It really seems to be a case of “selective inspiration,” in that, just like “selective hearing,” it is a matter of subjective convenience.

The GB’s “connection” to the holy spirit is kind of like a semiconductor microchip in that the circuits on the silicon wafer can be conductors or non-conductors of current depending on its chemical properties using a method called “doping.” In the same way, the GB can be inspired or non-inspired – conductors of the holy spirit or not – by another method of “doping” – that is, using a bunch of dopes to comprise a GB which selectively purports to be inspired whenever it is convenient! (I.e., “inspired” whenever they seem to be believable, and then just imperfect and non-inspired when otherwise – which is really by far most of the time.)

Good point, smiddy! Myself, I am actually still living with my folks, even though I am 51 years of age. (Long story.) And I am one of those born-in/stuck-in people who are in effect forced to nominally remain in the JWs (at least by outward appearances) for the sake of my family; HOWEVER, even though I can’t fully vote with my feet, I have been voting with my pocketbook ever since I’ve internally “woken up” in that I I’ve been contributing exactly ZERO dollars and ZERO cents to the JW cult organization.

In fact, every time there is any kind of part in a meeting or assembly regarding contributions, I serruptitiously raise my naughty F finger just for an instant while silently saying to myself, “Here you go. There’s your contribution, buddy!” reiterating the exact ZERO total contributions they will ever get from me!

I tell myself: I will never contribute one cent to an organization that actually kills (murders!) many thousands of men, women, and children due to their ridiculous blood policy, and that cruelly breaks up an untold number of families over the strict fundamentalist disfellowshipping (shunning) policy, etc., etc.

No sir. ZERO it is from my pocketbook. And when my mom asks me if and what I contributed at an assembly, I just tell her that “it’s my own business” (which it is) and leave it at that.

All medical doctors take the famous Hippocratic Oath, which requires them to uphold specific ethical standards. But if any doctor, or nurse, is unwilling to adhere to those standards, then, well, why bother?

Medical practice is supposed to, um, save lives. But if the medical profession ends up having to kowtow to the parochial mandates of extreme fundamentalist cults such as the Watch Tower, then all the efficacy of the accumulated scientific knowledge goes right out the window.

But in our modern enlightened and civilized society, such purely superstitious behaviour – as apparently interpreted by certain self-serving pseudo-religious outfits – really has no place, and should be discarded along with all other such relics of pre-homo-sapient society.

Those JWs in Russia are really caught between a rock and a hard place.

On the one hand, they are being oppressed by that little shit, Vladimir Putin, in their arbitrary, high-handed campaign against any kind of religious belief outside of their precious Russian Orthodox Church (big puke!); BUT, on the other hand, they are still being pressured by their “mother organization” to perpetuate their own brand of parochial, Machiavellian, dark ages form of fundamental religious adherence.

Yikes! Russia is still not a very good place to be a JW!
