are just fine.”

Now, I should let you know that this person has always purported to be a fine Jehovah’s Witness – BUT, you all should know that this is the one and the same guy whose photograph was actually on the front page of the local community newspaper shown holding a bullhorn leading a high school student protest; was in a tent drunk and f^cking some bimbo WHILE HE WAS DATING HIS FIRST WIFE; was dancing like Madonna to her song “Like A Virgin” at a CC’s restaurant so disgustingly that my best friend Charlie was overwhelmed with embarrassment . . . . Now, THAT is the same “superstar JW” who sent me the above email reply. What a f^ck’n hypocrite!
