Hello All!
by ihunt ini figure it's about time that i stop silently lurking around this community and actually add to the conversation, so here goes a first post.
a little about me-i was born "half-in", that is, my mother has been a witness for the entirety of my life whereas my father has never been.
i was an active part of the congregation (at least for what an unbaptized publisher can do) until i turned 18 and got an opportunity to attend a university (go school!).

[REPOST] Memorial Non-Attendance: The Single Most Impactful TTATT Witness to Family and Friends
by AMNESIANO in(originally posted march, 2014)anyone who has awakened to ttatt and has conscientiously left the organization--especially a once-prominent, highly-regarded, studious believer from a prominent multi-generational tribe of jws-- after decades of devout, high-profile "serve-us," who continues to put in an annual appearance at the memorial thoroughly subverts and undermines, by this one act, any hope s/he may entertain that his/her departure will stir family or former friends to question the whole watchtower bamboozle.
by this one concession s/he assigns him-/herself by every single jw to their handy and dimissive purgatory: the "spiritually-weak.".
nothing blasts a louder, clearer, and more deliberate message to the jws who personally knew you and those familiar with your jw bona fides that you are not merely "not making the meetings," "inactive," or "spiritually-weak," but that there is a conscientious reason you have rejected the entire watchtower society life than choosing to forego what they know you once believed to be jehovah's must-attend, one-and-only, holy/sacred event of the year for his people, the lord's evening meal.. you hand them the very justification they so relish to self-righteously label you as a "submarine witness" deserving of jehovah's, and more importantly, their judgement.

“AMNESIANO”: “Anyone who has awakened to TTATT and has conscientiously left the organization . . . after decades of . . . "serve-us," who continues to put in an annual appearance at the Memorial thoroughly subverts and undermines, by this one act, any hope s/he may entertain that his/her departure will stir family or former friends to question the whole Watchtower bamboozle. . . . you squander your prize opportunity to nudge thinking ones to seriously ponder the possible reason for your shocking departure.”
This reminds me of how the Watchtower organization keeps telling its members that by being firm in upholding the disfellowshipping arrangement, it may be what is needed to shock a loved one back to his/her senses so as to repent and “return to Jehovah” (that is, the Watchtower organization). We (us “apostates”) can use that same kind of tactic to our advantage: Those of us who have stopped going to meetings, assemblies, conventions, and field service could make it a point of also not attending the annual Memorial to show that we ourselves are standing firm and resolute in our personal decision to completely move on from the Watchtower “religion,” in all its forms. And this might end up being just the very thing to shock, or “nudge,” our loved ones into finally questioning the Watchtower organization to enough of a degree that they too might see the light and come to their senses! It’s only fair, as it’s sort of like using one of the WT’s own tactics, that of shunning, only in our case we’re only shunning the WT organization instead of our family – which I think is more what it ought to be!

Reasons for Leaving
by maksutov ini finally got my book finished.
it is available as a free ebook here: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/527252 i'm sure the contents are familiar territory to most people here, but hopefully it will be of some use to those who are either thinking about joining or thinking about leaving.

I was just thinking – anytime you happen to run into any JWS in the future, either at your door or in transit, whether they know you or not, you should ask for their email address. Get as many email addresses of JWs as you can and compile them into a little database. Then, email the complete contents of your free book to all of them at once. Who knows – you might end up doing a handful of them a real favor by causing them to take a good, hard, objective look at the Watchtower organization, and maybe even wake up and get out of it. That would be sweet, for sure! And certainly don’t forget to include anybody who you know has recently been called on by the JWs and whom you suspect might be thinking of checking them out. You could be saving them from wasting their life and maybe even from actual death from the blood transfusion policy, either themselves or someone in their family.
The JWs are always “warning” people about “Armageddon,” or at least so they think – but someone’s gotta warn unsuspecting people about the JWs!

"Why I don't like people coming to my door, selling religion"
by Captain Schmideo2 inthis is from a blog, "news from me" that i read fairly regularly.
mark evanier is, among other things, a comic book writer (co-writer for "groo-the wanderer), a television writer, a great raconteur, and was a close person friend of jack kirby, one of the world's greatest comic book artists.he got an email from a jw trying to explain why they come to his door.evanier's answer is well thought out, and should explain to even the densest j-dub why people really don't like being bothered.
maybe his correspondent will take it to heart, but probably not.

