  I'm getting baptized

  i know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.

  my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.

  i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.

  In reality, it’s not too late, nor should it rightfully be, for you to back out of it! Remember, legally there is a “grace period” to back out of something such as a contract for a new furnace or water heater. So, logically, a proposition which would literally involve giving of your whole life and very being to some printing corporation should likewise be conditional upon some reasonable sort of grace period.

  The other consideration, which will hopefully end up being for you a light at the end of the tunnel, is money – that is, if you can somehow secure some employment from which you can save up a bit of money and establish some financial security, then you will have the real power to move out on your own and thus begin to assert your own ideals as you see fit, devoid of the silly little publishing corporation which seemed to hold so much power over you at the time.

  My advice is to just do whatever you reasonably can toward that goal one day at a time.

  Who is your " I am" that your voice should be heard?

  i was recently thinking before i became " mike" i was an innocent baby, then as the days passed slowly by, i developed a sence of " iam".

  as the days moved forward my body, slowly developed a a "sex organ" whilst my mind took on a sence of " emotional" and " intellectual" i am" .

  this allowed me to become my current " i am?.

  And just who endowed you with the privilege and power of judging those who are in the lonely zoophilia class? Now, I’m obviously against any harm to any living things, and certainly against the traumatization or abuse of any children, but, however, if a guy wants to play ride-the-cow (or filly horse, sow pig, donkey, camel), then who really is anyone to judge? I mean, as Jesus said at Matthew 7:1: “Stop judging that you may not be judged.”

  So, if that’s what someone’s unique personal “I am” is – and he/she isn’t hurting anyone or any thing, then, well, what’s it to you, or anyone else?

  Perhaps, but a name like “Watch-Tower Investments Limited,” especially considering the diagram of internationally connected business entities, seems to me like it has the JW Watchtower written all over it!

  Sorry. It seems that you can’t go directly to that link because that Webpage has to be generated by a search using the main Webpage.

  So, you have to go to the Webpage “https://offshoreleaks.icij.org” and do a search there for “Watch Tower” – NOTE: You have to put “Watch Tower” within double quotation marks in the search field. The search will then result in the entry “Watch-Tower Investments Limited,” which is registered in the British Virgin Islands.   Don’t forget, there is a minimum age to sign up for things like Facebook, Twitter, etc. Now, for a supposedly eternal life-and-death matter of being baptized, one would think that there would be greater allowance for the time to make necessary personal reflection and examination.

  After all, they say that when salespersons call at your door to sign you up for a contract regarding a new water heater or for electrical, phone, cable, Internet services, etc., then you have a perfect right to at least investigate what is being sold to you. It’s now also the law!

  There is an abundant proliferation of scams out there, and therefore everyone has a legal right to one extremely important thing: full disclosure up front.

  You have every right to whatever time you need – even if (hopefully) that may turn out to be indefinite – to research everything, including the very existence of a magical deity such as the ancient middle-Eastern desert God Jehovah.

  Just say that you happened to come across some things which made you rather confused about the Watchtower organization, such as their history of __________, and their apparent contradictions regarding __________, etc., etc. Say that in consideration of those things which you have fairly recently come to know of, you will therefore need more time to analyze the facts and process your thoughts on these matters. That way, your execution – I mean, baptism – can be put on hold, and you will still retain a good measure of immunity from being shunned.

  Remember, they can’t kick you out of something from which you technically never joined in the first place (that is, according to their own rules).

  does anyone else recall the big chart that hung at the front of every kingdom hall?.

  it would be about 5 feet x 4 feet.

  on the side of the chart, vertically listed, were the months of the year.

  Don’t forget to turn in your last field service report. You wouldn’t want the elders to have to keep hounding you about it. You wouldn’t want to get in trouble with them, would you – you might not be able to handle the penises – that is, the microphones – whenever you come and visit the congregation.

  Finally watched the anti-gay WT video

  i avoided watching the wt video where the daughter/mother discuss 'leaving' gaydom behind in order to reach paradise for as long as i could, but finally gave in and watched it; just so i know exactly what it says and how it's presented, should it come up in conversation with jw family.. it wasn't as shocking as i expected, having read some of the angst filled posts here and on facebook (thanks to george takei).

  they're presenting their beliefs as supported by scripture from the bible.

  and if you're a true believer in that book, then you would find yourself having to at least give some thought to what is said.