Or, you could order one of those new little Sparlock figurines to hang on the outside as a “good-luck” charm to keep the JWs away. (That, and a cross with some garlic bulbs.) -

You are entitled to your own personal way of handling the situation, and I most certainly respect and applaud your personal integrity. As far as the sender(s) of the package go, he/she/they have no idea that you just threw everything out, and would probably not assume such. If you really wanted to make a definite statement, one thing you could have done was to simply have it mailed back marked “RETURN TO SENDER.” That would have given them the message that you are ready to just move on with your life toward bigger and better pastures. That would have elegantly and poignantly expressed more than any words. But, of course, you no doubt did what was really in your best interests if you acted on yout gut feeling. Whatever the case, you can take this as confirmation of your empowerment to begin a new direction in your life – one where you’re free to follow your own heart. -

And don’t forget about all those taking part in the glorious mass exodus out the back door of the organization. Only about 33% of born-ins remain in the church/cult. Not to mention all those other folks getting disfellowshipped (for stupid things like saying “happy birthday,” toasting and clinking glasses, buying a lottery ticket, etc.) and disassociating themselves. That completely lets out the precious little air in their tire that was there to begin with, especially in Internet-equipped countries. Now, there’s an ever-growing population even within third-world lands such as Africa and India which is becoming connected to the Internet. Pretty soon, you could go door to door – or grass hut to grass hut – in Timbuktu, Africa, and they will say, “Oh, you people! No thanks. I’ve heard all about your organization online. Now f^€# off before I get my machete!” -

ABCNews Nightline: Segment on JW absuse cases here......
by WingCommander inhere is the segment on the conti abuse case in california and jehovah's witness's response as reported on by the abcnews nightline broadcast which was shown early this morning.
it really displays some absolutely shocking behavior from not only her abuser and his (supportive) wife, but also the jw attorneys and elders via video.
i am just blown away by the audacity displayed by these monsters.. we can now understand why governing body member stephen lett slipped in his comments a couple of weeks ago about "untrue reports of child abuse" in one of his talks which can viewed on the cult's website.

Certainly pedophiles are apt to be found in any religion or organization, as there are some specific character defects common to those types of perpetrators. (I’m no psychologist, by any means, but it would seem that whatever is inside their noggins doesn’t quite tick right.) However, the thing that’s really so galling about the JWs is that they try to protect their precious WT organization at all costs because they believe it to be so infinitely and exclusively superior in all respects to anything else in the “world.” (They’re the one-and-only representative and mouthpiece for Almighty God, don’t you know! . . . . Good grief. Well, it’s actually the WT organization that catapulted me into embracing evolution.) -

“NoGoodDeed”: “I was surprised at how they tried to avoid talking to me. One told me that I should just take whatever literature I wanted and read it on the train. When I asked a question that I though was fairly innocent, two of the JWs just looked away. The third said, "We are not here to answer questions. We are just here to hand out magazines."”
I’ll be willing to bet that those JWs would believe you if you showed them hard evidence of any of the falsehoods in the history of the WT organization as much as they would believe you if you said you just arrived from another galaxy. Yep. Anything you could possibly present to them regarding Russell or Rutherford, etc., etc., would most definitely be met with, “Oh, you must have got that from apostates.” I would bet my boots and saddle on that!

I guess it would be good after sundown on Friday, April 3, 2015 to at least reflect for a moment how ridiculous the JW celebration of the Memorial is, where they pass the emblems by all the non-anointed (normal) people, who are not supposed to partake at all. Looking at it from the outside, I can see that this exercise in futility is really just a psychological tactic by the WT to reinforce the lowly position of all the non-anointed in their pecking order. We should be glad that we don’t have to be held captive to that dull charade. (And for those of us like myself who still get dragged to that fun-filled event every year, at least we know that we don’t have to take it seriously, at least in our own mind.) That evening should really be a time to appreciate the true freedom we have by learning TTATT. That evening, just do something nice for someone else and for yourself. Just celebrate life itself. That’s what it’s for.
